Alternate endings

Complete the indicated task to unlock the corresponding ending.

  • League: Complete the single player campaign storyline with the final mission "Defend Arteria Cranium".
  • ORCA: The final mission of this storyline is "Attack Arteria Cranium". To reach this ending, complete the "Rescue GA Transport" mission and two more missions in Chapter 2 to unlock the "Defend Megalis" mission, commissioned by Line Ark. Complete that mission, progress until reaching the "Defend Line Ark" mission which will appear in place of "Defeat White Glint". Complete that mission and the "Destroy Arteria Ulna" mission will be available in Chapter 3. Complete that mission to be accepted into ORCA. At the end of that chapter, the "Attack Arteria Carpals" will become available. Complete that mission to continue on the ORCA storyline. Do not choose the "Destroy Cradle 03" mission when it becomes available. Instead, follow the other missions to the end.
  • Old King: This storyline is along the ORCA mission path, with the final mission being "Occupy Arteria Carpals". Follow the steps to get the ORCA ending until Chapter 4. At that point, choose the "Destroy Cradle 03" mission offered by Old King.

Hints

Starting the ORCA storyline

In Chapter 3 complete both the "Defeat Red Rum And Stark" mission and "Destroy Megalis" mission. The first ORCA mission is "Destroy Arteria Ulna".

Defeating AF Answerer

Equip two Kiku, and fly directly at it. Look for the location underneath where the AA charges, where it meets the next section. Hit it to kill it instantly.

Defeating Land Crab

  • Use a a heavily-armored core with many grenades. Destroy Land Crab from the bottom up. The blast radius from the grenades will destroy its missile batteries. When your crosshairs turn green while facing a target on top of the Land Crab platform, fire one of your grenades. Remain persistent, and do not leave the ground unless you absolutely have to.
  • Use a light or middle weight core with boosters on the back and shoulders, and dual Moonlights, Dragonslayers, or the strongest possible laser blade. Boost directly to it and blade the legs until it dies.

Defeating Megalis

  • Use a fast core, then Vanguard Overboost at as high of an altitude as possible while avoiding the missiles. Boost forward as much as possible until the Vanguard Overbooster is gone. Then boost forward and land on top of Magalis. Assault armor once to destroy it from the inside.
  • Use Vanguard Overbooster to get as close as possible to Megalis. Megalis is defended by numerous laser turrets. Get to ground level as soon as possible. Once there, either destroy all enemies on the ground, including the turrets, then destroy Megalis from the outside. Alternately, shoot Megalis while dodging the enemy defensive fire until it is destroyed. Sometimes the defensive laser turrets will fire at you, but hit Megalis instead.

Defeating ORCA's Special AF Unit

Look at the top of the AF and find the small vent hole. Jump in that hole with a blade equipped. Then, look down and blade attack. This will keep you in the vent hole as you are attacking.

Defeating White Glint

  • Use a combination of High ACT missiles and Gatling Guns. Try to get her stuck in one of the gaps in the wall to negate her high QB. Using Assault Armor may also help.
  • Use the ZINC Kojima missiles, unless you want an "S" rank.
  • Offensively, his attacks include a rifle, an assault rifle, two SALINE missiles, and an Assault Armor. Use a sniping NEXT and shoot him while avoiding his missiles and mid-range rifle shots. You have to outmaneuver him while he blasts his missiles and uses his rifles. In the Story mission he will usually use Assault Armor when you get too close, but this can be used to your advantage. Quick boost in, and when he initiates Assault Armor, quick boost out. His Primal Armor will be depleted, and your attacks will do more damage.

Defeating the four NEXTs

  • You must defeat four NEXTs to complete the third storyline. Note: There will be five NEXTs under the Hard difficulty. Use a Quad Sniper with back-mounted Railcannons. Use a shoot and run tactic. Do not waste ammunition. This will require some time, but is a safe strategy. You must kill one of them (Roadie recommended) as they overboost into the area. Make sure to avoid Roadie's Bazooka arms because they will short out your charge.
  • Use regulation 1.15 to get unlimited energy with high speed Moonlight AC. Place 40 FRS into KP output and use the best KP generator and the fastest overbooster available. Also equip dual Kojima Cannons. At the start, charge the Kojima Cannons and fly towards where they spawn. Fire the cannons at Roadie then lure one of them over the wall. Overboost away from him (sword lunge + QB also is effective) until you are at least 500 feet away. Stop the overboost, do a quick turn, and use overboost again. They should be at ground level and charging at you. Try to sword slash them as you overboost past. Repeat the process until they all have been defeated.
  • Use the heavy machine guns that carry the most ammunition as back weapons and two Kojima weapons. Destroy one NEXT with the Kojima weapons when all four of them charge in. When all of the Kojima ammunition is expended, strafe and fire the machineguns. Focus on the NEXT that is following you.
  • Use regulation 1.40 with a quad-legged Kojima AC with Kojima-rifle weapon arms and a single left-back-mounted Kojima cannon. Charge your weapons and enter the area. When the dialog "Maybe it's an animal. Can it even understand what we're saying?" is heard, fly to their spawn point and fire. At this time they will not dodge and will continue flying straight until reaching the outer wall. Use just your back mounted cannon to take a NEXT out then fire a quick shot with the arms to take out a second NEXT before the actual battle starts.

"Attack On Arteria Cranium": Easy "S" rank

Use the following trick in Attack On Arteria Cranium (Hard difficulty setting; Blade strategy). You may have trouble going against three ACs with no support. Try out this build. It is typical, with most parts obtained through the story by getting "White Glint". You need a total (as of now) 389 FRS Memory Points. This build is very fast. It hits hard, and all you have to do is use hit and run booster techniques.

Capacity
Max ARGYROS/G: Energy Output, Energy Capacity, KP Output. Do not worry with load, as you will be fast and extremely agile. You will be nowhere in the caution or overloaded area.
Primal Armor
Scroll across to "Primal Armor" and max all four slots. The remaining points can be supplied to the "Acquisition" if desired, for lock-on speed.

Upon entering the level, boost quickly towards the first target. You can easily boost and attack him with two blades before boosting off. Upon hitting him, boost away as fast as possible to minimize damage. Do not get carried away. With boosting and blading your energy can quickly deplete if you are not careful. Upon boosting ahead you will find yourself against two more ACs. The last (extra one under the Hard difficulty setting) is a bit stupid in the beginning and boosts against the wall. Quickly fly in and blade him. If done correctly you should blade him twice. Again, use hit and run tactics. If you see your energy is getting low, boost to a safe spot quickly, idle, and let it recharge Boost back in, lock in, blade, and boost back. This build can also easily take down the AF-ANSWERER.

"Destroy The 8th Fleet": Easy completion

Equip the longest range FCS available, use grenades, and use quick movements. You do not have to look for the last ship. Stigro will usually find it first.

"Occupation Of Arteria Capals": Easy completion

  • Use an AC with a long flight time with Argyros gun arms. Charge the gun arms at the start of the mission and use them to kill one of enemies (Reiterpallasch recommended) when they first appear. Kill the rest of them with a combination of ZINC missile launchers, Sirius Hi lasers, and gun arms. The four opposing ACs are loaded out as follows.
Stasis: Energy Bazooka, Omer's Assault Rifle, quad barreled vertical PM missile launcher, and Radar.
Feedback: Bazooka gun arms, High Speed Missile, and High Act Missile.
Reiterpallasch: Railgun, Laser Blade, Dual Hi Laser Cannon, and Pulse Cannon.
Ambient: Laser Sniper Rifle, Sniper Assault Rifle, ECM Makers, and Dual Radar.
  • Use Eklakh arms. They have an integrated machinegun and the high maneuverability allows you to stay locked on to a target. The game will not indicate a lock-on when the enemy is out of sight, but the guns will still hit it. Select a target, fire at it, and constantly quick boost left and right while rising and falling in altitude.
  • Use regulation 1.15 for unlimited energy and use a blading NEXT. A high speed blade strategy helps you avoid hits, and does lots of damage. A high speed, quick boosting style is needed.
  • When you enter the facility, the enemy NEXTs fly in on the middle wall that you are directly facing. You can use this to your advantage by getting in free shots before they actually enter the facility, or pull one of them to engage outside of the combat zone (directly outside the wall) while sacrificing Old King to the others. You can also re-enter the facility, target a NEXT, then move around him to force him to chase you. When you exit the facility, you can then engage it one on one. Try to take out Wynne D first, because the laser cannon mounted as her right back weapon does great damage.

Rai-Den's back weapon

Complete the "Destroy Arms Fort Great Wall" mission under the Hard difficulty setting. To defeat Rai-Den easily, fly in front of it briefly, then move so that it shoots the wall. Remain at that point and it will eventually kill itself. You can then continue the mission.

White Glint parts

Defeat Glint in the arena for the schematic, destroy Glint in the League storyline for the weapons, defend Glint in the Line Ark/ORCA storyline for the parts.

ZINC back weapon

Complete the "Defeat No Count And Unknown Next" mission under the Hard difficulty.

AI

Compared to Armored Core 4 the Nexts in are much quicker. The quick boost thruster consumption appears to have been reduced and this causes quite a few of the AI to move very quickly and very erratically. Tried and true methods that brought down Nexts in Armored Core 4 do not always work, such as the ever potent HLC02-Sirius. The developers have compensated for this by giving placers the back chain guns GAN-01-SS-GC obtained by following the Collarred story line. Combined with the INBLUE FCS, which has the highest lock speed, and rapid quick boost techniques to stay close, you can easily destroy almost any Next. Unfortunately this is not available until after the Defeat White Glint and Defend Line Ark missions, which are very difficult without these chain guns on your back. Very few Nexts utilize aerial combat techniques; mainly Fragile, White Glint, Ambient, Stasis, Old King, and Unsung. Also, laser blades can use lock on now making it easy for Nexts to target you with their blades. Shinkai is the most dangerous and is found in the Defend Arteria Cranium (final mission for Collared) and can very quickly take you down to size using homing strikes from the 07-Moonlight.

  • Back: 03-Aaliyah/B (not the fastest for regular flying but very good quick boost and decent energy consumption for regular flight)
  • Side: AB-Lahire (fast, good consumption, good quick boost, and light)
  • OB: KRB-Lahire (light, decent speed and consumption, one of the better Assault Armors)

Custom AC

This AC configuration will give you unlimited flight, regardless of prior tuning. It is a heavy weight AC that has plenty of AP. Note: Weapons are not in the layout to allow personal preferences. Regardless, this AC schematic has its various advantages outside of its flight capabilities, such as its large hangers which can hold larger weapons.
