Extra lives

Choose mission 4 to get the most amount of lives that you can get at once. When you start, either run up the path where you meet the Chain Chomp, or get in the cannon and shoot yourself to where the bridge ends. If you run up the path, continue past the Chain Chomp and over the bridge. Jump onto the higher level of the ground. Go over to the two brick blocks to the left and destroy the left one. A mushroom should pop out. Grab the mushroom to turn big. Continue up the path, destroying anything such as enemies, signs, balls, blocks, etc. When you hit the number 7, you should get an extra life for everything else you destroy. Repeat this process to get as many lives as desired.

Eat a silver star

Then there should be a Goomba that has a silver star inside of him. When you see him, swallow him into a egg and it will look like you ate a silver star. Note: You can do this at any place as long there are enemies that have silver stars inside them.

Teleportation

In the mountain where the cannonballs are rolling, about a little more than half way through you will see a tunnel looking location. Go in it, stop walking, and press Y. You should go to the top tunnel.

Defeating Koopa The Quick

Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi can triple jump up to the bridge just past Chain Chomp. When racing Koopa the Quick, this can give you a big head start, and you can defeat Koopa The Quick very easily.

Climbing

Go underneath the first bridge. Jump up and hold B and you will be climbing up.
