Power-up weapons:

Each better level of weapon will extract more gold upon each hit. Make sure that you have enough money remaining to complete the next level before buying an upgrade. Every time you upgrade, the King will ask for slightly less in taxes for the next few levels.

Temporary upgrades

Use temporary upgrades such as Strength Tonic and Lucky Amulet carefully. In later levels upgraded weapons with those temporary upgrades will allow you to bring in lamounts of taxes.

The King's demands

The King is money greedy. He watches your performance on each level and bumps up his expectation for the next level depending on how much you scored on the previous level.
