Cheat Codes
Cheat mode
The following codes are entered during game play in single player mode. They have no effect in multi-player or online modes. To disable a code, repeat it. Codes will not be disabled until you do re enter them. Therefore, you do not need to re enter them when in story mode.
Killer weapons
Press X(2), Up(2), L + R during game play.
Invincibility
Press Right, Left, Down, Up, L + R during game play.
Infinite weapons
Press Triangle(2), Down(2), L + R during game play.
Mega guns
Press X, Triangle, X, Triangle, L + R during game play.
Health for weapons
Press Triangle, X, Square, Circle, L + R during game play.
and
Temporary shield
Press Right(2), Down(2) during game play. If done correctly, your car will glow green for a few seconds.
Temporary invisibility
Press Left(2), Down(2). Note: This uses up about one quarter of your energy.
Spawn a mine
Press Right, Left, Down, Up during game play. If done correctly, a blinking red mine will appear underneath your car.
Spawn a freeze missile
Press Right, Left, Up, Down during game play to create a freeze missile. When this touches an enemy, it will freeze them for a few seconds.
Unlocked primed
Press Up, X, Up, X, L + R during game play. A message will confirm correct code entry. Note: Do this in story mode after using up all weapons.
Freeze attack
Press Up, Down, Up during game play. This attack will freeze your closest opponent.
Rear attack
Press Left, Right, Down + Fire during game play. You will fire the selected weapon backwards.
Flak attack
Press Up, Down, Left, Right during game play. Incoming missiles will be intercepted and destroyed. It also knocks back nearby enemies.
Napalm attack
Press Right, Left, Up(2) during game play. A napalm projectile will be added to all weapons fired, but has no effect during special attacks.

Successfully complete the Russia mini-game in story mode.
Play as Cousin Eddy and ATV

Successfully complete the Monaco mini-game in story mode.
Play as Dark Tooth

Play as Tower Tooth
Successfully complete the game in story mode with any
five characters. Note: Tower Tooth can only be played in the Rome
Deathmatch level.

The Tower Tooth Challenge level will now be unlocked in challenge

Hints
Defeating Cousin Eddy
Start a story mode with Dark Tooth. Once you are on Cousin Eddy, it is easier than your first fight with him. Taking out the ATVs is no problem. Just shoot your regular gun the entire time. Do not worry about missing, because the shots lock on. When you are actually fighting Cousin Eddy, do not worry about taking the time to hit all the hillbillies. Instead, use Dark Tooth's special. It will grab Cousin Eddy and take one or two hillbillies out. Repeat this until you have killed all of his hillbillies. You will then see Eddy's health bar. From here, use your special (if you still it), and it will send Eddy flying. Then, shoot your regular gun. It will take out half of his health. Repeat this until he is blown to pieces. However, if you did not have a special after killing his hillbillies, take him down to half of his health bar with missiles, napalm, ricochet, etc. By the time half of his bar is gone, you should have a special. Use it to defeat him.
Use the following trick to defeat Cousin Eddy even if you are
not Dark Tooth. When you must start hitting the top enemy to finish
him off, just freeze him by pressing Up, Down, Up.
Then, use Napalm weapon to hit the top enemy.
Defeating Tower Tooth
During the last level against Tower Tooth, all that
you have to do to defeat him is drive around and pick up power
missiles until you cannot hold any more. Then, drive up one of
the stair ramps that takes you to the raised platform around the
buildings. Park your car facing the ledge. When Tower Tooth arrives,
he will sit directly in front of the ledge and attack you. Face
directly at him and keep shooting him with power missiles repeatedly.
When your health gets low, set down a remote bomb. Detonate it
before Tower Tooth has a chance to get away but not so soon that
you are also next to it. Drive around until you have full health
again. The white "+" on your mini map represents a
full health pickup. Gather more power missiles if needed and repeat
the process as many times as desired. If you are away from Tower
Tooth too long he will regain health.
Killing the band
Lay a bomb next to the band performing in the Big Blue
Stadium. Drive a short distance away and detonate it. Doing this
will blow up the band and kill their music. There will be no music
for about a minute until another banjo track eventually starts
to play over the P.A. system.
During story mode, go up to the stage where the band is performing
in the Big Blue Stadium and blow them up. The napalm besides them
works perfectly. The moment they are killed, the song will stop
playing and will be replaced with a different, lyric-less song.
Easy kills
Place a remote bomb on any teleporter. When an enemy
teleports, the bomb will explode, dealing at least 20 points of
damage.
Charging weapons
Whenever a gray meter appears at the bottom of your
screen, it indicates that you can charge up the weapon you have
selected in your arsenal. Hold L to charge for as long
as desired, and release it to unleash the weapon. However when
the bar fills completely red, you must release L or the
weapon will backfire and not go anywhere. For example, Axel's
EMP special move will have an increasingly larger blast radius
the longer you hold L, but will be useless if you over-charge.
Note: The gray meter will only appear after you've received the
sixth "Special Weapons" upgrade by defeating enemies.
Double freeze
Be careful not to use the freeze attack on someone
who is already frozen. If you do, your freeze bomb will bounce
off the enemy and come back directly to you, freezing yourself
on impact.
Get thawed out quicker
If you get hit by a freeze shot, tap Square(2)
to use boost. This will make you unfrozen much faster.
To thaw out quickly, rapidly tap any button. You will sometimes
thaw out in under two seconds.
War Of The Monsters referencE
There are posters from War of The Monsters that can
be found, because both games have the same publisher, Incognito.
The posters include Day of Colossus, Creeping Chaos and Battle
of The Titans.
See what player wishes for
As you may know, whoever wins gets one free wish. When
you successfully complete Story mode you will see what your character
wished for, and how they used it.
Wishes
The wishes that the default characters make for their
final movie is as follows:
- Cousin Eddy: A new RV.
- Grasshopper: For the car accident that she and her mother were in to never happen.
- Marcus Kane: To wake up from the whole dream that is Twisted Metal (also in Twisted Metal 2).
- Mortimer Scharf: To fall back asleep.
- Mr. Grimm: To be human again.
- Needles Kane (Sweet Tooth): To become Calypso.
- Outlaw: For his partner to shut up.
- Spectre: To have money.
- Thumper: To have her car more pimp.
- Twister: To have her sister back (from Twisted Metal 2).
- Warthog: To have a gun to kill all the drug lords.
The following is what happens to the default characters' wishes.

- ATV: Wishes to be the most desired man in the world by all women. Every woman on Earth comes at him and smothers him.
- Axel: Tries to wish for world peace, but is cut off by the man who created his prosthetic arms and legs and ends up wishing for pizza.
- Cousin Eddy: Calypso makes him a perfect RV.
- Dark Tooth: Needles Kane tells Marcus Kane that they are the same person. Both then take hold of Tower Tooth.
- Hammerhead: Wishes for a one on one hunt with Calypso. Catfish shoots at who he thinks to be Calypso (turns out to be a decoy) and Calypso snipes Catfish, then hangs his head as a trophy.
- Marcus Kane: He wakes up in his bed, out of Twisted Metal. The explanation is that Twisted Metal is a dream. 27 people got in a car crash and they were bound together in a coma and all were in the hospital. None woke up unless they wished to wake up. Marcus always said that it was all fake, and when he wished to wake up in Twisted Metal 2 (or Black), the nurses in the hospital freaked and said "he woke up!".
- Mortimer Scharf: Calypso reads him a story about "a man named Mortimer Scharf", who won Twisted Metal, until Mortimer died again (asleep).
- Mr. Grimm: His wish was for someone else to be the grim reaper. He walks in front of the bus, then "Mr. Grimm" appears on the new grim reaper's list.
- Mr. Slam: Wants to build his unfinished tower and wishes to be reborn. Calypso grants his wish and turns him into a baby.
- Needles Kane (Sweet Tooth): Switches bodies with Calypso, then kills his old body.
- Outlaw: He and his partner are fighting and he slips out, "I wish you would just shut up". Calypso closes her mouth up.
- Spectre: Calypso grants his wish for money, but the money piles up and falls on him.
- Thumper: She drives down the street with her music blasting, and when she turns on the hydraulics, the world shakes and a skyscraper falls on her car.
- Twister: Her sister returns from hell still a skeleton and gives Twister a hug. She died in Twisted Metal 2; her wish was to be faster, and killed herself.
- Warthog: He kills all the drug lords, but the kids who worked for the drug lords like them, and pull out guns and kill Warthog.
- Grasshopper: She is shown on a swing with Calypso pushing her; Calypso is her father.
Glitches
More damage with Hammerhead
Use Hammerhead's special and hold Left to spin
around. Note: This only works about 20% of the time.
