More:The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion (Xbox 360): Glitches
From GameWinners
Note
- Since the game's original release, there was an Xbox Live update for The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion. If you wish to use the glitches, do not download it. It patches a lot of glitches, including the "Duplicate items" and "Unlimited gold" type glitches.
- You can delete all patches for the game by using the "Clear hard drive cache" code for the Xbox 360.
Duplicate items
- Equip any set of arrows. Draw your bow back. While it is drawn back, press B to go to your inventory screen. Select any other set of arrows you own and press A(2). Find an item to be duplicated and drop it. Return to your weapons screen and drop any set of arrows.
- Equip a bow and a quiver of arrows. Hold the arrow back. As you are holding it back, press B to go to your inventory screen. Select the arrows that you are using and go to the item to be duplicated. Press X to drop the item and leave the equipment screen and resume the game. The item that you dropped will be duplicated. You can pick up all the duplicates and use or sell them. The amount of copies of an item you make depends on how many arrows you have equipped. For example, 10 arrows allows 10 copies. This works with most, but not all, items or weapons.
- Get a bow and a decent amount of arrows (50 to 70). Equip them. Draw the bow back without firing. Press B and go to your inventory. Select your arrow set twice. Go to the item to be duplicated and drop it. Note The amount of arrows you have determines the number of items you can duplicate.
- Use a melee weapon. Swing you weapon and in mid swing press B. Go to your arrows and equip them twice. Then, go to the item you wish to duplicate and drop it. Resume game play and it will be duplicated.
- Note: If you have used this glitch to various items that you do not need and have left them laying around, you may experience slow gameplay. To solve this problem, pick up any of the items you tested with and drop them all together. All of the items will be stacked into one item. For example, pick up 30 shirts drop them all together to create one shirt that is described as "Shirt(30)".
- This glitch is used to duplicate items. It works before and after the update which made the other duplicate item glitch useless. Use a weapon and press RT to attack. Before the attack animation is over, go into your inventory (B). Go to your weapons and select any set of arrows to equip. Press A until it says that you cannot switch weapons while attacking. Then, go to the item you wish to duplicate and drop it. Next, leave your inventory and you will duplicate the item. Note: Some items cannot be duplicated. When you select the set of arrows, the amount of arrows is how many of the item you will get. For example, if you select 100 arrows, 100 duplicates of the item will be made. Also, be aware that if you create too high of a number of duplicates, the game may freeze or lag. It is recommended that you do no more than 100 at a time. You can also use this trick to get an unlimited amount of money. Get an item that is worth 600 coins exactly when you are selling it. Make sure you are in the Thieves Guild so that you can sell things to Ongar in Bruma. Make duplicates of the item and sell them to him one at a time. He only has 600 coins that he uses to purchase items. For some reason if you sell something to him worth exactly 600 coins, he does not run out of money. Keep repeating this process to get as much money as desired.
- Use the following trick to multiply any non-quest item. You will need a bow, some arrows, and anything you want to multiply that can be dropped. First, have your bow and arrow equipped and make sure the item to be duplicated is in your inventory. Next, hold the firing trigger (RT). Keep it held down so that you are pulling back the arrow. While holding RT, press B to go into your inventory. Find the arrows that you have equipped (make sure it is not too many or you may freeze the game). Then, highlight the equipped arrows and press A. You should get the "You cannot unequip a weapon while attacking" message. If you do not get that message, start over. After you press A on the arrows, go down in your inventory and find the item you want to duplicate. Highlight it and press X to drop it. Release RT then press B. You will fire the arrow and it should hit the item you dropped, and cause it to split into that item multiplied by however many arrows you had equipped. For example, twenty iron arrows equipped and one Bow of Infernal Ice results in twenty Bows of Infernal Ice. Note: This may only be able to be done if you have not patched the game. It still may require a few attempts. This trick does not work on quest items that you cannot drop and it apparently does not work on Nirnroot.
- Buy more than one of the same spell scroll. When you are ready, press B to enter your inventory and press A(2) on the spell scrolls. Then, press X to drop the item you wish to duplicate, and exit the inventory. Note: This glitch does not work with stolen or quest items.
- Use the following item duplication trick to prevent the game from lagging. If you do not have the patch, pull back your weapon. Then, at any time during the attack, press B. Select the equipped arrows twice. Note: The number of arrows in the next step (x)will be the number of items you get through. Drop the item you wish to duplicate x times. For example, have 300 arrows. Hold R and during the attack press B. Select the arrows twice, drop 25 scrolls. There should now be 12 items on the ground, all scrolls. Each one is described as scroll (25). This can prevent serious lag. Instead of having 300 separate scrolls, you will have 12 units of scroll (25). If you have the patch, there is a possible way to duplicate. Use the following example. Have two scrolls of one type and one scroll of another type. Select the scrolls, of which you have two, twice with A. Then, drop the second scroll. There should be two on the ground. Pick one up. Duplicate that one and pick all three up. Select the second scroll, of which you have three now, twice with A, then drop the first scroll. One should be dropped and duplicated; do not leave the inventory. Select the first scroll twice and drop the second scroll. You should have six. This can be done as many times as necessary until you acquire enough scrolls. The duplication can be used on any item (except quest and special name items). Also this process cannot be used on any enchanted weapons acquired before the patch.
- This trick be used both in post-patch and pre-patch games. Get an even number of arrows or scrolls (depending if you have the patch or not). Make sure that the amount of the item you wish to duplicate is one less than your arrows or scrolls. Continue to duplicate the item consecutively until all of that item is purged from your inventory. For example, assume you have 100 scrolls or arrows and 99 apples. Select the arrows or scrolls twice then drop and duplicate the apples. It should not work fully. Select the arrows or scrolls twice yet again, then drop the apples. Again, it should not fully work. Continue this until there are no apples left. Instead of 100 apples or 9,900 apples, there should be about 14,750 apples on the ground. However it would only appear that about 300 apples are on the ground.
Duplicate items and flying paint brushes after game update
In order to do this you must do the following things.
Before you update the game you must save 100 times with 100 duplicated
items that are either armor, weapons, potions, or ingredients.
Then, place 15 paint brushes in the air and stack them on top
of other, but space them so that you can stand on them. You must
not use the duplicated items, only the original. After you do
that, stand on the tallest one and save 100 times on it. Turn
off the Xbox 360. Turn it back on, then update the game and load
the saved file. You should be still floating in the air with the
paint brushes. The copied items should also be there. If they
are, you can use the glitches. You cannot do this if you already
updated the game before doing this.
Duplicate items after Game Of The Year update
Once you have download the Game Of The Year version, the game is patched so you can no longer duplicate items the normal way. Use the following trick to get around this. To duplicate items, all you need are scrolls. Obtain as many as desired. The scrolls must be of the same type. Go into your inventory and tap A(2) on your scrolls. Then, go to the item you want to duplicate and drop it. You should have your item duplicated.
Permanent enchantment
- Use the following trick for duplication or a permanent enchantment. You can duplicate a drop-able item, and if that item is equipable with constant effect enchantments you can make them permanent. However, the item once made permanent cannot be re-equipped. But each enchanted item is different. You can use the duplication glitch to make as many as you desired, then sell them. Use the "Duplicate items" cheat with a bow an arrows to duplicate the items to make permanent. Equip one of the items you want to make permanent. There must be an unequipped version still in your inventory for this to work. Use the "Duplicate items" glitch again. However, drop the unequipped version of the item you have equipped and want to make permanent. The equipped one and the others will drop and you will never be able to equip that item again. However if you check your stats the items bonuses will be permanent. You can duplicate anything that can be dropped, including Grand Soul Gems with Grand Souls captured.
- Note: This glitch only works with wearable items. Take any wearable item with a magical enchantment that you wish to make permanent and duplicate it twice so that you have two of that item. Pick up the item and equip one. While you are wearing that item, duplicate the one you are not wearing by at least four. Note: the number of arrows used determines how many copies are made. Both items will drop on the ground in stacks of two. You are now no longer wearing that item, yet you still have its effects. Note: These effects are permanent. Do not attempt this with any item with an effect you may want to remove later, such as Water Walking, Night Eye, etc.
- Note: This trick only works with items that you wear on your body that have enchantments (no weapons). Duplicate the item that you want to get the enchantment from by using the "Duplicate items" glitch, or by having two of the same pieces or armor with the same enchantment. Put one of the items on. Then, use the "Duplicate items" glitch, but drop the item that you are not wearing. You should still have the one that you were wearing in your inventory but unequipped. If this happened, you will have the enchantment that was on the armor on your character forever. However, you will never wear that piece of armor again.
Super character
There are three steps to get a super powerful character.
You can even do this at the begining of the game. First, go into
an Oblivion Gate and go to the top. Save the game in front if
the Sigil Stone. Keep picking up the stone until you get one with
Fortify Strength 7 points. Duplicate the stone eight times. If
you have a rare piece of armor (for example, the Umbra Ebony)
and do not want to get rid of it, duplicate every piece twice
and take one set of armor. then, enchant a necklace or amulet,
two rings, and a full set of clothing or armor (such as the Umbra
Ebony as mentioned earlier) with the Sigil Stones that fortify
strength. Your character should be very powerful and attacks against
you should be very weak. However, you must have the armor equipped
for this to work.
Invincibility
- Make sure you are far enough in the game so you can get a Sigil Stone from a tower. Save the game before taking the Sigil Stone, then take it. Check if it is 20% Defense On Self. If it is not, load the game you just saved and keep doing the steps until you get a 20% Defense On Self Sigil Stone. Then, do the "Duplicate item" glitch on it five times and use it on five pieces of armor. If done correctly you should be invincible to weapon damage. Note: This can be done with 20% magic defense. Advantages including being able to stand in front of an enemy and let him hit you; your Armor skill will increase. If your armor gets damaged, just repair it to increase your Armorer skill. It is also much easier to complete the Imperial City Arena.
- Get two sets of armor (armor, helm, gloves, greaves, rings, amulets, etc.). Use the "Non-random Sigil Stone" hint until you have a 10% Shield Sigil Stone. Then, find another Oblivion Gate and get a Sigil Stone with Magic Defense of 10% or more. Use a duplicate item glitch to make about sixteen of each Sigil Stone. Enchant one set of armor with the Shield stone, then the other set with the Magic Defense stone. Then use the "Permanent enchantment" glitch to get a 100% shield (which blocks melee damage) and 100% Magic Defense (which blocks magic damage) to become almost invincible. If you get cast with a weakness to elements skill you can get damaged. You can also do this with any other effects desired, such as Chameleon.
Unlimited gold
- Go to the Talos Plaza District of the Imperial City. Find a house owned by a men named Dorian (Dorian's House) in the southeast section of the district. Break into his house and find him. When he tells you to leave, kill him. To loot him, do not press X to take all. Instead, take each item individually, finishing with the gold, which will not run out once it hits 8 pieces. Just keep selecting the gold he is carrying and keep pressing A as usual. Do this repeatedly, and the number of gold pieces remaining will freeze when it gets down to 8 gold pieces. It will not go any lower, but will just keep giving you as much gold as desired. Note: After you break in and he tells you to get out, talk to him. Go to "Persuade" and bribe him a lot. After that, kill him. He will now have more money to loot, which makes it easier to get more faster.
and
- Note: To get unlimited gold from Dorian easier, use the following trick. First, bribe him until you cannot do so anymore. Then, hit him with your weakest weapon. preferably your fists. Then, quickly hold block and talk to yield to him. Because he is your friend, he will stop fighting. Then, talk to him again. His relationship will have dropped because you hit him, allowing you to bribe him more. Make sure you do not hit him too much or he will run away. Once his health gets low, the guards will probably charge you. After spending your time or paying them, go back to his house. Notice that his health is still low from your attacks. Wait exactly 24 hours and his health will be reset. repeat the entire process to get the desired amount of gold. Once you select the money from his pocket it will not go away, leaving you with unlimited money.
- Note: When you attack Dorian and yield, after awhile he will run off. To prevent this, when he is low on health use any "Heal Others" spell on Dorian. You may then continue to bribe and attack him.
- Visit the Talos Plaza in the Imperial District and find Dorian in his house. Talk to him and select the Speechcraft icon to learn that he likes-boast and coerce and dislikes-admire and joke. Instead of making him like you, make him hate you. Bribe him until around 60, then make him hate you. Keep repeating this as long as your patience lasts. Note: The more you do this, the quicker it will be to increase your money. Kill him but do not let him run, etc. or he will contact the guards. Search him and take all his possessions except for his money. Exit the search screen and re-enter it. Then, keep pressing A on his money. You will be allowed to retake it without it disappearing.
- Go to Imperial City Talos Plaza. To the left of the Septim Hotel is a house belonging to Dorian. Go inside. He will probably be to the right of the staircase. Walk up to him, and bribe him as much as you can, giving him as much gold as possible. Then, kill him. Be careful, because he will run when close to death. Once he is dead, pick up each item individually by pressing A. Make sure to pick up his gold last. When you do, keep pressing A on it and you should get plenty of gold.
- This trick allows you to earn free money extremely fast. Go to Kvatch where all the citizens are. While on horseback, talk to the female Orc and sell her your equipped sword. The message "You cannot unequip this item" will appear, but it will still give you the money. You can do this as many times as desired for 200 gp each time. This only works with your sword, and any other items will be sold as usual.
- After becoming a vampire in the Dark Brotherhood quest line, proceed to complete the "Cure For Vampirism" quest. After giving the Counts' wife the potion, he will want to wait a day before he will talk to you again. After that day, when you talk to him he will reward you with 500 gold. However, you can keep talking to him and select "Reward" each time. You will be given 500 gold each time you talk to him, even if you leave and come back. However, when you do go back make sure you select his room lock and bribe him fully so that the guards do not get called.
- After you have completed the vampire quest, talk to Count Hassildor of Skingrad. When it is time to ask for your reward, he will give you a hefty 10,000 gp. If you continue to ask the Count for the reward, he will continue to give you your reward. Repeat this many times as desired.
- Note: You must have a horse and an expensive weapon, the more expensive the better. Get on your horse and fast travel to Kavcth. Once there, equip your most expensive weapon and get on your horse. Travel until you find a little camp on the road to Kavtch. Talk to the Orc merchant while on your horse. Barter with her and go to where you can sell items to her. Once there, you can sell your most expensive weapon and keep selling it repeatedly. It will never disappear, and you can get as much money as desired.
- When you become a vampire, seek the Mages Guild help in the Arcane University. You are sent to Skingard to talk to the count. The count tells you who to seek out in order to get the cure. Complete this mission and the count will tell you to return in a day The cure is for his wife. She dies after she takes it. After a day he gives you a reward. In the conversation window that appears, select the reward Tab once it goes black, indicating that you have used it. Rapidly tap A repeatedly and he will keep giving you gold. Note: you must complete this task before the mage's second or third task because after that the Count of Skingard will not talk to you.
- A woman will approach you in the Imperial City and ask you to see a man. Go to this house. He will tell you that he and his group are vampire hunters. Follow the the Virtuous Order quest line. You will find out the man you are hunting is not a vampire. Do not kill him. Talk to him and he will say that the man that sent you is actually the vampire. Go to the bookstore. The man will tell you about a cave. Travel there and wipe out all the vampires. Take their vampire dust. Once you have killed the main vampire, return to the Imperial City. You will be rewarded with a ring, but he also tells you that the order will compensate you for every vampire that you kill. All you need for proof is vampire dust. Use the "Duplicate items" glitch on the vampire dust to get as many as desired. Keep talking to the man about vampires and he will keep rewarding you as long as you have enough vampire dust. This results in 250 gold for each vampire dust you have.
- Use the "Duplicate items" glitch inside a store. Make sure that the item you duplicate is worth alot. Sell all but one of the item that was duplicated then repeat the process as many times as desired. It is possible to make up to 50,000 gold in a few minutes.
- This trick requires a Black Bow, a Bow, and two different kinds of Bows (for example Steel and Iron). Also the "Knight of the White Stallion" must have been successfully completed by talking to the male in the castle of Leyawijn). After completing the "Knight of the White Stallion" mission, you can sell your Black Bow to the male in the castle of Leyawijn. He is one of the court. Every bow will give you 100 gold. Save your game because if you hit the male by accident the guards will be all over you. Stand next to the male so that you can speak with him. Use the "Duplicate items" glitch to duplicate your bow next to the male (when he is sitting in his throne). Pick up every bow that you have (the more arrows the more bows). When he says that you are over numbered you can continue picking up more bows. After picking up every bow, throw one on the ground (to make sure you do not sell all of your bows). Speak with the male and sell your bows. When you choose one time for yes, you can continue by pressing A. It is possible to sell 125 bows for 12,500 gold in five minutes. The more arrows you use to duplicate, the more bows will drop. Note: Do not use too many or the game will freeze.
- Buy a horse from anyone at Cyrodils Stables. The stables are located outside of any town. The marker looks like a cup. When you buy a horse, fast travel to the city of Kvatch and not to the Oblivion gate to the marker below that. Get off your horse and equip your most valuable weapon. Then, get back on the horse. Ride the horse and look to your left until you see an Orc with little black curls. Talk to her. Go to "Sell Items". She should have 200 gold, depending on your Mercantile. If your Mercantile is high, she will have 700 gold. Sell your equipped weapon repeatedly to get 700 gold each time. You gain up to 5,000 gold in five minutes.
- Quick travel to the Talos Plaza District of the Imperial City. Walk towards the statue in the middle. Turn right and pass under the archway. Go into the first house on the left (Dorian's house). Run in quickly and kill Dorian, as he will run outside to alert the guards. Search his corpse and you will find that he has an assortment of clothing, Dorian's House Key, and a random amount of gold. Select the gold and press A. The amount will decrease slightly but will still remain. You can continue pressing A for as long as desired. Do not press X to take all or the game will freeze.
- If you have completed the quest "Order Of The Virtuous Blood", you can gain unlimited amounts of gold by selling Vampire Ashes to Roland in Seridur's basement. Just get a portion of Vampire Ashes and duplicate it. Then, talk to Roland and just keep activating the topic "Vampire". Keep pressing A until he stops saying "Excellent..." and you should have a hefty amount of gold. Note: Save at lest one portion before selling it all so you do not have to hunt for more.
tupeosc uag, ao
- Use this trick to get unlimited gold post patch. It requires that you have paralyze. Use the same method essentially as stated before in the former "Unlimited gold" glitch with the twist being you paralyze him instead of killing him, making sure as before not to do "Take All" and just keep selecting the gold he has. Note: Bribing Dorian only works based on how much Dorian can hold, which varies based on player stats. The lower your level the less he holds and the higher your level the more he holds. The more he can hold the faster you can gain gold.
- Get the Spelldrinker Amulet from Raminus Polus at the Arcane University. Enable the "Duplicate item" glitch on it until you have as many as desired. Then, go to the red diamond jewelry in the market district of the Imperial City. They can be sold for 800 gold.
- This trick will award you with 999 gold every time. Use the "Duplicate items" glitch on the Jewel Of The Rumare. Take all the duplicates to Borbas Goods and Stores in Cheydinhal. The store is located downhill from Castle Cheydinhal. When you go to sell the Jewel Of The Rumare to Borbas, sell it one at a time because she only has 1,000 gold to buy items with. However if you sell one-at-a-time each time, her gold never decreases and your money will increase in no time.
- During the Cure For Vampirism quest, do not drink the potion after you get it. Instead, take the potion to the count in Skingraad and give it to him first. Wait to drink the potion after you ask him about a reward. He will say something about you still being a vampire and give you 5,000 gold instead. If you keep asking him about a reward he will keep giving you 5,000 gold.
- Note: This trick requires an unpatched version of the game. This can be done by clearing the hard drive cache. Note: When you start the game after the cache clearing, manually select the file to load at the main menu. You will see a message that reads something similar to "This save contains data that is no longer present. Do you still wish to continue?". Select "Yes" or you cannot load the save. It does not in any way affect the save. Saving while in the unpatched version does not alter any data when you reconnect to Xbox Live. The update will be applied to the save at the same time it is downloaded without fear of losing anything that had been gained in the game. Do all four quests for Vicente Valtiere in the Dark Brotherhood Side Quests. When you have completed his fourth mission (the final one for him), he will tell you that he now extends the offer to become a vampire. Do so. When are done running around as a vampire, return to Vicente and ask about the cure. He will point to the Head Mage at the Arcane University. Talk to him about the cure as well. He will then point you to Hassilidor at Castle Skingrad. Talk to him to learn about the Witch. Do the quests for her to gain the cure for vampirism. Take it back to the castle in Skingrad and talk to the advisor. Follow her to see a short cinematic. Wait 24 hours and talk to the advisor again. She will fetch the count. Talk to him when he arrives, and one option will be "Reward". You can then select this option repeatedly to gain 5,000 gold each time.
Powerful bow
For this trick you must have access to the Arcane University,
and/or have finished the Mage's Guild quest line and have become
Arch-Mage. Make sure that you have a few Grand Soul Gems in order
to enchant items. If you need more than one, just use the duplication
glitch. First, go to either the Chironasium, or to the Arch-Mage's
quarters if available. Go to the Altar of Enchanting and select
your Grand Soul Gem. As your weapon, choose your favorite bow.
Select both Weakness to Fire 100% for 1 second and Fire Damage
20 points for 1 second in 17 feet. If you have used a Grand Soul
Gem, you will most likely be able to use the bow multiple times.
Finish enchanting and exit. At some point you will have a quest
in the Fighter's Guild in which you must kill all of the Blackwood
Company members and destroy the Hist tree. One of the members
will have an enchanted bow and quite a few varieties of enchanted
arrows. Take the Arrow of Cleansing and duplicate it until you
have hundreds of them. You now have an extremely powerful bow
and arrow combination that can kill almost anything with one shot,
not to mention everything around them, especially if you sneak
attack. Remember to keep duplicating your arrows and recharging
your bow, because it is nearly useless without the enchantment.
Free enchanted robes and daggers
Go to Arcane University and get the Legion Battlemages to attack you. Try pickpocketing them. When they pursue you, run around to Mage Scholars and Apprentices. The battlemage(s) should get in a fight with the Scholars and Apprentices. If the Battlemage kills a Scholar you can get enchanted robes and/or enchanted daggers. You can also loot the Battlemage's body.
BrumaTestHouse
This trick requires Xbox Live. Download the Frostcrag Spire content. Go inside and save your game while standing in the Oblivion section of the garden (with Blood Grass). Go the the Xbox Dashboard and delete the Frostcrag Spire content. When you start the game again and try to load your file, it will state that you are missing needed data. Ignore this and continue. You should be in a Bruma house (the BrumaTestHouse). When you go outside, you will be in a ring of Bruma houses with a bonfire in the middle. Next to the fire is an ebony mace, "The Mace of Doom". It is an incredibly strong mace, and perhaps the strongest weapon in the game. If you look around there should be two other houses you can enter. One has nothing in it. The other takes you to a Sigil Keep. At the top is a Sigil Stone that is just out of reach. You must to jump to get it. Be careful, as the fall will cause damage. When falling, try to get to the door and leave before hitting the ground. It should have given you one of every Sigil Stone. The longer you stay in the Sigil Keep, the more stones you can get. The only limit is the amount of weight you can carry. Also, your fame should have increased to about 383 points. In the distance you can see floating trees. If you run towards them you will see that they are actually on a hill that becomes visible at a certain distance. When you get there, there should be a giant floating bridge and three castles with no way in. There is also a farmhouse you can enter with a zombie inside. Note: Be careful while doing this. If you have anything in the Frostcrag Spire, when you delete it they will be gone forever. You can redownload the Frostcrag Spire content again, but it will not have your lost items.
Unlimited steel arrows
Go to Bazur gro-Gharz's house in Cheydinhal. He sleeps
about 5 a.m. to 6 a.m. Kill him while he is sleeping. Then, check
his body. To get unlimited arrows you must take the arrows first,
then keep taking them in quantities of twenty. The game will glitch
and you will have unlimited arrows.
Stray arrows
Enter the basement of the Fighters Guild in Chorrol.
Stand in front of the dummy and pull back an arrow. It will appear
to be transparent. When you let go it will shoot in a random direction.
This effect does not disappear unless you reload your game or
save and load.
Six times the sneak damage with bows
You must be fairly far away from your target. Simply
aim at your target and fire. While your arrow is in flight, quickly
switch to your melee weapon. If you manage to switch weapons before
the arrow hits your target you will deal six times the damage
with your bow instead of three times.
Unlimited lockpicks
Note: This will work in the patched version of the
game. This trick requires any weapon of your choice (for example,
an Iron War Axe). Select and equip your weapon. Duck swing, but
before the attack animation is over, enter your inventory and
select any type of arrows (no more than 200). Then, drop the item
of choice. Note that some items cannot be duplicated.
More Sigil Stones
You can receive more than one Sigil Stone at a time. To do this, activate the Sigil Stone. As soon as the Sigil Stone gets very small and is about to explode, repeatedly press A. It is possible to get a total of four at a time. Note: Your timing must be very precise, and you must press A button very rapidly.
Barrier
Find a paintbrush then use the "Duplicate items" glitch
to get least fifty paintbrushes. Drop all of them in a circle
around you, then attack any guard. They will try to arrest you,
but cannot reach you because the paintbrushes will float in midair
when you drop them. Attempt to sleep twelve times, then take some
of the paintbrushes so that the guard can arrest you. Resist,
then yield. The fines will be significantly reduced. This will
not work with patched games.
Clavius Vile quest
When you play the Daedric quest "Clavius Vile"
and you either give the Umbrea sword back or to Vile, the system
sometimes freezes as soon as you make your choice. To counter
this, fast travel anywhere, but do not move. After the hound is
done talking, fast travel again, but do not move. After the second
fast travel, the quest should be completed and you can continue.
This may require a few attempts, but it should work.
To do the Deadric quest (Clavius Vile), you must be level 20.
In the quest you must go to a ruin called Vindasel that is located
southwest of the Imperial City's waterfront district and kill
a girl named Umbra and retrieve a sword called the Umbra sword.
If you have obtained the sword before the quest, you can still
complete it even if you are not at level 20. If you talk to the
statue after leaving its offering, you will get a journal entry
stating that you must be level 20 to begin the quest. However
if you have the sword with you, another entry will appear, stating
that you have the Umbra sword and you should go back to the shrine
and give it to Clavicus Vile. After you give him the sword, he
will reward you with an enchanted helmet called the Masque Of
Clavicus Vile.
Dark Brotherhood quest: Getting Dark Elf merchant killed
When you must do the quest for the Dark Brotherhood,
from the dead drop which tells you to track down a dark elf merchant
who travels from town to town, wait for him to go to Bruma and
go into the Inn. He will usually be sitting around and drinking
and eating, and perhaps talking. Look above the table nearest
the dark corner of the inn. You will see rafters that you can
jump up in. Note: You may have to be wood elf or a smaller race.
Make sure to have a bow. Take your bow out and get above the Dark
Elf merchant that you must kill. Shoot him in the head and he
will get up and swing at nothing. Make sure there are others in
the room because they will get up and start attacking the Dark
Elf. When he is dead, jump down and run out. You will get the
credit for killing him.
Nightmare Darkly quest: Umbra
For this to work you will need to have retrieved Umbra's
Sword and assign it to a ready-use slot. Speak will the female
Argonian at the Bravil Mages Guild to receive the "Nightmare
Darkly" quest. When you begin the quest you will be stripped
of your entire inventory and cannot defend yourself. However when
you enter the Test Of Resolve you will be presented with a few
weaker weapons in the chest to the left. Instead, use the ready-use
slot to equip Umbra. You will be able to easily kill the minotaurs.
Main quest
This trick requires ten to fifteen paintbrushes. they can be found anywhere in the game, particularly in boxes, shelves, etc. You can use this glitch even if you have not started the main quest yet. Once you acquire the of paintbrushes, go in front of the Temple Of The One in the Imperial City Temple District. Climb you way to the top using the "Floating paintbrushes" glitch. Once you are close to the top, jump on the roof. You will go through, landing inside The Temple Of The One. You can see everybody else but they cannot see you. Walk close to where the door would be if you were inside it normally. You will see the top half of the same door you are in front of. Select it to enter the real interior of The Temple Of The One. Notice the hole in the ceiling where the light comes down. You will see a red sky. Walk outside and and two Oblivion Gates will be opened. Your quest will be updated, stating that Dagon is here and that you should talk to Martin. Even if you are not close to completing the main quest this glitch will still work. Go inside both of the Oblivion Gates and get the Sigil Stones. Later you will end up crossing over Dagon. Kill him then talk to Martin in the Cloud Ruler temple.
Out of the starting cell
In order to do this you must get your Sneak skill to at least 75 before you do anything else after starting a new character. Then, go to the cell door and have Valen Dreth do his speech. When the guards come down, go into sneak mode and get just between the two iron gates. If you are lucky you can pickpocket the guards. If you get caught, do not worry -- they will open the gates and come in. If you get out of the cell before they do too much, you will be free to roam around that little area as the door at the top of the stairs cannot be activated. You can get your Hand To Hand, Block and Destruction skills up, and your Blade skill if you manage to successfully pickpocket Captain Renault.
Keep bound armor or weapons
First, make a spell that disintegrate armor and weapon on self. Alternately, make one of each -- then any spell that bounds armour and weapons. Unequip all armor and weapons. Then, bound helmet then damage it using the spell Disintegrate Armor. After that, repair it then equip another item in its place. Equip a normal helmet or hood, then drop the bound helmet after the time for the bound helmet runs out. Pick it back up and it is yours to keep. The same thing can be done with any bound item. For example, bound axe, disintegrate weapon, repair it and equip
any hand weapon, then drop the bound axe. The better your Conjuration skill, the more powerful you armor or weapon will be.
Exceed weight carrying limit
To do this trick you must first either do the "Bruma test house" glitch, or "Non random Sigil Stones" until you receive nine of the Feather Sigil Stones. Once that is done, acquire a full set of armor: helmet, cuirass, gauntlets, greaves, boots, shield, amulet and two rings. Enchant each piece of armor with a Sigil Stone. Do not wear any of the armor until you are over encumbered, at which time equip one piece of armor. Repeat this until you have equipped all of your armor and are now carrying a large amount of items. Note: If you try to equip all the armor at once, you will not receive the same amount of bonus that you would if you become over-encumbered, equip, overen-cumbered, equip, etc.
Keep summoned items
Summon an item, then damage it. If it is a weapon, then use it on a monster or person; if it is armor then get damaged. After it is at 99 health (should be only one hit), quickly go to the item menu and repair it. After repairing it you will be able to drop it. After t is dropped, wait for the spell to wear off. The item will still be on the ground. Pick it up and you will have a very good no weight weapon or some weightless heavy armor.
Equipped sword but using hand to hand
Note: Save the game before attempting this, as the game may freeze. To do this, you will need a Bound Sword spell and have done the glitch where you get to keep your bound sword. Equip the bound sword in your inventory and cast Bound Sword. You must cast a Dispel spell on yourself or wait until the timer ends. When you have two bound swords, equip one and drop the other. Both swords should have been dropped, but you will have a bound sword in your hand while using hand-to-hand combat.
Unnamed sword
Use the "Duplicate items" glitch on a paint brush. After getting at least twenty paintbrushes, go outside of "A Fighting Chance" in the Imperial City market district at midnight. Drop a paintbrush. Notice that it will float. Get on top of the brush and repeat the process to form a set of stairs. After you get high enough to reach the top of the Fighting Chance store, get on top of the building. You will see a chest that is locked. The lockpick level is very difficult. Lockpick it and look inside to find an odd sword without a name. The sword has no attack and breaks easily. It cannot be sold.
Invisible inventory
Press B then Start. Then quickly press B(3). You should see your character as you would in the inventory, but without the inventory part.
Walk through wall
In Imperial City waterfront, you can walk through a
wall and run down it from one side to another. You can see out,
but no one can see in.
Swim in air
- Commit any crime and resist arrest. Lure the guard into water then go under water. Yield to the guard and pay the gold. Once you are at the outside of the castle of the town or city you committed the crime at, switch to third person view by clicking the Right Analog-stick. Notice it appears that you are swimming in air. Move around and you will notice that you can swim out of water.
- In Lewawin, equip a bow and fire an arrow at a guard near a body of water. Run into the water until you are completely in. When the guard asks what you want to do, choose the option to resist arrest. When he starts attacking you, go into third person view and yield him to stop by blocking then pressing A. This time, chose the option to pay the fine. When the screen loads you should be swimming, but outside the water.
Enter other provinces
Enter any city and have at least twenty paintbrushes.
Then use the "floating paintbrush" trick to reach and
jump on the city walls. Then, jump outside of the city. Because
the land outside the city has not loaded yet, you can walk into
the any of the bordering provinces without the "turn back"
message appearing. Note: After walking so far into another province,
your character will fall through the map and die. Save the game
before attempting this. Because the ground is invisible (the trees,
bushes, rocks can still be seen) it is difficult to tell when
you will fall through.
See underwater
Go into first person view. Go under the water, but
make sure you can see above the surface from the middle of the
screen and up. From the middle down you should be able to see,
as of looking above the surface.
Get behind Arena gate
Get into third person view in the Arena. Go left when
the gate drops and jump on the ledge where the other locked gate
is, While pointing toward the gap look left and right a few times
to wiggle through the gap to get behind the gate. You cannot get
hit and can just conjure skeletons to do all the work. Do the
same thing to get out.
Berserk skulls
At the beginning of the game you must make your way
through a series of caves. Toward the end of those caves (just
before you get outside), there will be some ropes hanging from
the ceiling with four skulls attached to them. Shoot the far top
and far right skull with your bow. This should make that line
of skulls go berserk.
Staying in jail forever
Note: Save your game before attempting this. Do something
bad so that the guards will go after you. When they catch you,
chose go to jail. While in jail, stand next to the cell door while
in sneak/crouch mode. The guard should walk by after a few minutes.
When he does, press A to pickpocket him. Keep stealing
from him until he catches you. This time the guard will not ask
you to go to jail, pay the fine, etc. He will just try to kill
you. The guard however cannot open the cell door. He will just
keep running toward you, but cannot do anything. You cannot hurt
him because you cannot punch through the cell door. If you go
to your bed and select "Sleep your sentence", it will
say that you cannot because enemies are nearby. You are now stuck
in jail forever, or until you load another game.
Lock pick
When picking a lock, there is a way to get it to automatically
picked virtually every time, regardless of the lock's difficulty.
Do the very first spring manually. Once it is in place, do the
following. As you press the Analog-stick to go to the next
spring, press X button a split second afterwards. The arrow
should be in between the first and second springs as you press
X. If done correctly, you will get the lock open on the
very first try.
Floating paintbrushes
There are paintbrushes stored in random containers
at various locations. If you take one out and drop it, it will
not fall. It will just float in the location you were looking
at when you dropped it. You can drop them in sets of two or more
and use them as steps to reach high places. You can also use them
as barriers between you and enemies.
Entering Arcane University faster
Get about five or six paintbrushes, then go directly outside the Arcane University wall. Keep using the paintbrushes like stepping stones until you get over the wall. Once inside you can go anywhere but in the lobby. If you want to finish the mage quest you must do the recommendations. You will need your mages guild key to get into the places inside.
Fixing Mystic Emporium after Fighters Stronghold and Wizards Tower download
There is a problem where the door to Mystic Emporium becomes permanently locked after downloading both the Fighters Stronghold and the Wizards Tower (Frostcraig Spire) content. To fix this, go to the Mystic Emporium. Use your Lockpicking skills to get inside. After you are inside wait for a time for them to go upstairs and try to sleep (try about 11 p.m.). They will both be standing at the very top of the stairs waiting in front of the door. Unlock their door with a lockpick or by any other means. They will go to bed. The problem is now fixed. You can now enter and exit whenever desired, as the door to the place will always be unlocked.
Sit on air
- When Lucien Luchance is dead and the woman wants you to ask her about the Night Mother between 12:00 and 3:00, sit and wait until then. There is a bench near her. Sit there, and at the required time talk to her while you are sitting. You will be teleported to Bravil. If you go into third person mode, after she talks to you you should be sitting without anything underneath. When the others enter the crypt, press A to get up and follow.
- Find any three books. Place two vertically on the chair, one leaning on each arm of the chair, then place one horizontally in between the two vertical books. Then, sit on your chair. If done correctly, you should sit on the chair, move through the back of the chair one chair length, then sit down on nothing behind the chair.
Straight position character
Use the Right Analog-stick to enter third person
view. Look up at the ceiling or the sky until you cannot see your
character. Then, press B for the menu and your character
should be straight instead of being in the attack position.
Stuck to chair
Do the Dark Brotherhood quests, where you must murder
a man named Baenlin in his house between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. by
dropping a wall mounted minotaur head on his skull when he is
sitting in his chair. When you successfully kill Baenlin do not
sit in the same chair that he died in. you will get stuck and
will not be able to get back up. Note: Save the game before attempting
this.
Cannot fast travel anywhere
Make sure you are a part of the Thieves Guild first.
This glitch will be easier to undo if you save your game beforehand
so that it can be reloaded. Do something to where a guard chases
you. When he confronts you, select "Resist Arrest".
Run to any person in the Thieves Guild that can take your bounty
away. When you get to that person, make sure that the guards are
still by you and are chasing you. Before the guards can get to
you, talk to that thief and select the "Take Off My Bounty"
option. After he takes it off, the guards will still be chasing
you. Go up to a guard, hold Block, and select "Talk"
to say that you surrender. This is in the game because if you
hurt a friend and he starts hitting you, it allows you to tell
the friend that you are sorry and he will stop. The guard will
stop hitting you. Go to your map and try to fast travel anywhere.
The game will say you cannot because guards are chasing you.
Throwing a curve ball
Rarely, when you throw a projectile the target will
sometimes move out of the line of fire. If he does, follow him
with the crosshairs. The projectile (for example, a flare) will
stay with the crosshair, making an arc towards the target, lighting
him up. This trick works best with Flare and Turn Undead. Note:
This happens very infrequently.
Bonuses from quest items retained
There is a mission in the mage's guild that requires
you to enter a mage's dream name "Through A Nightmare, Darkly"
for Henantier. As soon as you enter, the text states that you
lost all your items but will keep your skill levels. However if
you have a quest item such as the Ring of the Vipereye or Boots
of Springheel Jack, you will keep the bonuses, even after you
get out of the dream and get your items back. The items will not
be equipped but the skill bonus will still be there. You cannot
re-equip the items, but you can equip other rings or boots and
get their bonuses as well.
Easy block experience
After using the "Invincibility" glitch, join
the arena. Enter a fight and hold Block with tape for an
hour and a half. Check the game occasionally during this time
for when it levels up from Journeymen to Apprentice, etc. because
it will pause. You will gain experience for block and whatever
weight armor you are wearing (light or heavy). Because of the
"Invincibility" glitch you will not be harmed by your
opponents blows.
Easy experience
Before you leave the Imperial Sewers when you meet
back up with the king and company, follow them to where they stop
in a dead end room. Walk in slowly behind them until you hear
the guards say "They are behind us". Then, quickly run
to the room they just came from to fight. Continue fighting as
long as you wish to train. If you need more health, Magika, potions,
etc. or repair hammers, go to the central area. You will see a
little stump of a pole. Jump on it, then jump onto the little
ledge and walk to the little area. Go back in the corner by the
door you entered and use the "Duplicate items" code
to make potions or hammers. If you need to repair your items,
crouch in the corner until the guard kills all the assassins in
the area, then repair. The assassins will never run out. You may
do this as many times as desired. When you are done training talk
to the king and finish the sewers area. You will then be able
to level up according to how much you trained.
Very powerful character
- Use this trick to get permanent enchantment stackable stats. In order to perform this trick, you must make several copies of any normal ring. Then, obtain and make several copies of a Sigil Stone that provides a stat modifier, such as Fortify Strength +12. Build several magic rings with that stone. Make sure to name each ring differently, such as Ring 1, Ring 2, etc. When a suitable number of rings is made (ten is plenty) start making copies of each ring using a quiver of two arrows so that you have just one copy of each ring. Then, equip "Ring 1", and start the duplication process, dropping the unequipped copy of "Ring 1". This will of course leave the permanent enchantment of the ring on your character, and make "Ring 1" and its copy unwearable. Repeat this process with Ring 2, Ring 3, etc. until the target stat is high enough for your liking. Then, sell the rings to make a nice profit.
- This glitch requires using the Non-random Sigil Stone", Duplicate items", and "Permanent enchantment" glitches. First, use the Non-random Sigil Stone glitch to find a Sigil Stone that has the Fortify Strength 7 points enchantment. Use the "Duplicate items" glitch to make as many copies of this stone as desired (eleven recommended). Find a simple piece of armor such as a necklace. Use the "Duplicate items" glitch to make as many copies as desired of the necklace. Once again try to make eleven copies. Next, enchant a necklace with the "Fortify Strength 7 points" enchantment. Use the "Permanent enchantment" glitch on the necklace you just enchanted. This should have given you a seven point strength bonus, even though you are not wearing the necklace. Notice that after you use the "Permanent Enchantment" glitch on an item you cannot re-equip it. Simply throw the enchanted necklace away. You should have ten necklaces and ten Sigil Stones remaining. Keep repeating this process. Remember, you will need one extra necklace and stone so you can duplicate them again. By the time you have one of each item left, your strength should now have been increased by 70. Note: You can use this system for any Sigil Stone desired; it does not need to be Fortify Strength 7 points. Just make sure it is not something like Night Eye that you may want to get rid of later.
Quest items remain after theft
If you steal a quest item, for example the Ahdarji's
Heirloom (a ring of a countess), and get caught, you will lose
all the stolen items except for item that is the whole because
quest items cannot be taken out of your inventory except to further
the quest.
Immortal bodyguard
- First go to the Mages Guild and get the quest where you have to save a mage by the name of Erthor. Go to the cave where he is located. Fight your way through the zombies until you reach Erthor. Talk to him and tell him that you saved him. He will thank you and will let you have anything of his. First, tell him to follow you. Then, go to the back to the little cave where you found him. You will find a treasure chest with some gold inside. Take it while he is watching you. He will say that you have violated the Mages code. Go back to where you got the mission from and talk to the Mage that told you to do this. She will say that you must go to the Arcane University. That means you cannot complete the quest. Erthor is with you until you make amends and complete the quest. Do not do the Mages Guild quest, and you will have an immortal bodyguard. When he dies it will only say that he is unconscious. He will return to life in a short amount of time. This is useful when closing Oblivion Gates. Note: When you do this and do not make amends, you cannot finish the Mages Guild quest.
- If you have the Nights Of The Nine expansion from Xbox Live, and play it through to the end. You will be in front of the Nine monastery, where you will see a man begin talking. Go up to the people who are watching him speak. One of them with ask if he can follow you. Say "Yes" before the man stops talking. He will begin to follow you. After the man stops talking, this person will continue to follow you. You cannot tell him to leave you alone, but he cannot die and will keep reviving from being unconscious. You now have an immortal companion.
Make guards fight each other
You need a high Personality to do this trick. First, attack a guard and make sure about five are following you. Block and yield at the first guard that attacks you. He will accept your surrender, but one or two of the other guards will hit the guard that you yielded to, and eventually one guard after the other should start fighting. If you do it in the Cloud Ruler Temple
Main Hall, Jauffre, Martin and Baurus should start fighting. However, Jauffre may die and so will Baurus. Try doing this in a city.
Ghost guards
To do this, you need a spell to paralyze. Find a guard on a horse and paralyze the horse. If you paralyze the guard this glitch will not work. When the guard and horse are paralyzed, walk over to the guard and he will talk to you. Choose "Resist Arrest", and he will get up and his ghost will attack you, even though his body is still paralyzed. If you use a fire spell on his body that has a duration effect, you can see a fire trail leading to his ghost. If desired, you can attack the guard's body and the ghost will get hurt. The ghost guard can die.
Bald head
Go south of the waterfront on the green road. Near
Horn Cave should be Charcoal Cave. There is a water fall here.
Go directly under the waterfall and you should have a bald head.
You can also walk through the rock. This is temporary and will
wear off after getting out the water. Do not wear a helmet.
Perpetual motion paintbrush cup
Get in front of any paintbrush cup (done with paint
brushes inside). Punch the cup and most of the time it will rock
back and forth forever.
Leave level boundary
- Use the following trick to get outside the boundary in FrostFire Glade. When do the quest Tears of the Savior (finding Garridans Tears), go to where you must put the refined frost salts on the door (in the cave). Go through the door and go to your right. Go up the steep slope on the left side of the tree sitting in between two rocks. Keep tapping Y on the left side of the second rock (on the left side of the tree). Once you move a certain distance you will stop jumping. However if you quickly pull Away then Forward again (you may have to do this multiple times) you will eventually jump and do a little slide and go further up the slope, Do this multiple times while adjusting your character accordingly. You will eventually slide through a gap between the big rock and two little stones. You will then be outside the level. Be careful about dropping down the second level of the outside map, as you will not fall, but if you walk forward toi quickly it is a 90 degree downward angle. Try walking sideways slowly and you will eventually get down as if you are walking on a slant.
- Download the Frostcrag Spire level from Xbox Live. Do the quest to get it "finished". Go up to the level that is your room and the ingredients room. Move into the doorway facing the ingredients room. Save the game, then exit out to the Dashboard and delete the Frostcrag Spire from the hard drive. Do not worry, as you can download it again for free. Load your saved file and you should see a house. Look at it and rapidly tap Y. Eventually you will end up in the house. Move outside and you can find the Mace Of Doom in a tiny village. In a house in the village that you arrive in, you will find infinite Sigil Stones, but be careful; you get over encumbered quickly. You can run around this world but there are no inhabitants except for a "MixNmatch" zombie and a blade. From here you can fast travel to anywhere in Cyrodil.
Go through Arena wall
Join the Arena and sign up for a match. Kill your opponent
then go back to where you first came out (near the gate). Look
to the right to find a large door with a gate in front of it.
From the outside you cannot open this gate. Jump on the wall next
to until it says open gate. You should now be able to walk through
the giant door. Note: this may require a few attempts.
Mountain climbing with a horse
If you own a horse you can climb any mountain or slope
in the game. Ride up the desired slope at an angle. The game will
allow you to go up no matter how steep. Alternate riding left,
then right at an angle. You will get to the top eventually.
DoomedFaith
Fast Travel
If you have committed a crime or just need a quick
getaway from the guards after a murder or such, wait until they
attempt to attack you then yield to them. They will put away their
swords. Just before they speak to you, Fast Travel.
Monsterguns via
Floating man
Make sure you have a decent bow and arrows, or magic. The Glass bow and arrows should work. For magic, try an explosive
fire power. Travel to the Anvil Lighthouse. Go to the top where
the fire is located. Wait for a man called Ulfgar Fog-Eye to
appear. When he is up there, aim the bow at his head. If using
magic, aim at the ground. If you are lucky, he will fall down
the side of the lighthouse. However instead of waking up from
down below and climbing all the way back up, he will magically
float back up to the top of the lighthouse.
Endless Dreamworld
When doing the quest in Dreamworld for the Mage's Guild, go to the part where you have to fight two monsters. When the gate opens, turn right and go through the crack next to the tiny well in the ground. You should pass through it. You must jump up on top of the land outside of the arena so that you do not get stuck in the narrow ditch. This is a good tactic to use to defeat the two monsters. You can attack them through the wall, but they cannot attack you. If you wish to explore, you may also do that as well. Make your way down the mountain and notice that there will either be grass or a large body of water. Keep going, and you will probably fall off a large cliff. If you have enough health, you will not die and can continue to walk through what appears to be an empty oblivion. It never ends. You will soon just fall forever. If you get lost, which will happen if you decide to explore, load the autosave. The game autosaves when you step inside the "evil" arena. Note: The graphics change each time you do the glitch. For example, at first there may be a large body of water. When the glitch is repeated, it may change into a large grassy plain.
Imperial City: Jump on top of buildings
You must have your Acrobatics up to where you can roll around (Journeyman). Go to the Imperial City. Go to any of the gates leading to the Imperial Palace (for example, the Taloz Plaza, the Market District, etc.). Just before the gates, there is a gap in the stone along the sidewalk that leads down to some water. Jump up on the stone and roll across the gap, but do not turn around. Just pull back and back flip back over the gap. Keep rolling back and forth and eventually you will shoot up in the air as you roll forward. You can control yourself up on the roofs for the buildings. This may take some time, but it works best if when you roll forward you are moving toward the gate to the palace.
Flying horse
This trick works with almost any weapon (blunt and blade mainly), however bows do not seem to work. Park your horse in a corner (for example, a corner made by a fence and a tree). Set the difficulty to the maximum and attack. Your horse should eventually start to float or fly. Keep hitting to maintain its airtime. This works best with Shadowmere as he cannot.
Lost Shadowmere
There is a glitch with the Horse Armor downloadable content. If you obtained Shadowmere through the Dark Brotherhood quest line and equip the armor to Shadowmere, you will run the risk of losing the horse permanently.
