Cheat Codes
Level select
Select "Sonic & Knuckles", choose any character, and play Zone 1, Act 1 (Angel Island). Jump and hang on a swinging vine. Then, press [Left] [Left] [Left] [Right] [Right] [Right] [Up] [Up] [Up]. A sound will confirm correct code entry. Press [Alt] + R to restart the game. Press [Down] [Down] and select the sound test. You can now play any zone with any character. Note: 00 = Sonic and Tails, 01 = Sonic, 02 = Tails, and 03 = Knuckles. Tails and Knuckles may look strange if you select of one them to do Doomsday.
Select "Sonic 3 & Knuckles", choose any character, and play the first stage until you reach the first vine. Jump on the vine. When on the vine, press [Right] [Right] [Right] [Left] [Left] [Left] [Up] [Up] [Up]. A sound will confirm correct code entry. Press [Alt] + R to reset the game. Press [Down] [Down] at the title screen and select the sound test. Select a level and press [Enter] to start.
Sound test
Enable the "Level select" code. Restart the game using the option under the "File" menu. Press [Down] [Down] at the title screen.
Soundtrack
Enter the "/sonicss/sound" folder on the
CD-ROM. Enter the "sonic1", "sonic2", "s3_s&k",or
"soniccd" folder, then enter the "bgm" folder.
Click a song to hear it. The filenames are named after their sound
test numbers in the games.
Hyper Sonic
Enable the "Level select" code. Press [Ctrl]
+ R. At the menu, scroll up one to "Sound test",
enter it and select "Special Stage 2". It is fairly
easy. Complete it and you should be at Angel Island. Repeat this
seven or eight times as Sonic. The seventh Super Emerald (you
cannott see them) should say "Sonic got all the Super Emeralds".
Collect 50 rings and Spark Sonic. Press [Jump] two times
and you should become Hyper Sonic.

Press [F9] during game play.
Unlimited special stages
Play all zones and clear the game. Press [Alt]
+ R after doing the special stage at the beginning of Mushroom
Hill zone. Win all emeralds and get a lot of continues.
Quick start
Enable the "Sound test" code. When you restart
the game and enter the sound test menu, highlight the Special
Stage 2. You should end up in a Emerald Sphere Challenge with
slightly different music. Collect the blue spheres and you should
receive a golden Super Emerald that will start you off with two
Chaos Emeralds. If you get a Perfect, you should also start off
with 54,800 points. Note: This game cannot be saved.
Unlockables
Super Sonic, Hyper Tails, or Hyper Knuckles
Collect all seven chaos emeralds, then accumulate fifty rings or a single bonus. Then, quickly jump twice in succession.
To play as Hyper Knuckles, collect all seven chaos emeralds, then
accumulate fifty rings or more. Then, jump twice to become Hyper
Knuckles. In Sonic 3 And Knuckles, get all seven chaos
and super emeralds, then jump twice.
Bonus points
Try to finish at a time of 9:59. You will be rewarded
with 10,000 points.

Multi-player mode
Start a game with Sonic and Tails or continue one.
The controls for Tails are as follows:
- A: Jump
- X: Go backwards
- V: Go forward
- C: Crouch
Hints
Hidden area in Mushroom Hill Zone
Find the first pulley in the gray area of Mushroom
Hill. This is the pulley leads to the Act 2 Boss. Go up the pulley
on the left hand side. When you get to the top, Spindash into
the spring. You will be sent up through the ceiling into a secret
area with two shields. This can be done with any character. It
is important that you go up on the left hand side of the pulley.
Sonic vs. Knuckles Zone 3 Robotnik
With Hyper Sonic, go to the Smasher next to the two
Super Rings and Fire Barrier. Flash Jump on top of the Smasher,
then Flash Jump across to the other platform going to the right.
You will not be able to see him, but he is there. After a short
while you will drop down by "Bubbles" and a pair of
Power Sneakers. You are actually above from where Knuckles meets
Robotnik for the second time. Run through the Zone to finally
battle with Robotnik.
Knuckles vs. Sonic And Tails Zone 3 Robotnik
Make sure youhave over 300 rings. Get to the area where
Knuckles takes his own way. Defeat the Bubbles and Spiker next
to the spitting arrow head that Knuckles cannot reach. Break the
wall and head back for a spinning Top. Use the Top to break the
barrier, then stick on wall above the head. Slowly climb down
until you hit the ruby. Hit it three times. Fall down and continue
the Zone. Then, team up with Tails to defeat Robotnik.
Play as Knuckles in Death Egg Zone
Enable the "Sound test" code in Sonic
3 And Knuckles. Go into sound test, then go into Death Egg
Zone. Note: You cannot defeat the middle boss in Death Egg Zone
with Knuckles because he cannot jump high enough to reach him.
Knuckles in Sonic And Tails 3
At the "Choose A Game" menu, click "Sonic
And Tails 3" and enable the level selection code. Go to the
bonus stage, then press [Up] [Enter] [Down] [Alt]
+ R. To play any Zone as Knuckles, go to Marble Garden
Zone Act 2. Near the place where Knuckles cannot reach the arrow
shooter, you can now climb up it. You can continue the level from
there and Tails will be carrying Knuckles.
Locations of special stages
In Angel Island, the first special stage ring is directly
below you when you arrive at the swinging vines. Go down where
there is a monkey and press Down while hitting the spring.
You will ram into a wall and there is a ring. The next is after
the machine appears and blows up the island. Go straight and fall
down the gap in the road. Jump on it to break it. Spin dash through
the wall on your left and jump on the spring. The ring is hidden
underground. The last is found when you fight the robot. Spin
dash down the tube and you will usually break through a wall and
end up in a chamber with a ring. Finally, go to a dip in the ground
where there is water. Spin dash up it and go to your right. The
last ring is located there.
Free bubble
After you defeat the first Boss in Angel Island, (get
a fire shield and hit him under or jump on him once while on top
of him) do not hit the sign up to get a 100 points. You will usually
get a bubble and can now go underwater.
Easy lives
In Zone 6, Act 1, go to the first Flybot Alarm and
perform a Spin Dash, favoring the right half of the alarm, and
hold it. If lined up correctly, the Flybots will keep appearing.
Eventually you will start get 10,000 points for each Flybot. Keep
doing this until you get 99 lives. Note: Depending on how many
lives you need to get to 99, you may surpass the time limit.
Go to Launch Base: Act 1 in Sonic The Hedgehog 3. Go to
the red sirens that make the birds attack. Stand in the middle
of them and use your Spin Dash. Do not release [Down] or
the birds will damage you. Each bird that attacks will die and
your score will begin to add up. Keep holding [Down] and
for every 50,000 points you will get an extra life.
Easy rings
Select Sonic And Knuckles Collection at the game selection
screen and choose to play as Tails alone. Enable the "Level
select" code and choose Flying Battery: Zone 1. Go through
the level until you reach the part where the missiles shoot out
of the ground. At the beginning of that part, fly up to as high
as you can go, then turn right. You will see a large number of
rings. You also may be able to use Knuckles by climbing to the
top and gliding through them. Note: For an added effect, use an
electric shield from a bonus level when doing this..
Super Sonic rings
Once you maintain Super Sonic, it will say clear at
the end. Go to a huge ring and it will automatically give you
50 rings. Now just jump twice and you can go very fast and jump
very high.
No ending
Enable the "Level select" code on Zone 1,
then Zone 7. Play as Knuckles on any level. Press [Alt]
+ R. Select the Doomsday Zone, Act 2. The name will appear
as Death Egg Zone. Defeat the Doomsday Robot, and the game will
return to the main screen, with no ending.
Sonic's big afro
When the sign falls from the sky, get into position
to where Sonic is right in front of it. It will appear as if Sonic
has grown a huge amount of hair when the rest of his body is not
in proportion. You can also just wait until after the scores add
up and take a screen shot once you have more time to position
it.
Knuckles' big afro
You can use the sign to make Knuckles appear to have
grown a lot of hair. It is done the same way as Sonic's afro trick,
except that he faces the opposite direction and stands slightly
more to the right.
Hyper Knuckles
If you get Hyper Knuckles, you will lose rings at a
rate of one ring per second -- try to go fast.

Control Tails
Note: This trick only works with Sonic The Hedgehog
3 or Sonic The Hedgehog 3 And Knuckles when playing
as Sonic and Tails. In any Zone (or Act), use the following to
control Tails.
- Jump: Press A.
- Move left: Press X.
- Crouch: Press C.
- Move right: Press V.
Tails carries you
Note: This trick only works with Sonic The Hedgehog 3 or Sonic The Hedgehog 3 And Knuckles when playing as Sonic and Tails. In any Zone (or Act), press [Esc] and they will both jump. Immediately press [Esc] again and Tails will fly. If you are in front of Tails the entire time, when you come down Sonic should grab his hands. To continue going up, keep jumping. However, Tails will get tired soon.
Defeating Doomsday Robot part 1
When the Doomsday Robot appears for the first time, he will try to squash you with his fingers. Charge your Spin Dash attack and hold. If he tries to smash you, he will get hurt instead. Keep doing this until all of his fingers are gone.
Glitches
Hydrocity
Collect all Chaos emeralds and then enable the "Level select" code. Go to Hydrocity 2 and get more than 50 rings. Once you fight Robotnik, crouch down (Super Sonic will look like
a hurdler) and you will ride up to Eggman. You have to do this quickly because touching Eggman will hurt him. Then hold Spin Dash until he is defeated. You will fall back down and will still be spin dashing. This is the type of spin dash in Sonic CD, where you roll up into a ball and not a thin oval.
Shortcut to Boss
Enable the "Level select" code in Angel Island
Zone, then do it again in Mushroom Zone. This must be done in
both Zones so that Knuckles can be used. Go to Sonic's Sky Sanctuary
1 with Knuckles and destroy the first Boss. Go to the platform
where you face the second Boss, but do not let the screen lower.
After the walkway collapses, glide over to the right wall. If
you are using a Super Knuckles, transform first (jump twice),
then climb all the way down until there is about one Knuckles-width
remaining. If you go down too far, you will fall. Glide across
and you should reach the final Boss platform. Climb up and you
will face him. If not, when you walk over by the green tower,
knuckles goes behind it.
Strange graphics
Select Knuckles and go to Angel Island. Enable the
"Level select" code. Select the Mushroom Hill Zone and
repeat the "Level select" code there. Go to Doomsday
Act 1 and use Hyper Knuckles. Knuckles will appear glitched. To
see two Knuckles, go to Sky Sanctuary Act 1.
