Cheat Codes
Cheat mode
Note: v1.1 of the game is required to enable all codes. Some, but not all, codes can be used with earlier versions. This procedure involves editing a game file; create a backup copy of the files before proceeding. You will need to allow hidden files and folders to be shown in order to edit this particular .ini file. Use a text editor to edit the "User.ini" file found in the following locations:
- Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Bioshock\
- Windows Vista: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Bioshock\
Set a key binding in the User.ini file to any of the following codes (for example, "F10=fly"). Then, press the corresponding key during game play to activate the corresponding cheat function. Note: Any active codes are disabled when a new area loads or intermission sequence plays. General codes are as follows:
| Effect | Code |
|---|---|
| God mode | god |
| No clipping mode | ghost |
| Flight mode | fly |
| Disables fly and ghost codes | walk |
| Teleport to pointer | teleport |
| Refill EVE bar | givebioammo |
| Refill health bar | givehealth |
| $500 | igbigbucks |
| Kill all enemies on level, may break scripted plot sequences | killpawns |
| Set game speed; "1.0" is normal | slomo <number> |
| Set jump height; "600.0" is default, more than "1200.0" will result in taking damage upon landing | setjumpz <number> |
| Set gravity; "-1400,0" is default; "0.0" is no gravity | setgravity <number> |
| Kill yourself | suicide |
Summoning Plasmids and Tonics
Create a text file named Plasmid.txt with a text editor and place it in the "System" folder in the game directory, which is typically "C:\Program Files\2K Games\BioShock\Content\System". In the "User.ini" file used in the "Cheat mode" section, bind the following command to any key
exec Plasmid.txt
Edit the Plasmid.txt file you have just made with any of the following commands listed below. Once you are in the game, use the key you have bound to the "exec Plasmid.txt" line. Go to a gene bank to check out any new Tonics you have summoned. Higher level Plasmids seem to replace lower level ones automatically. All of the below entries are Tonics unless otherwise indicated.

Summoning weapons, ammunition, and items
Create a text file named Weapons.txt with a text editor and place it in the "System" folder in the game directory, which is typically "C:\Program Files\2K Games\BioShock\Content\System". In the "User.ini" file used in the "Cheat mode" section, bind the following command to any key
exec Weapons.txt
Edit the Weapons.txt file you have just made with any of the following commands listed below. Once you are in the game, use the key you have bound to the "exec Weapons.txt" line. Alternately, you can use Plasmid.txt file if already created and use the same key for both types of cheats. Spawned weapons and ammunition will appear directly in your inventory. Note: The game has default maximum ammunition carrying capacities for each weapon (for example, you can normally carry a maximum of 48 standard pistol rounds) Thus if you try to summon 999 pistol rounds with the pistol in your inventory, the game will automatically limit you to 48 rounds. However if you summon 999 rounds before you first acquire the pistol, then you will have 999 rounds available in your inventory.

1. If you have 9999 Adam and press your summon key a second time, the counter will simply reset itself to zero then tick back up to 9999 again. This appears to be the maximum value the game will allow.
2. You can also use the GiveItem code to increase your maximum health and EVE capacity, or add more Plasmid and Tonic slots. Apparently it is best to increase health and EVE by 1 "point" at a time. After about 12 points the health and EVE bar graphics become so long they are distracting.
Weapon upgrades
Note: This procedure involves editing a game file; create a backup copy of the file before proceeding. Use a text editor to create the file "upgrades.txt" in the "\Content\System" directory in the game folder. Add any of the following codes as separate lines in that file. Then use a text editor to edit the "User.ini" file in the "\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Bioshock" directory in Windows XP or the "\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\BioShock" directory in Windows Vista. Note: You may first need to enable hidden files and folders to be viewed first. find it. Scroll down to the "[Default]" header. Choose a currently unbound key bind by inserting the line "Exec upgrades.txt"; for example "F7=Exec upgrades.txt". Note: If you upgrade a weapon you do not have yet, they will be enabled when you pick up that weapon.

Unlockables
Alternate endings
There are three possible endings, depending on how the Little Sisters were treated.
- If more than one Little Sister was harvested, the "bad" ending will play.
- If no more than one Little Sister was harvested, but the rest were rescued, the "good" ending will play.
- Rescue all the Little Sisters in the game except for one that is harvested to see the third ending.

Items
Easy "Little Sister Savior" achievement or trophy
PlayStation3
Xbox 360 Do not harvest a single Little Sister throughout the game. Tenebaum will reward you with gifts (including Adam) every time you rescue three Little Sisters. This proves more effective, as you get the same amount of Adam as you would if you harvested them but you also get the achievement or trophy.
Easy "Tonic Collector" achievement or trophy
PlayStation3
Xbox 360 When buying Plasmids, Tonics, and Upgrades from the Gatherer's Garden, always buy the Tonics first. Then, make sure you search every area for other Tonics. When you reach Point Prometheus there will be three Tonics to find. The rest of the Tonics are available in the Gatherer's Garden. This will ensure you get the achievements. Note: To check how many Tonics you have, go to a Gene Bank and count each "track".
Easy "Brass Balls" and "Seriously Good At This" achievements or trophies
PlayStation3 Xbox 360 Reach the end of the game under the Easy or Normal difficulty. Get Atlas down to his last jar of Adam. Pause game play, go to the "Options" menu and change the difficulty to "Hard". Defeat Atlas to unlock the achievements or trophies. Note: You cannot die while unlocking the "Brass Balls" achievement or trophy.
Pac Man reference
In the Arcadia level, you will find a place that appears to be a bar. Search around a bit and you will see a block of cheese, followed by holes. The cheese is cut like Pac-Man himself. There are holes next to it, none of which can be gun shots. If you shoot the floor with any weapon you have, the marks will not match.
