Recommended characters

Good characters to start with are:

Shade: Thief: Bounty Hunter: Rogue.

Minotaur: Barbarian: Gladiator: Fighter

Dwarf Priest: Traveler: Healer.

Elf: Wizard: Summoner: Mage.

Setting up guards

Create a guard position near your ToL and alter its Asset's Guard behavior to "Guard ToL". This will keep enemies from easily penetrating the center of your city. Send out guards to the rest of your territories to create a menacing problem for all your opponents. The more guards you have, the more an enemy is going to have to do to attack part of your territory.

City building

If there are no extenuating circumstances (political or attack), start by building a Bank and Bursar followed by ToL and Runemaster (with aggressiveness). You will usually want to use the Fury and Assassin trainers first because they enable more trademark skills.
