and
Bonsly (in Pokemon Diamond)
- To get Bonsly you must trade it from Pokemon Pearl.
- Talk to the person in the Pokemon Mansion after you get the National Dex. A random rare Pokemon will appear every day. One of them may be Bonsly.
Bronzor
Defeat the Elite Four and get the National Dex. Go
to Spring Path and go to the right. Go up then go left where you
can use Rock Climb. When you get down there will be a hole. Go
in and look around until you find Bronzor.
Caterpie
Have the Game Boy Advance game Pokemon Fire Red in the cartridge slot and search for Caterpie at Route 204 south.
Chansey
Happiny can evolve into Chansey if it is happy with
you and you use an Oval Stone on it. Fortunately if it is happy
with you it means that it will probably evolve into Blissey shortly
after it evolves into Chansey.
Chatot
Use the following trick to get Chatot early in the
game. First, go to the grass in front of the Valley Wind Works
and capture a Buizel. Train it to level 14. Then, go to Eterna
City. Go into the building to the right of the Pokemart. There
will be a boy at the table closest to the bookshelf. Talk to him
and he will ask you to trade him your Buizel for his Chatot. Trade
with him and you will get a level 14 Chatot.
Chatot: Chatter
If you do a bit of exploring and talking to people,
you will eventually encounter someone who says that Chatot can
learn human words. Once you obtain one (after trading with a girl
in an early town) and get it to about level 20, it will learn
the move Chatter. As they said, it can indeed learn human words.
Once it learns Chatter, go to your Pokemon menu and select "Chatot".
It will show Chatter along with summary, switch, and etc. From
here, press A and record what you want to say in the DS
mic. Not only will Chatot say what you said whenever you use the
move Chatter, but it will become its cry. Note: This is not permanent,
so you can change its Chatter as often as desired. Also, the speech
will be slightly distorted so it will not sound exactly as you
said it. The recorded sound lasts for only one day, so you will
have to re-record it.
Chimecho
Chingling will only evolve into Chimecho if it is happy
with you and it levels up at night.
Deoxys: Change form
If you have a Deoxys and, for example, have speed form
but you want attack form, go to Veilstone City. After that walk
east and go to a meteorite. Talk to your Deoxys (top speed, middle
normal, bottom left attack, bottom right defense) and it will
change form.
Dialga
- You will need Rock Climb, Surf, and Strength. To capture Dialga, start out with Fighting or Ground type moves. This causes twice the damage and reduces its HP by a lot. Then, use Water, Normal, Electric, or Flying type moves which only do half the damage. Use this technique to get its HP to the red then throw Pokeballs at it.
- You will encounter a Diagla at some point in the game. If you fail to catch him the first time, visit Sandgem Town. You will find Lucas standing in front of the Pokemon Lab. Check with him regularly and he will tell you when Diagla has reappeared.
- Once you get to Spear Pillar, the difficult part is the battle with the boss, Cyrus. However if you have an electric Pokemon and your starter, it should be fairly easy. If your starter was a Grotle, train it to level 46 or 47 before you go to Mount Coronet. Make sure that it knows the move Earthquake. Save the game before you go up after talking to Professor Rowan. When you start the battle with Dialga, use a Quick Ball. If that does not catch it, use Earthquake. If you knock it out with a critical hit, turn off the game and try again. It will now be very easy to snatch your prize with an Ultra Ball.
- Atop Mt. Coronet, after doing battle with Team Galaxy grunts, admin and Team Galaxy Boss, Dialga will have been awakened. After the legendary trio appear, Dialga's power will be quelled but you are capable of fighting it. This is immediately after the battle with the team Galaxy Boss so you will not have time to heal. It is at level 47.
Diaruga
Go to Spear Pillar to catch Diaruga.
Drifloon
- To catch Drifloon the balloon Pokemon, go to Valley Windworks on Friday during the day after you have defeated Team Galactic. Note: This can be done multiple times. Drifloon is a Ghost/Flying-type, making it a good part of your team. Drifloon evolves into Drifblim at level 28.
- Drifloon will only appear on Fridays. It will be outside the Valley Windworks near Floaroma Town. After you catch it you can go back every Friday to get one. You can also trick the clock if you want to get one before it actually is Friday. Note: It will be in sprite form, and will not be in the grass.
Eevee
- You must have the National Dex. You can get Eevee from Bebe after you get the National Dex. It will be level 5.
- To successfully receive more Evees, first breed a Ditto and Evee together in Pokemon LeafGreen or FireRed. You can breed Pokemon on Four Island. lake at Mt. Coronet. You must use an Old Rod to find it. Once
you find the correct square it has a 50% chance of appearing.
Try each square multiple times.
Gengar
- Have any Game Boy Advance Pokemon game in the cartridge slot and search for Gengar at the Forest Mansion in the room with the eyes on the wall.
- Note: This trick requires another DS and a second Pokemon Diamond or Pearl game. Get the Haunter from the top-left house in Snowpoint City for a Medicham. These are found easily outside Lake Acuity. Then, using both games, trade the Haunter for something else. When you trade, the Haunter will become a Gengar. Trade back and you will have a Gengar.
Gible
Go to the route underneath Cycling Road (south of Eterna
City) and go north. You will see a cave entrance to Wayward Cave.
Do not go in. Instead, go left and you will see a bridge. Step
underneath the bridge and go to the second square from the left,
then keep going up. There is a secret entrance to Wayward Cave.
Use Strength to move the boulder in front of you upwards and go
left down the stairs. You will need to solve a simple course of
bicycle jumps to reach the end of the cave. After awhile you should

For example, if it holds Dragon Plate, it is a Dragon-type. Its final skill is at 100, Judgment. Judgment's type is based on what plate you have equipped. It does 100 with 100 ACC and 10 PP.
Catching roaming Legendaries
There are two Pokemon that roam the map in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. These Pokemon are Mesprit and Cresselia.
The following is a fairly easy and effective (if a little time-consuming)
way to catch them. Note: These Pokemon will appear as "seen"
in your Pokedex before they begin roaming, so you will be able
to begin tracking them immediately. Also, you must obviously go
through certain parts of the story before these Pokemon appear
in the wild. First, raise a Pokemon with a high Speed rating and
the False Swipe attack to about level 50. Then, use the Marking
Map on your Poketch to find the Pokemon and engage it in battle.
Use False Swipe, and assuming your Pokemon was fast enough, the
roaming Pokemon will take damage before fleeing the battle. Repeat
this until the target is at 1 HP. The target will retain the damage
you inflicted on it the next time you see it. Also, save the game
after each encounter. Buy some Quick Balls. They have a better
chance of capture if they are used early in a battle. Find the
Pokemon again. Note: Do not encounter it in an area that has a
damaging weather effect, such as the northern blizzard area, as
this will cause the Pokemon to faint and you will lose the chance
to meet it again. If desired, you can inflict a status problem
on it at this point, but do not give it a status effect that will
inflict damage like Poison or Burn, as these will also defeat
your target. Find the Pokemon and toss a Quick Ball at it. Because
it is the first "turn" in battle and the Pokemon is
at a very low HP, the Quick Ball has quite a high chance of securing
the Pokemon for you. If it was not caught, the worst that can
happen is the Pokemon will run away and you must track it again.
Starting Pokemon
- The starters are Naetle, Hikozaru, and Pochama. Naetle is Grass tpe with the ability Overgrow. Hikozaru is a fire chimp with Blaze. Pochama resembles a penguin with Torrent, just like the Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald starters.
- The three starters in the North American version are Chimchare the Fire Monkey, Turtwig The Grass Turtle, and Piplup The Water penguin.
Getting all Pokemon
- You cannot catch all Pokemon in this game. You must trade them from your Game Boy Advance Pokemon games. In this game, you can get all the fourth generation Pokemon, but only about fifty original Hoenn/Kanto/Johto Pokemon.
- To get all Pokemon without using the Game Boy Advance Pokemon games, Nintendo WiFi is needed. In Jubilife city is a Worldwide Trade Station. Go in and talk to a person at the desk. Say "Yes" to everything. You will then be in a strange looking place. You will automatically go to a computer. You can then search for a Pokemon you want. However, you must to trade a Pokemon they want for the Pokemon you want.
- Use the following trick to get more starters. Get a starter such as Chimchar, Piplup, and Turtwig. Migrate a Ditto from Pokemon Fire Red or Leaf Green. Take your starter and Ditto and put them in the Daycare. Wait for a while and there will be an egg. Wait for it to hatch and to get another starter.
Recommended starting Pokemon
- The best starter Pokemon is Chimchar. It will get you to the Pokemon league quickly. Its highest evolution is Infernape.
- The recommended starter is Piplup. Raise it until it is an Empoleon. It will be a Water/Steel type. Your rival will have a Torterra by then. Torterra will have at least one Grass type move. Grass type moves are very effective against Water types. However, they are not very effective against Steel types. Empoleon should do well against Torterra. Empoleon's recommended moves to increase your chances of winning even more are Drill Peck, Avalanche, Hydro Pump, and Hydro Cannon.
Combination with Pokemon abilities
- Abilities play a large role when battling with your Pokemon. A good combo with abilities and a move set can help win a battle. For example, get an Onix with the moves Screech, Double-Edge, Slam, and Stealth Rock and the ability Rock Head. Start with Stealth Rock, then Screech to lower your opponent's Pokemon Defense. Then, hit them with either Slam or Double-Edge. Due to Rock Head, Double-Edge will not hurt Onix. For another example, have a Cloyster with Skill Link and combination with Spike Cannon and Icicle Spear do real damage. Also, having Super Sonic and Iron Defense is recommended.
- Pokemon abilities works in three different ways: Field Pokemon, Single Battle Pokemon, and Double Battle Pokemon. Single Battle Abilities like Chlorophyl work well with moves like Solar Beam and Sunny Day. Double Battle Abilities like Drizzle and Rain Dish help both Pokemon out. Field Abilities like Cute Charm increase the chance of meeting wild Pokemon and Intimidate decreases the chance of meeting Wild Pokemon.
Breeding
To breed, go to the Pokemon Daycare. Put the two Pokemon that you want to breed (for example, two Empoleons) and wait. Run away for awhile, and take out the Poke App that shows the Pokemon in the Daycare. If they have bred, there will be an egg in the middle. Return to the Daycare and take out the Egg. Make sure you have a space or two so that it can come in. Smart breeding for good eggs are as follows.
- Piplup with Hydro Pump: Breed Empoleon with Hydro Pump with a Piplup
- Pichu with Volt Tackle: Raichu with Volt Tackle, and Pichu.
