Maximum health and ammunition

Note: This procedure involves editing a game file; create a backup copy of the file before proceeding. Use a text editor to edit the "user.con" file in the game folder. Find the "MAXHEALTH" or "MAXPLAYERHEALTH" entry and change "100" to "9999". Find the "MAXAMMOFORPISTOLS 100" entry and change it to "MAXAMMOFORPISTOLS 500". Do the same for the other weapons in the file.

Faces Of Death level

Create a "Duke3d.bat" file in the game folder, and have the following line as its contents:

Duke3d.exe /v1 /l7

Run the "Duke3d.bat" file to start the "Faces Of Death" secret level which features the faces of the development team.

Reset parental password

Use the following trick if you forgotten the parental control password. Note: This procedure involves editing a game file; create a backup copy of the file before proceeding. Use a text editor to edit the "DUKE3D.CFG" in the "\Games\Duke3D\" folder. Find the "Environment = "<text>" line. Change the value of that line to the desired parental password.

"Damn I'm Good" difficulty level God mode

Begin a new game at the "Come Get Some" difficulty level. Enable the God mode cheat code and begin a new game under "Damn I'm Good" difficulty level.

Opponent viewpoint

Begin a modem multiplayer game and enable recording on the options screen. Press K during game play to view the game from your opponent's view point.

Third person view of players 2 to 8 in demos

Begin a game and hit [F7]. Press [Esc] and select "Quit To Title". You will now see players 2 to 8 from a third person view.

Talking Duke

Hold [Alt] while pressing the [F1] through [F10] during game play.

Hints

Getting shotguns or armor

If you have the Freezethrower, use it on pig cops repeatedly. Every time you do this they will drop a shotgun or armor.

Hollywood Holocaust: Defeating Battlelord

Use the following trick to defeat the Episode 1 Boss. There are two tripwires inside the room with the Boss. One closes the door and the other brings the Boss. When you walk in, turn around so that you are facing the door. When the door starts to close, use steroids to run past it. You can now open the door and it will not close. Trigger the Boss and run behind the shelves for cover. Hopefully he will follow you out the door. Duck down and shoot his head. He is too stupid to run away.

Shrapnel City: Tier Drops

There is a tenth level on Shrapnel City called Tier Drops. To get there, go to the movie level and go to the stage with the NASA sign and the body parts with a telescope. Kill the alien with the chain gun and press [Use] on the sign. A door should appear with the caution sign that ends the level. Do not go to the stage with the ship, or this will not work.

Shrapnel City: Hidden items

• When in the last Boss level, do not move anywhere at the start. Instead, activate your jetpack and fly straightly up as high as possible. You will see a blimp that has "Duf beer" written on its side. Shoot the blimp with your RPG or Devastator and a large amount of items that include medipacks and ammunition will fall out.

• If you have a jet pack, fly up and destroy the beer blimp. Guns and health will scatter on the ground, allowing the final Boss to be killed easier. Note: One of the best weapons to use against it is the Devastater.
  

Shrapnel City: Secret level

Go to the Hotel Hell level and go to the fountain by the pool. Step through the waterfall, then go behind a bush. You will see a radioactive waste sign like the ones that mark the end of a level, except it is gray. It will take you to the secret Freeway level.

Defeating the Episode 1 Boss

There are two tripwires in the room with the Boss. One will close the door and the other summons the Boss. When you walk in the room, turn around to face the door. When the door begins to close, use steroids to run past it. You can now open the door without it closing again. Trigger the Boss and run for cover behind the shelves. With luck, the Boss will follow you out the door. Duck down and shoot his head until he has been defeated.

Defeating the third Boss

Before the encounter starts, you will ride up an elevator. Use your jetpack to fly up instead. The Boss and enemies will not move until the elevator appears, giving you a chance to get some early attacks.

Multiple pipe bombs

Throw a pipe bomb, then press 6 and throw another one. Repeat this to play as many pipe bombs as desired.

Duke coughs blood

Go outside of a building where you can keep going up forever with a jet pack. Enable the dnkroz code, press J for the jetpack and fly all the up. Once there, press J again and you should start falling. As Duke hits the ground, you will see him coughing blood.

Revive from death

At any point in the game upon dying, do not press [Action] to restart the level as instructed. Instead, enable the dnkroz code. You will be revived right there on the spot. The code will remain active until you type it again to shut it off.

Fast final Boss defeat

Enable the dnscotty 309 code to appear at the final Boss. Enable the dnstuff and dnstu codes. Switch to the Devastater. When you finally get up on him turn, back up slightly, then fire.

Glitches

Remain shrunk

Go to a level with a shrinker that shoots you to shrink. Jetpack up to the ceiling and when you grow, you will die. After dying, enable the dncornholio code and you will remain small. Note: If you walk over water or put a jetpack on, you will float towards the ceiling and stay there until you turn off the jetpack or float over the ground.

Lunar Apocalypse: Get into space

When you start the second level on Lunar Apocalypse, you can get into space. Enable the dnkroz, then dnunlock codes. This should send you back to the room you started from. Kill the drone sensory, then enable the dnunlock code and run out before the room comes in. Note: When you get into space, you can walk around the outside of the level.

Floating dead

Enable the dncornholio code and go to the cogs on level 3. Go behind them and continuously run into them, which would normally kill Duke. Keep doing this and you should appear above the cogs, dead but floating and still being able to move, shoot, and fall. Jump to return to normal again.

Punch and guns

Go up to a mirror and press 1. Duke will have a gun in his hand. If you click the mouse or press [Ctrl], he will punch.

Backwards world

Enable the dnclip code in any level with a mirror. Walk through the mirror to enter a backwards world. To get out, just walk through the mirror again. Note: Once in mirror land do not type dnclip again or you will die.
