Cheat mode:
Press [Ctrl] + [Shift] + C during
game play to display a prompt in the upper left corner of the
screen. Enter one of the following codes to activate the corresponding
cheat function. Note: Enter [Exclamation point] at the
prompt to repeat the last cheat entered. Enter a [Semi-colon]
between codes to enter multiple codes at the same time. Additionally,
most of the codes will only work with the unpatched version of
the game.

Hint: Full need bars:
Save the game, then enable the move_objects on
code and delete your Sim. All your needs will be restored to near
perfection.

Note: If your Sim recently gained a skill point, do not do the
above mentioned cheat. It will delete the skill points you just
gained, but there is a loophole. After you have gained the desired
amount of skill points, call a cab and go to Studio Town/Old Town/Downtown,
etc. After you return to your home, you can safely do the cheat
without losing any of your skill points.

When disposing a Sim to get a better mood, save the game first.
This prevents loss of new skill points, relationships, etc.

Hint: Gain famous friends:
When following the fame career path, talk about yourself
repeatedly. When you are at 100 in daily liking the person you
are trying to be friends with, say goodbye and wait until the
next day. Then call them up, and talk. Do not invite them over.
If you just talk to them for a bit (it does not matter if they
yell at you or engage in conversation), they should automatically
become your friend. You can then invite them over and engage in
normal conversations and do things together that you can do with
others, even though you are at a lower level than they are.

If you have The Sims Makin' Magic and Superstar,
you can easily get more famous friends by talking to them then
casting either the Smiley Face spell or any other one that improves
friendships. You will get fined, but it is usually around 20 Simoleons
only if the magic person catches you. Make sure that you have
enough Mechanical and Logical points so that the spell does not
backfire.

This trick requires the The Sims Makin' Magic. Obtain the
following ingredients: Honey, Toad Sweat, Garlic. Add the ingredients
in the Spellmaker. Charge your wand and you will have the Smiley
Face spell. Then, go outside and get the paper (not the newspaper).
Select "Find An Agent". Certain stages of your fame
career will require a number of famous friends for you to move
on to the next stage. Go to Studio Town and meet some new friends.
Most of them will be kind of famous. Next, go home and invite
them over. Once they are over at your house, cast the Smiley Face
spell and your Famous Friend meter will go up.

Hint: Easy star power levels:
Do not use modeling, recording or anything that requires
choices unless you know the correct order. It takes longer, but
just recording jingles and performing is far safer if you do not
want to be demoted.

Hint: Free food:
Whether you are in Studio Town or on Vacation, get
to a buffet table. When someone else gets food from a buffet table,
wait until they sit down then start talking to them. They will
get up and leave the food on the table. Then, click on the plate
and select "Eat". You have just saved 25 Simoleans.

Hint: Easy money:
If you leave food out and do not have a maid, you may
see cockroaches wandering around your floor. Enable the move_objects
on code and click on the roaches. Sometimes, the message "Sell
SRR Virtual Reality Set for
" with a price of 100 to
1000 Simoleans will appear.
Hint: Quick money:
Enable cheat mode and enter the rosebud code.
Display the cheat prompt again and type !;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!;!:!;!
(up to sixty total commands may be entered).
Enable cheat mode and enter rosebud;: as a code. Then hold
[Enter] so that "No such cheat" begins to flash.
Keep the key held to gain up to 99 million simolians. Note you
can replace : with any invalid character in the cheat.

Hint: Exceed family member limit:
Use the following trick to add other members to your
family, after you already have eight members. Enable the move_objects
on code. If you have a family that consists of eight members
and you want to add another, delete six of your family members.
Those members are not gone forever. If you want another kid, keep
the parents active and try to get a baby. If you want another
pet, keep one adult active and buy a pet. You will not be able
to control what this new member does.

Hint: Get family friends with star power:
Start with a normal job for two people in different
houses. Get them both all the skill points you can then get them
to be very good friends with each other. Get them into the Fame
career track. They will keep going up the ladder and will only
need each other's Star power for the first few levels. For example,
if both have 2.5, then both need 2.5 to advance. They are friends
though, and both have 2.5 Star friend power.

Hint: Removing obsessed fans from your
lot:
Hire a Butler to come around to your Sim's home, then
ask him to dismiss visitors.

Hint: Remove censor:
Have your Sim take a shower, wait a few seconds, then
quickly enable the move_objects on code. Go to the housing
tool. Get the hand tool and move the shower somewhere else. You
will see your Sim naked. Move your Sim somewhere else then click
on something else to make them invisible.

First, drop the walls, then look through the Skydiving Chamber
while a Sim is getting into the tub. They will appear naked.

Hint: Second story:
Instead of placing a number of pillars to make a second
story, just build a normal first floor with nothing in it, then
build a second floor and delete the walls on the first floor.

Hold [Ctrl] and click a Sim's face in live mode.

Hint: Controlling limit exceeding family
members:
To control an extra family member that exceeds the
limit, press [Space] to switch characters. Keep pressing
it until no family member in the list is selected. You cannot
see their face, but can now control their actions.

Click on the baby and select "Feed", "Feed",
"Play", "Play", "Sing", "Sing".
Note: It always has to end with "Sing".

When your baby cries click it select "Feed", "Play",
"Sing", "Play". If you have The Sims Makin'
Magic, you can buy the Skeleton Maid, then go to "Miscellaneous",
then buy the gray coffin that stands up (named "Bag O Bones"
Skeleton Closet). Keep the coffin close to the baby. When the
baby cries just knock on the coffin.

Glitch: Swim in air:
Buy the Aquatic Play-House and have a Sim get in it.
Enable the move_objects on code and move the item. Your
Sim will be swimming in scuba gear in the air.

Glitch: Swim in a puddle:
If you have a puddle on your lot, make one of your
Sims start swimming in the swimming pool. Then, enable the move_objects
on code. Pick up your Sim and put them in the puddle. It will
appear as if your Sim is swimming in a puddle.

Glitch: Stool labeled as Doll House:
Have a child in your family. Get them to use the sink
and they will get on top of a stool. Pause game play and enable
the move_objects on code. Pick up the stool, and it will
read "Doll House".

Glitch: Basketball hoop indoors-:
Make the room that you want to put the basketball hoop
in, but leave one small corner of the walls unattached. The game
will still think the room is outdoors, as you have not completely
surrounded the land with walls. Place the hoop where you want
it to be in the room, then finish the wall. Put the door in and
you now have an indoor basketball court. Add hardwood flooring
and play ball.
