Improving relations with other species

You cannot dock at Paranid or Split stations at the start of the game. However, you can dock at Pirate bases in their sectors. Keep on docking at those bases and they will eventually offer you a job. Complete that job to increase your rating with that species and you will be able to dock at their stations.
