Unlockables

Completion bonuses

Successfully complete the game as Spider-Man to unlock Symbiote Spider-Man's story mode and Arena mode.

Successfully complete the game to unlock the Arena mode option in the Extras menu.

Collect all 50 Black Spider Tokens to get the black Spider-Man suit to wear whenever desired for as long as you want.

Play as the New Goblin (Collector's Edition)

Defeat the New Goblin in his first battle to unlock him as a playable character.

Hints

Defeating King-Pin

As Black suit Spider-Man, use your slow motion to dodge the King-Pin's attacks. Build up your "Rage Mode". Once in "Rage Mode" you can attack as normal.

When facing Kingpin, tap X to jump up in the air. Do not hold X or you will jump too high. While in the air, keep tapping Triangle. It will take awhile to build up rage. Once rage is built up, quickly tap R1 to go into Rage mode in the air. While in Rage mode and in the air keep tapping Triangle to hit Kingpin. If you stay away from the walls by using the Left Analog-stick to move Spider-man, Kingpin will never hit you.

Defeating the New Goblin

Go up to Harry and punch him ten or more times, then swing away. Do this repeatedly. If done correctly, you will defeat him.

Defeating Venom

To defeat Venom in the grand finale mission, hold L1 and run and hit the boxes which drive him crazy. By holding L1 while doing this, you will have more time to run while your opponent is in slow motion.

Easy kills

When an enemy is running away from you, press Circle. You will stun their eye and make it easier to kill them.

To easily defeat enemies jump then keep tapping both Attack buttons.

Jump in the air and press Circle to do an air-web grapple move. Once in the air-web grapple move, attack once, web-air grapple, and repeat. You can keep web-air grappling forever and quickly defeat any group of low level enemies.

Rival gang reward

Choose any of the gang patrol missions (Apocalypse, Dragon Tails, H-Bombers, Waste Tribe) and defeat all of their marked territories that match their logos to earn 3 experience points.

City shortcut

There is a way to cut the distance you have to travel. Get to the Daily Bugle. Get in between two smoke towers. You can use your Spider-Sense to find it. Look in the direction you want to go, then press Square and tap Left Analog-stick Down..

Token collection

While swinging through the city you might hear a chime. This indicates that you are close to a token.

Meteorite collection

As Black costume Spider-Man, you can find the meteorite fragments (small rock-like objects surrounded by a purple/pink glow) by listening for a pulsating sound. The louder it gets, the closer you are.

Web swinging upgrades

You can earn upgrades for this ability by using it a lot.

Easy health

When you find a ambulance, it should be on top of the truck. Otherwise, try to complete one of the story mode missions.

Back to morning

When it is dark, do the City Alert one time.

Random gang

When you go to a crime area controlled by the police, you will be assigned a task involving a random gang. On completion of the tasks the effectiveness of the police will be increased (as seen by the rings around the police symbol on the map). The more rings you have, the harder it is for gangs to take control of police-controlled areas and the more likely it is for the police to take over gang controlled areas.

Getting angry

To get angry without having do fight enemies, simply tap R1 repeatedly. Spider-Man will make a shaking hand motion and will scream. The longer you tap R1, the more rage you will build up.

Glitches

Play as pedestrian Peter Parker

When there is a mission available for the Daily Bugle, go to it. Go inside the building and talk to Robbie. When he assigns you a project, leave the building and go back in. You will notice the nav point is now showing up from inside the building. Wait up to seven minutes inside the building. You will get a mission failed (you wasted to much time, Eddie has taken your job). You have two options, "Retry" or "Do something else". Select "Do something else" and you should then appear on top of the Daily Bugle as Peter Parker. Walk over to the race on top of the building but do not start it. When you get the "Press X to start mission" message you will now have the ability to use X, which is punch. Walk over to the edge of the building and hold Forward and do uppercuts until Peter falls off the building. You are now Peter Parker in the city. All you can do is run around and punch or web. To exit this mode, die. When you respawn on top of the building go in the Daily Bugle and come back out. Note: This was only tested as Dark Spider-Man but should work for both forms.

Missing people

There are times when people may appear as exclamation points and they cannot get hurt.

Mismatched voices

Some civilians are gender/race confused. They will talk to you with voices that will not match their appearance.
