Unlimited money: Joust in a tournament and intentionally hit your opponent's
horse. Your character will be ejected from the tournament, and
all land will be forfeited. Raid your own castle, but do not take
it over. This should cause your gold total to glitch, allowing
any amount of troops or buildings to be purchased.
