Cheat mode

Note: v1.1 or higher is required. This procedure involves editing a game file; create a backup copy of the file before proceeding. Use a text editor to edit the "config.cfg" file in the "\18 wos across america" directory. Change the value of the "uset g_console" line from "0" to "1" to enable the console. Then, press ~ during game play to display the console window. Note: Press ¬ during game play to display the console window in the European version of the game. Type one of the following codes and press [Enter] to activate the corresponding cheat function. Press ~ again to exit the console.

Note: This procedure involves editing a game file; create a backup copy of the file before proceeding. Use a text editor to edit the "config.cfg" file in the "\My Documents\18 WoS Across America" directory. Locate the following line:

uset g_traffic "1"

...and change it to:

uset g_traffic "0"

Unlimited money

Note: This procedure involves editing a game file; create a backup copy of the file before proceeding. Rename file "base.scs" in the game directory to "base.zip". Double click to open the .ZIP file. Enter the "defs" folder. Drag the "scenarios" folder to your Desktop. Delete the "scenarios" folder in the "base.zip" file. Go to the "scenarios" folder on your Desktop and open "free_mode.def" file with a text editor. Find the following line:

money:"1000"

...and change it to

money:"1000000000"

Save the file and copy it to the "scenarios" folder. Return to "defs" folder in the "base.zip" file and paste the "scenarios" folder to it. Rename the "base.zip" file to "base.scs". You will now have $1 billion in Free mode.

View game files

The .scs files in the game's main directory are really .zip files that have a different extension. Renaming a copy to .zip allows you to open it and see the game files.

Hints

Custom music

Copy any music file in .WAV format to any of the folder in the "music" directory in the "\My Documents\18 WoS Across America" folder. Press J during game play to display the jukebox to access those songs.
