The fifth and final pattern can be purchased for 20 Star Coins

A star will be added next to your saved game file when one of the following tasks are completed. Completing more than one will display an additional star. The tasks are to defeat the final Boss, complete all world maps by finishing all levels and locating all secret exits, and spending all Star Coins.

like stairs. Set the turtle shell down on the stairs and let the
turtle inside come out. Then time it correctly and jump on his
head. Mario or Luigi will keep jumping on the turtle's head, and
will keep building up lives. Jump off when you feel that you have
enough lives.

once per match and it does not work on all levels.

on the clock are the same, fire works will go off corresponding
to the number. Each firework will get you 5,000 points. Go to
World 1-1 and wait until the timer hits -99, then hit the flag.

entire level, knocking over anything in your way. At the end when
Mario turns back to normal Mario, all the extra lives mushrooms
will fall from the sky to be collected. Repeat this process as
many times as desired.
In World 1-1, there is a super mushroom. There is an enemy there.
Take him out before hitting the box. Stay under the box until
the mushroom falls off. Follow it to the hole. Just as it is about
to fall, grab it. The mushroom will last until you get to the
finish line. Repeat this until you have 99 lives. You can repeat

nearby Goomba so there is nothing to distract you. Hit the mushroom
box and let it go. When it gets to the gap, grab it. As fast as
possible, run to the end of the level. When you get to the staircase,
run through it as big Mario (the flag also). You should have the
lives meter full, and you will get all the lives. Repeat this

Go to the last part of that world. If you reached the
flag, you went too far. Near the flag will be a pipe facing to
the west. Goombas walk out through it. Get a Koopa shell from
one of them and return to that pipe which is near the flag. Let
go of the Koopa shell and make sure you throw it eastward. The
Koopa shell will come back and forth. While it is doing that,
it will hit every Goomba that comes out that pipe, which will
add points to every hit. Do not touch the Koopa shell while it
is going back and forth. Just jump over it every time it gets
near you.
World 2-4: Easy lives
There is a Koopa Troopa coming down the stairs at the
end of the level. Stand on the block in front of the one the Troopa
is on and jump up so that you jump on him. Do not press any buttons
and let Mario continue to jump on him. After gaining the 1,000
points, you will start to get extra lives. Let it continue until
you get the maximum number of 99 lives.
and

Go through it and it will take you to a secret exit.

World 4-5: Easy lives

that requires Bob-ombs to get through. You can place a Bob-omb
on top of the second step then another in the exact middle of
the layer that is left to create a sort of "bowl", where
you can get the Koopa and bounce it an unlimited number of times
between the walls, killing all the Bob-ombs until the time runs
out. You can get 99 lives from this easily. Note: Sometimes you
will need to be normal Mario to fit through the gap to reach the
Koopa.
World 5-3: Fast completion

run. You should like turn into a shell and start rolling like
the Trapuna things when you jump on them. When you reach a bump

box and a ledge. Jump on the box then to the ledge. Jump out of
the ledge, making sure to stay against the wall and you will reach
a platform with a pipe leading to a red flagpole. You will unlock
a 1-Up mushroom house to the north of World 7-4, which never disappears.
You can continue to get 1-Ups until you reach your maximum of
99.
World 7-5: Easy lives
Go to World 7-5 (the Bullet Bill level). At nearly
at the end of the level, slightly before the Banzai Bill cannon,
you should see two rotating Bullet Bill cannons. There is a Star
Coin in the middle. Grab a Bomb-omb near there and drop it on
the blocks that are in the middle to blow them up. From there,
bounce on the Bullet Bills until you start getting 1-Ups.
World 8: Defeating Baby Bowser and Boswer
Before entering the castle, enter an orange mushroom
house and keep the Mega Mushroom you receive. Enter the castle
and do not use the mushroom until the boss Battle. As soon as
you can move again, tap the mushroom and grab it. As Giant Mario,
simply run into Baby and King Bowser and both will be defeated.
You can get the satisfaction of revenge for all of the times in
the past that you ran into them and died.

Unlocking World 4 or 7 easier
At the Boss of the World 2 or 5 final castle, have a normal sized (red mushroom) Mario or Luigi, as well as a blue mushroom. Hit either of the Bosses twice, then change to the tiniest Mario or Luigi and Ground Pound the Boss. Note: Save the game before attempting this.
Avoiding Blockhopper
On levels such as World 2-5, if a "?" box
doesn't have a spinning "?", it is an enemy called a
Blockhopper.
Giant Luigi
Go to Toad Town dojo west and get a mushroom. Throw
it at Luigi and he will become very big. Also if use on yourself,
you will get bigger than Luigi and so on.
Alternate Whack-A-Mole sounds
When playing the Whack-A-Mole mini-game, poke Luigi instead of the Monty Moles. The sound effect he makes changes every ten times you hit him. If you manage to poke him thirty times, he will scream then repeat the pattern.
Dancing opponents
Pay close attention to the monsters in any level. Notice
that they will do some sort of dance or jump when the chorus in
the background music sings. This does not include flying enemies,
Bullet and Banzai Bills, and Bosses.
Super Mario Bros. reference
At the end of any level except Bosses, touch the
flag when the last two digits of the clock are the same. (for
example, 311, 222, 099, 111). When the flag is lowered, the old
chime (for clearing a level) from Super Mario Bros. will
play as you walk into the castle. Once inside, and the flag is
raised, fireworks will go off corresponding with the number repeated
on the clock. For example, if the time is 099, then nine explosions
will be set off. if it is 211, only one will go off. The time
will also set off other events, as stated in other cheats listed.

Glitches
World 1-1: Falling enemies and coins
Get the mega mushroom then do a butt slam on the ground.
Dead enemies and coins will fall from the sky.
World 3-A: Backwards slide
Go to the second "room". Go in the first
pipe. You must be either Mega or Mini Mario to get the coin. To
backwards slide, dash down one of the slopes. Turn back, still
holding Dash. It will appear as if you are turning, but
you will slide backwards. Make sure you hit the water before turning.
World 6: Empty Boss room
In the big castle, make sure you have a Mega Mushroom
in your touch circle. When you get to the Boss (the Monty Mole
in the tank), touch the Mega Mushroom. You will turn into Mega
Mario or Luigi. When the Monty Mole pops out of the tank, jump
on it. The tank will explode, but the key will not come out. Time
will stop and you cannot pause game play. You will just have an
empty Boss room. You must restart the game to exit.
Bowser's Castle
You must be quick (easier to do with a shell) for this
trick. Ignore Bowser Jr. and dash under Bowser's feet when he
does his little jumps. You will be at the skull switch and Bowser
and Bowser Jr. will be running for you. When you push the switch,
they both fall, but the ending is the same.
If you hit Bowser with a shell or fireball, he will be gone and
it will be just you and Bowser Jr.
