Hints
Secret doors
Some secret doors a left and a right vertical beam
embedded in them. Others may be faint outlines
on a wall.
Food
Eat rations whenever they are found, rather than storing it
in the inventory. Each level contains a feast that appears as
a group of mushrooms and a waterskin that will restore the food
level and hit points to full. The feast also has the same effect
Cure Poison spell. This should be used immediately before exiting
the level. Your character will not automatically use the feast.
Resting
After a level is cleared, go to a rest area and restore spells
and hit points. This should be done before starting the next level,
where new rest areas need to be found before they can be used.
Items
The Scroll Of Hurling is a cursed item that will significantly
reduce your character's food.
Solution
Level 1
Opponents: Goblins, Ice Trolls, Mudmen
This level is divided into three sections that are reached via
teleporters that appear as flashing square areas. Move forward
from the starting chamber. Take the items in the adjacent chamber,
which is the rest area for this section. Move forward to enter
the main area of this section, which has a circular shape. The
corridor that circles this section is covered in ice. Hold B
and use the D-pad (3DO version) to move in short, slow steps.
Press the D-pad (3DO version) in the opposite direction of movement
to keep from sliding into the water, which will cause damage.
Walk up the ramps that are on either side of the path that leads
to the rest area to collect magic items. Walk around the corridor
and defeat all monsters encountered. Jump to reach items on platforms
that are separated by water from the corridor. One item on a platform
is a Protection From Cold scroll. A hidden teleporter on this
platform will send your character back to the rest area. After
all items are collected, follow the icy corridor until it rises
to an elevated area with a normal floor. Use the feast that is
located on the elevated area. Cast the Protection From Cold spell
from the scroll and walk across the water to reach the teleporter,
which is near the feast. Your character will be teleported to
the second section of this level.
Your character will appear in a chamber with a narrow circular
ledge. This is the rest area for this section, and cannot be reached
again after this point. Jump down the hole in the center of the
chamber to reach the main area of this section. Find the wall
on the outer edge that contains a round doorway. There is a passageway
to the left of the doorway. Go down the passageway and take the
Boots Of Ice Walking. Wear the boots to protect your character
from the water. To get some magic items, walk up the ramp that
circles around the large block towards the center of this section,
and jump from square to square to get to the other side. Return
to the round doorway and enter. It leads to a chamber that contains
a teleporter and a pit in the floor. Use either the teleporter
or the pit to reach the third section of this level.
Your character will appear in a chamber containing the rest area
if the teleporter was used in the previous section. This is another
circular section. At the center of this circle are two connected
rooms with a feast. Collect all items from the rooms in this level.
The path to exit for this level is directly across the level from
the rest area and is reached by a stair-stepped (as opposed to
smooth) ramp. The ramp leads to a chamber containing two ramps
arranged in an inverted "V" that lead upward. Walk up
either ramp to reach a chamber with two more ramps, arranged in
a "V" that lead downward. The ramp to the right leads
to a teleporter that will transport your character to the ledge
above the starting point of the level where more items are stored.
Note that your character must wall through the entire level again
to reach this point again if this teleporter is used. The left
ramp leads to teleporter that completes this level.
Level 2
Opponents: Ankhegs, Ice Mephits, Goblins
This level is divided into five sections. Your character starts
in a rest area in the first section. Continue forward and take
the branch to the right when the corridor splits. Enter the first
door to the right and enter the blue temple chamber. A voice will
ask your character to retrieve an ancient artifact and return
it to this location. Return to the corridor and explore the rooms
on each side, but do not cross the rooms that have exits leading
the opposite side. To get the artifact, return to the rest area.
Turn around and follow the left branch of the main corridor. The
first door to the left leads to a teleporter to the second section
of this level. Explore the rooms on this side of the first section
before using the teleporter.
Your character will appear in the second section of this level
in a large room with elevated passageways above. Explore the lower
area and collect all items and kill all monsters. Leave the lower
area by climbing the ramp on the outer wall. Follow the ramp to
a four-way intersection of ledges. Turn left down the first ledge,
then immediately turn right to reach a rest area. Leave the rock
that is in the passageway next to the rest area. This rest area
has two entrances and contains a column that moves up and down.
By standing on the column, your character can reach a passageway
to a teleporter. The passageway leads to two different teleporters
depending on which entrance is used to enter the rest area. Always
use the entrance to the rest area that is next to the rock in
the passageway. Move backwards out of the rest area and watch
for a column to move. Once this column has lowered completely,
quickly run to the top of it. The column will raise your character
to the top of a new area. Get off the column before the it drops
down, and follow the passage until your character falls into a
pit. Enter the teleporter at the bottom of the pit. If the other
entrance was used to enter the rest area, your character will
be teleported to the beginning of the level.
Your character will appear in the third section of this level
on an elevated ledge occupied by a with a goblin. Quickly kill
the goblin. If your character falls off any of the ledges in this
section, walk out the doors and return to the rest area with the
rising column. Remember to enter the rest area using the entrance
that is next to the rock in the passageway. Carefully jump across
each ledge to reach the opposite side. Once across the room, jump
into the teleporter.
Your character will appear in the fourth section in another room
with ledges. Turn right and look at the black grid on the floor
bordering the column near the wall. Walk onto the grid to lower
the column. Get on top of the column and ride it to the top. Carefully
jump across the platforms until the teleporter on the far wall
is reached. If your character falls off the ledges, walk back
to the black grid to raise the column again. Jump into the teleporter
at the far end of the room.
Your character will appear in the fifth section of this level
facing a feast. Use the feast and pick up all the items in this
area. Use any Orbs Of Seeing in the inventory to avoid the Ankhegs.
Enter the temple area. Pick up the Ancestral Artifact and the
other items found here. Exit the temple room and find the teleporter
that is located in one of the corners in the outer hallway. Enter
the teleporter to return to the beginning of the level. Return
to the room with the blue temple chamber complete this level.
Level 3
Opponents: Myconids, Mist Mephits, Skeletons
This level begins in a room with four doors that lead to four
sections. All four doors are locked and are opened with dwarven
keys that must be found. Pick up the key in the room with four
doors and opening that is directly in front of it. Kill the skeletons
in the next room, and enter the door to the passageways. Note
the cracks on the floor on the passage that forks to the right.
Jump over this section to avoid falling through the floor into
a lava pit. Go to the end of the passageway and leap across the
lava and take the Boots Of Lava Walking. By wearing these boots,
your character will not take damage from the lava pits. Return
down the passage, and jump over the pit in the floor. (If your
character falls, walk through the lava pits and use the teleporters
to return to the room with the four doors.) Follow the right fork
of the passage until it ends. A Mist Mephit will appear when your
character tries to take the dwarven key. After the key is taken,
return to the room with the four doors.
Open the door that is behind the dart to enter the second section.
Follow the passage as it forks to the left and jump across the
pit to get an item. (If your character falls, use the teleporter
to return to the room with the four doors.) Return down the passage
and follow the opposite fork. The passage ends in a room with
a dwarven key. Note the cracks in the floor of this room. Jump
over the cracks to avoid falling into the lava pits. (If your
character falls, use the teleporter to return to the room with
the four doors.) Return to the room with the four doors.
Open the door that is behind the rations to enter the third section.
Kill the Myconids in this room and use the feast if needed. Enter
the doors to the left of the feast to enter one of two large rooms
that are connected by two archways. Kill the monsters in this
area. Note that secret doors will open, releasing Myconids when
your character steps near the archways. The secret doors have
a faint arch-shaped outline. Enter either door and explore the
passageways to find a rest area and other items. Note that the
skeletons in the burial chambers may re-animate and attack your
character. Do not use the teleporters that are near the rest area.
They will transport your character to the lower fire pits. With
the entrance to this section to your back, follow the passageway
to the right until it ends. Jump across the platforms to reach
the far side of the room. When your character jumps on the far
platform, it will rise allowing you to walk down another passageway.
Jump to the passageway before the platform descends. This passageway
ends at another set of platforms that must be jumped over. Leap
across the far platform to enter a long section of floor surrounded
by lava. Run to the far end and avoid the fire balls. Take the
Ancestral Artifact and use the feast to heal your character. Jump
into the pit and walk off the platform when it reaches the bottom
to avoid being sent back to the top. Walk through the lava pits
and use the teleporter to return to the room with the four doors.
Open the door that is behind the rock to enter the fourth section.
Kill the Myconids in this room and take the Orb Of Firestrikes.
Enter either set of doors in to enter one of two large rooms that
are connected by two archways. Kill the monsters in this area.
Note that secret doors will open, releasing Myconids when your
character steps near the archways. The secret doors have a faint
arch-shaped outline. With the entrance to this section to your
back, enter the large room with the archways that is on the right.
Enter the door on the right side far wall. You will enter a passageway
filled with tombs. A rest area can be found by following the passage
to the right and going through the door found just before where
the passage ends at a fire pit. Explore the passage and the rooms
that it leads to find a dwarven key and additional items. Note
that the passage also connects to the other large room with the
archways and hidden Myconids. Follow the passage to the end to
the opposite of the rest area. Open the door at the end of the
passage. This door can be reached in a more direct route from
the room that held the Orb Of Firestrikes by opening the door
to the left of the Orb, and then entering the door to the left
on the far wall of the next room, then following the passage to
the left. Jump across the platforms to reach the far side of the
room. (If your character falls, enter the passageway to the large
lava pit and enter the passage to the right, follow it to the
small fire pit, enter the passageway on the far wall to reach
the lava pit with the teleporters. Follow the ledge to the left
and enter the teleporter on that side of the lava pit to return
to the room with the four doors.) When your character jumps on
the far platform, it will rise allowing you to walk down another
passageway. This passageway ends at another set of platforms that
must be jumped over. (If your character falls, enter the passageway
that is next to the rest area in this section.) Leap
across the far platform to enter a long section of floor surrounded
by lava. Run to the far end and avoid the fire balls. Use the
feast if necessary to heal your character. Jump into the pit and
walk off the platform when it reaches the bottom to avoid being
sent back to the top. Use the rest area here if necessary before
entering the blue temple chamber to complete the level.
Level 4
Opponents: Disirs, Skeletons, Fire Mephits
This level is composed of a large group of buildings that are
similar in appearance. Your character begins the level inside
on of the larger buildings. Exit the building and walk through
the alleys. Use rocks and non-essential items to mark intersections
and doors that already have been entered. Your character must
walk through an archway to reach a courtyard that contains two
fountains. The interior of the courtyard has two gazebos containing
magic items. Enter the courtyard and look out an archway. Note
the building that has a door that is directly lined up with the
archway. Enter the door and walk upstairs. Take the items and
dwarven key in the building. Another building near the courtyard
contains a rest area on the upper floor.
Your character must find a large building at the edge of the level.
Find the building that has a door between two fountains. Place
your character so that the doors and fountains are to the left
of your character. Walk forward and keep this wall to your left
at all times (turning as necessary) until you reach a door on
the left. Open the door with the dwarven key and enter. Climb
up the ramp and jump down the pit. This building contains ramps,
stairs and many hallways. Explore the building and find another
dwarven key at the top of a ramp. There are two doors in the building
that must be entered to complete the level. Climb upwards to find
the first door. It opens at roof level. Turn left and jump across
the roofs to reach the opposite side of the level. Take the Ancestral
Artifact and return to the interior of the building. Find and
open the second door with the dwarven key and use the teleporter
at the far end of the room. Walk and jump across the walkways
to reach the blue temple chamber to complete the level.
Level 5
Opponents: Glabrezu
The short level begins in a grand palace foyer. Follow the blue
carpet to the entrance door. Open the door and run down the long
steep ramp. Open the door at the bottom of the ramp and enter
the inner palace. There is a single Glabrezu in this location.
Avoid it by running to the left and enter the first alcove. Climb
up the stairs and use the feast. There is another feast in the
opposite alcove that should be used before completing the level.
Return to the center of the inner palace and enter each alcove
remaining alcove while avoiding the Glabrezu. Collect all items,
including the wands and orbs. Use the orbs and wands to kill the
Glabrezu. Once the Glabrezu is defeated, the palace floor will
drop. Enter the center of the palace. The center of the palace
contains two chambers that are separated by a large room. One
chamber contains a rest area and a teleporter. The teleporter
will transport your character to the begining of the level. The
Amulet Skeleton is in the other chamber. Approach the Amulet Skeleton
and press P (3DO version) to complete the level.
Level 6
Opponents: Gargoyles, Knight Haunts, Tentamorts
This level begins next to a rest area. Open the door and enter
the hallway. Explore the areas behind each door to gain items.
Note that the goop will damage your character. The door at the
far end of the hallway is locked. To obtain the key, face the
locked door and enter the middle door on the left side of the
hallway. Walk through the goop and open the next door. Enter the
room and use the teleporter. Jump across to the next platform,
then jump to the opening to the passageway. Follow the passage
until it ends at a series of platforms. Turn to the right and
jump on the platform that contains the keep key. Jump down and
move back to the hallway. Use the key on the locked door to enter
the next section of the level.
This room contains two large tall columns surrounded by goop.
Kill all enemies in this location and enter either of the two
sets of doors on the opposite side of the room. Your character
will enter another room with two large tall columns surrounded
by goop. Enter the door on the opposite side of the room and continue
forward to find another rest area. To continue, leave this rest
area and enter the room with the two columns. Enter the door to
the left and walk up the ramp to the top of the platform. The
platform will rise upward. Jump to the circular ledge before the
platform descends. Kill the tentamort with a missile weapon to
prevent being knocked off the ledge. Walk on the circular ledge
to the doorway. Explore the rooms on the left side of the passage
to gain more items, including Boots Of Goop Walking. Note that
the floor between the rooms will break away. (Your character will
fall into a room that contains a feast and other items. Use the
teleporter to return to an upper platform. Jump off the platform
and find the second rest area to try again.) Move to the end of
the passage and enter another circular ledge. Kill all enemies
at this location to avoid being knocked off the ledge. Jump on
the platform in the middle of the circular ledge. The platform
will rise. Jump to the next circular ledge before the platform
descends. Walk on the circular ledge to the doorway. Explore the
rooms on both sides of the passageway to obtain more items. Move
to the end of the passageway and enter another circular ledge.
Kill all enemies at this location to avoid being knocked off the
ledge. Note that a fireball at this location may also knock your
character off the ledge. Jump on the platform in the middle of
the circular ledge to descend. Jump to the next circular ledge
before the platform rises again. Walk on the circular ledge to
the doorway. Explore the rooms on the left side of the passage
to get more items. Note that the floor between the rooms will
break away. (The room below also contains a feast and other items.)
Move to the end of the passageway and enter another circular ledge.
Jump to the platform in the middle of the circular ledge. The
platform will rise. Jump to the ledge before the platform descends.
Move along the ledge and enter the door. Move to the end of the
hall. Walk up the stairs and take the Boots Of Jumping before
completing the level by entering the blue temple chamber.
Level 7
Opponents: Tshala, Large Slimes, Cildabrins
The level begins in a small room with only one door. Enter the
door and go up the tower ramp to the first door. Enter the door.
Go past the green lamps, turn right, and turn right again. Your
character will be near three doors that are separated by four
green lamps. Enter the middle door and go down the stairs. Explore
the passages in this area to find two tower keys, a feast, and
other items. Return to the stairs and return to the three doors
separated by the four green lamps. Explore the areas behind the
other two doors to obtain more items. Return to the three doors
separated by the four green lamps. Explore the remaining areas
of this section to obtain more items. Note that two tower keys
are needed to progress in the tower. Do not open the doors in
this section that are at the bottom of a short staircase on either
side of a fountain. They are locked and will use a tower key for
entry. Return to the tower ramp after this section has been explored.
Walk up the ramp and enter after unlocking it with a tower key.
Your character will enter an enclosed courtyard area with seven
doors, including the one used to enter this area. Turn left and
enter the first door. Jump on the platform in the middle of the
circular ledge. (If your character falls, jump through the acid
and use the teleporter in the corner to return to the enclosed
courtyard.) Jump to the upper ledge after the platform rises.
Take the tower key. Return to the enclosed courtyard by looking
down at the lower circular ledge and facing the door. Walk off
the upper ledge and land on the ledge that is front of the door.
To find a rest area, enter the second door on the right in the
enclosed courtyard. Jump on the platform in the middle of the
circular ledge and jump to the upper ledge after the platform
rises. After this section is explored, return to the tower ramp.
Walk up the ramp to the next door. There is a secret door to the
left, just before the last tower door. Open the secret door and
open all secret doors at the ends of the dark passage. After all
items are taken (including Boots Of Acid Walking), return to the
tower ramp. Unlock and enter the top tower door and follow the
passage until it ends at a locked door. Unlock this door and follow
the ledges to the left. Ignore the teleporters and continue to
the left, following the long passageway until it ends. Approach
the red chest after using the feast and press P (3DO version)
to complete this level.
Level 8
Opponents: Tentamorts, Skeleton Warriors, Purple Worms
This level begins in a room with a single door. Open the door
and enter a room with eight doors (including the one used to enter).
Go through the door on the opposite side of the room to reach
an intersection with a locked door and two passageways. Follow
the left passageway and explore the archways that open to adjacent
rooms, but do not use the teleporters. One of the archways opens
to a stairway. Take the keep key that is in the room at the end
of this path. Return to the archway that opened to the stairway.
Open the door that is next to this archway and enter the goop
covered room with three columns and a platform. Step on the platform
to rise above the floor. Jump to each column until your character
can jump through the doorway at the top of the room. Go to the
end of this room and cross the ledge to reach the next room. Explore
the area behind the door on the left side to obtain items. Return
to the door and cross the ledge to reach the next room. Explore
the area behind the door on the left side to obtain items, but
do not use the teleporter. Return to the door and cross the ledge
to reach a rest area that contains a keep key and a feast. Return
to the teleporter and use to transport your character to a short
hallway with another teleporter. Enter the other teleporter to
transport your character to the upper area of the starting room
with the eight doors. Collect all items here and jump down to
the ground level. Enter the far door to return to the intersection
with the locked door and two passageways.
Follow the right passageway and explore the archways that open
to adjacent rooms, but do not use the teleporters. One of the
archways opens to a stairway. There is a rest area at the end
of this path. Return to the archway that opened to the stairway.
Open the door that is next to this archway and enter the goop
covered room with three columns and a platform. Step on the platform
to rise above the floor. Jump to each column until your character
can jump through the doorway at the top of the room. Go to the
end of this room and cross the ledge to reach the next room. Explore
the area behind the door on the right side to obtain items including
a keep key. Return to the door and cross the ledge to reach the
next room. Explore the area behind the door on the right side
to obtain more items, but do not use the teleporter. Return to
the door and cross the ledge to reach a rest area that contains
a feast. Cross the ledge to return to the room with the teleporter.
Use the teleporter to transport your character to a short hallway
with another teleporter. Enter the other teleporter to transport
your character to one of the rooms off the main passageway. Return
to the intersection with the locked door and two passageways.
Use a keep key to unlock the door and go through the next door.
Climb the winding stairway to the top of this area. Unlock the
door at the top of the stairway and go to the locked door on the
opposite side of the room. Unlock the door and enter the teleporter.
Your character will be teleported to an area with three stairways.
Climb up and use the feast before entering the blue temple chamber
to complete this level.
Level 9
Opponents: Flesh Golems, Glass Golems, Skeleton Warriors
This level begins in a room that ends with a single door. Enter
the door to enter a central chamber with a platform containing
a feast surrounded by ooze. Enter the left door of the two adjacent
doors on the left side of the feast to enter the first section
of this level.
The entry to the first section consists of two parallel corridors
separated by an upper ledge that is reached by a set of stairs
at the end of the corridors. Move down the left parallel corridor
and enter the opening on the left wall. This room contains a large
column with two sets of wide stairs on either side of the room.
Move to the other side of the large column and enter the opening.
Walk up the short set of stairs and move to the left to find a
rest area. Explore the other end of this corridor to find items.
Return to the short set of stairs and descend. Enter the chamber
opposite the stairs to collect more items. Return to the room
with the wide stairs. Climb either set of stairs. The far wall
at the top of the stairs will descend. Run to the platform at
the top of the wall to ascend to the upper area of this section.
Jump across to the upper corridor. Walk forward until the corridor
reaches an intersection. Quickly turn left at the intersection
and explore the rooms to the left and right to find more items.
(Walking forward at the intersection will bring your character
to another vertically moving platform that leads to the other
set of wide stairs from the lower area. Note that fireballs will
begin shooting down the intersection.) Return to the intersection
and turn left or right. When your character reaches the far ledge,
a secret door will open releasing skeletal warriors, which will
fall to the lower area. Jump across to the far ledge to descend.
Return to the parallel corridor and move around the stairs to
reach the opposite side. Enter the room that is off the corridor.
Use the Boots Of Jumping to reach the upper ledge to collect more
items, including Boots Of Ooze Walking. (This ledge can also be
reached by falling from an upper area later in the level.) Return
to the central chamber with the feast surrounded by ooze. Turn
left and enter the left door of the two adjacent doors to reach
the second section of this level.
In the second section, take the tower key and other items from
the room with the square pool of ooze. Enter the left door of
the two adjacent doors in this room to reach a rest area. Enter
the door at the opposite side of the rest chamber to enter another
room with a square pool of ooze. Collect the items at this location
and enter the left door of the two adjacent doors in this room
to return to the central chamber. Turn left and enter the left
door of the two adjacent doors to reach the third section of this
level.
The third section is similar to the first section of this level
and consists of two parallel corridors separated by an upper ledge
that is reached by a set of stairs at the end of the corridors.
Move down the left parallel corridor. Note the opening on the
left wall that leads to a room containing multiple items. Do not
enter this room from the opening, as this will trigger a fire
storm. The items will be accessible later by falling from an upper
area later in the level. Continue to the end of the parallel corridor
and move around the stairs to reach the opposite side. Enter the
opening on the wall to reach a room that contains a large column
with two sets of wide stairs on either side of the room. Move
to the other side of the large column and enter the opening. Walk
up the short set of stairs and move to the right to find a rest
area. Explore the other end of this corridor to find items. Return
to the short set of stairs and descend. Enter the chamber opposite
the stairs to collect more items. Return to the room with the
wide stairs. Climb either set of stairs. The far wall at the top
of the stairs will descend. Run to the platform at the top of
the wall to ascend to the upper area of this section. Jump across
to the upper corridor. Walk forward until the corridor reaches
an intersection. Quickly turn left at the intersection and explore
the two rooms in this area to gain additional items. (Walking
forward at the intersection will bring your character to another
vertically moving platform that leads to the other set of wide
stairs from the lower area. Note that fireballs will begin shooting
down the intersection.) Return to the intersection and turn left
or right. When your character reaches the far ledge, a secret
door will open releasing skeletal warriors, which will fall to
the lower area. Jump across to the far ledge to descend. Return
to the parallel corridors and climb the stairs at the end of both
corridors. Walk forward on the ledge that contains a rock and
enter the teleporter at the far end to reach the fourth section
of this level.
Your character will be transported to the a chamber with a wand
in the fourth section. Walk though the archway, and move to the
archway at the opposite side of the hall. The floor will rise,
bringing your character to another chamber with a stairway and
a feast. Climb the series of stairways and enter the chamber at
the top. The floor will break away, sending your character down
into a room with a pool of ooze. Enter the alcove in this room
and open the secret door to collect the items on the upper ledge
of the room in the third section. Return to the parallel corridors,
climb the stairs, and enter the teleporter. Climb the series of
stairways and avoid the pit by moving left along the ledge to
the archway. Your character will enter a room
with a large column that separates two short staircases and two
archways. Explore the areas beyond the two archways to collect
more items and a feast. Explore the rooms at the top of both short
staircases to find more items, including a Bow Of Neverending
Arrows and a tower key. Return to the central chamber and go to
the first section of this level. Climb the stairs at the end of
both parallel corridors. Walk forward on the ledge that contains
a dart of homing and enter the teleporter at the far end to reach
the fifth section of this level.
The fifth section of this level is similar to the fourth section
of this level. Walk through the archway and move to the archway
at the opposite side of the hall. The floor will rise, bringing
your character to another chamber that contains a stairway and
rations. Climb the series of stairways and enter the chamber at
the top. The floor will break away, sending your character down
into a room with a pool of ooze. Enter the alcove in this room
and open the secret door to collect the items on the upper ledge
of the room in the first section. Return to the parallel corridors,
climb the stairs and enter the teleporter. Climb the series of
stairways and avoid the pit by moving right along the ledge to
the door. Open the door with a keep key. Your character will enter
a room with a large column that separates two short staircases
and two archways. Explore the rooms at the top of both short staircases
to find more items, including a feast and a Ring Of Sustenance.
Return to the room with the large column and enter the archway
to find a teleporter. Use the teleporter to reach the sixth section
of this level.
Your character enters the sixth section in a room with a single
door. Open the door and enter an intersection containing four
doors (including the door used to enter). The door to the left
opens to a room with a feast. The door to the right opens to a
room with an item. Unlock the door directly ahead and enter the
alcove in the chamber. The floor will rise to a short hall that
leads to the final chamber that contains a green chest. Approach
the green chest and press P (3DO version) to complete the
level.
Level 10
Opponents: Tentamorts, Gargoyles, Vampires
The first section of this level has the following layout (not

Go to room B and drop down the pit in the archway to reach area
J. Collect the items in the rooms in this location and use the
teleporter to return to room B. Return to room A. Go to room C
and drop down the pit in the archway to reach area K. Collect
the items in this location and use the teleporter to return to
room C. Return to room A. Go to room E and drop down the pit in
the archway to reach area P. Collect the items in this location
and use the teleporter to return to room E. Return to room A.
Go to room D and drop down the pit in the archway to reach area
Q. Collect the items in the rooms in this location and use the
teleporter to return to room D. Return to room A. Go to room G
and step in the archway to descend to area L. Take all items and
use the feast in this area before using the platform to ascend
to room G. Drop down the pit in the archway to reach area M. Take
all the items in this area. Return to room A by stepping on a
rising platform to reach a teleporter. Go to room I. Drop down
the pit in the archway to reach area N. Take all the items in
this area. Return to room A by stepping on a rising platform to
reach a teleporter. Return to room I and step in the archway to
descend to area O. Take all the items and use the feast in this
area in this area before using the platform to ascend to room
I. Return to room A. Go to room F to enter the second section
of this level.
Room F is a large room with four ledges with doors above a goop
covered floor. Drop down to the upper ledge. (If your character
misses, or falls off the ledge, use the teleporter at the bottom
to return to the top of the room.) Collect the items behind both
sets of doors. Jump across the pit to the middle ledge. The area
behind the left door contains several items, including a Ring
Of Invisibility. The area behind the right door contains a feast.
Drop down to the lower ledge that contains two sets of crates.
Explore the areas behind both doors to collect more items. Jump
across the pit to the other lower ledge that contains a single
set of crates. Enter either door and use the teleporter to enter
the third section of this level.
The third section begins in a room with several items, including
an Amulet Of Imminent Return. Walk down the passageway to the
a room with a descending ramp. Walk down the passageway until
the sloped roof is reached. Enter the arch on the opposite side
and collect the items at this location. Note that this room contains
a rising platform. Return to the sloped roof area and move to
the opposite end. Enter the archways to find a feast and a rest
area with a keep key. Return to the sloped room area and return
to the room with the rising platform. Step on the platform to
rise to the top of the room. When the platform reaches the top
of this area, turn and jump into the alcove that contains the
Ring Of Flying. Collect the other items in the alcove before using
the teleporter to return to room A. Go to room H to enter the
fourth section of this level.
Room H is a large room with two ledges with openings above a goop
covered floor. Drop down to the upper ledge. (If your character
misses, or falls off the ledge, use the teleporter at the bottom
to return to the top of the room.) Use the rest area and enter
the archway. Follow the passage until it ends with a chamber containing
several archways. Move cautiously, as several vampires inhabit
this area. Collect all items and use the feast in this area and
return to the rest area. Jump across to the lower ledge. Enter
the large room and follow the passage in the wall. Move down the
passageway and duck into the side rooms to avoid the fireballs.
A Ring Of Sustenance and a feast are located in one of the side
rooms. Use the teleporter at the end of the passage to enter the
fifth section of this level.
The fifth section begins on a ledge with a feast above a sloped
roof area. Use the feast and move to the opposite end of the room
and drop down to another sloped roof area. Turn left, move to
the end and drop down to another sloped roof area. Turn left and
drop down to another sloped roof area. Turn right and move to
the end of this area and enter the archway to find Boots Of Flying.
Note that a fireball trap will be triggered when taking the boots.
(The teleporter beyond the archway on the opposite end of this
area to will transport your character to Room A.) Return to the
feast at the beginning of this section. (If necessary, use the
Amulet of Imminent Return and retrace the route through room H.)
From the sloped roof area containing the feast, move to the opposite
end and drop down to another sloped roof area. Turn left, move
to the end, and drop down to another sloped roof area. Turn left,
move to the right of the column, and drop down to another sloped
roof area. Turn left, move to the end of the area and enter the
teleporter beyond the archway. Your character will be transported
to the interior of an archway above another sloped roof area.
Enter the sloped area and move to the middle, where the wall dips
into a "V". Use the Ring Of Flying or Winged Boots to
ascend into the "V". Move to the opposite side of the
"V" and drop down to another sloped roof area.. Turn
right and move to the end, enter the archway to the right, and
use the teleporter. Your character will be transported to a large
room with a wide ramp. Walk up the ramp and unlock the door with
the keep key. Enter the blue temple chamber to complete the level.
Level 11
Opponents: Will o' Wisps, Tshala, Nabassu
This level begins in a room with two single doors on either side
of a set of double doors. Three tower keys must be collected to
complete this level. Note that your character can use the Ring
Of Flying or Winged Boots to rise to the windows above the double
doors and use the rest area visible through the windows, even
though it is in a different room. Enter the double doors and explore
the areas behind them. Note which doors are locked in order to
prevent accidental use of a tower key later in the level. Return
to the starting location for this level. Enter the single door
to the right of the double doors. There is a rest area beyond
the first opening to the right in the passage. Take the items
in this location. There is a Ring Of Flying hidden behind an alcove
on the upper ledge in the rest area. Return to the passage and
turn right and follow the path until it ends at a door. There
is a secret door just to the right of the door that contains another
Ring Of Flying. Open the door and collect the items inside the
room. Approach the spinning globes and press P (3DO version)
to teleport to the second section of this level.
The second section contains multiple fireball and firestorm traps.
A tower key is located in the first part of this level. The easiest
way to find it is to turn right at every opportunity. The key
may be found after turning right the second time. It is located
in the section of hallway between the firestorm trap and the first
large room. This is the only place where the path truly branches.
Continue ahead and avoid the numerous fireball and firestorm traps
by sidestepping into the safe areas that are along the path. Use
an Orb Of Seeing to find the wide secret door in the middle of
a firestorm trap area. A rest area is hidden behind the secret
door. The path winds around and eventually opens into a large
room. In the center of the room is platform that will take your
character up into another large room. There are two exits from
this second large room that both lead to the same place. This
in turn leads to a slightly winding passageway without fire hazards.
Eventually, your character will reach a straight path that has
four rising platforms. Enter the blue temple chamber that is past
the rising platforms to return to the first section.
Enter the double doors in the first section. This area consists
of winding ramps and a series of large rooms. To prevent using
the tower key by accident, do not open any doors that were previously
discovered to be locked. Move up the ramps until one of the identical
rooms containing a set of spinning globes is found. Approach the
spinning globes and press P (3DO version) to teleport to
the third section (or fourth section, depending on which set of
spinning globes is found first) of this level.
The third section begins in a room that opens to an area consisting
of branching ledges over red and blue goop. Follow the ledges
until your character reaches an area that is made of a series
of yellow brick columns in a "+" shape (when viewed
from above). Explore this area until our character steps on a
floor square that will rise upwards. This square is located in
a room with arched windows. Your character will be in a maze-like
area with ramps and small square open areas. Explore this area
until your character finds a wide ramp that leads to an apparent
dead end. Step next to the far wall to trigger the floor section
to move downward. Enter the lower area and take the tower key
that is on the elevated ramped platform in the center of the room.
Enter the blue temple chamber to return to the room in the first
section of this level that contained the globes. Note that the
globes no longer are spinning. Explore the area to find one of
the other room that contains spinning globes that are visible
from the windows in this location. Approach the spinning globes
and press P (3DO version) to enter the fourth section of
this level.
Your character enters the fourth section on a platform surrounded
by four doors and a pit of red and blue goop. Jump over the goop
and enter one of the doors. Move forward and step on the platform
on the floor to rise up. Move down the ramp and explore the rooms
on either side to find the tower key. If the tower key is not
found in this area, return to the platform surrounded by the four
doors and try the next door. After the tower key is found, return
to the platform surrounded by the four doors and find the door
that leads to two teleporters. Use the teleporter that does not
have a feast in front of it to return to the room in the first
section of this level that contained the globes. Return to the
starting location for this level.
Enter the single door that is to the left of the double doors.
Move ahead in the passage and take the items located in the room
behind the first opening on the left. Return to the passage and
move ahead until it ends at a door. Use a tower key to unlock
this door and the two following doors. Approach the blue chest
and press P (3DO version) to complete the level.
Level 12
Opponents: Lightning Golem
Use the Ring Of Flying or Winged Boots to avoid the Lightning
Golem until all needed items are collected from the ledges, beyond
the archways, and through the teleporters. When the Lightning
Golem is confronted, magic missiles may be used to defeat it and
complete the level. If necessary, use the feasts hidden throughout
the level to replenish hit points.
Level 13
Opponents: Bulettes, Farastu, Fire Elementals
This level begins in a room with a door and two passages. Follow
the passages to obtain a feast on one side and an item on the
other side. Exit through the door and move forward on the main
passage past the first intersection. Turn right at the next intersection
and move forward until your character reaches a door. Enter the
door and follow the passage until a large room with two ramps
is reached. Walk up the ramp that leads to a door and enter to
find a rest area with a fortress key and other items. Return to
the main passage and turn right (your character should be facing
away from the starting location of this level). Move forward until
your character reaches and intersection and turn right. Follow
the passage until it ends in a chamber with a feast and other
items. Return to the main passage and turn right (your character
should be facing away from the starting location of this level).
Move forward until the main passage ends at a "T" intersection.
Turn right and follow the passage until it ends in a large room
with a wide ramp. Walk up the ramp and enter the teleporter that
is at the top. Your character will be transported into a tall
room with a liquid floor. Walk up the spiral ramp and enter the
archway at the top to enter a room with a circular ledge. Take
the fortress key and the other items from the circular ledge before
jumping down the pit in the floor. Your character will fall into
another room with a liquid floor. Exit the room by using the liquid
path until a path with a normal floor is reached. Turn right and
move forward until the path ends at a door. Turn right just before
door and follow the passage to another door. Unlock this door
with a fortress key and enter. Move around the base of the circular
platform at the center of the room and walk up the ramp. Use a
running jump to leap over to the ledge that is above the door
used the enter the room. The ledge will raise your character up
to another room. Take the items in this area and enter the passageway.
Pass the wide passageway to the left and continue forward until
another room is entered. Take the items from this location and
return to the wide passageway. Move forward along the wide passageway
until it ends. Take the items at this location and enter either
blue temple chamber to complete the level.
Level 14
Opponents: Mages, Bulettes, Cornugons
This level begins in a chamber with two potions. Move down the
ramp to reach the main passageway. Move forward until your character
reaches an intersection. Take the items from both chambers that
are at the end of the passages to the left and right of the main
passageway. Return to the main passageway and move away from the
starting location until your character reaches the next intersection.
Take the items from both chambers that are at the end of the passages
to the left and right of the main passageway. Return to the main
passageway and move away from the starting location until your
character reaches a door. Use the door to enter the second section
of this level.
The second section begins in a room with a liquid floor with a
circular platform in the center, two doors (including the door
used to enter) and four passageways. Note that the door opposite
the door used to enter the room is locked. Each of the four passageways
leads to a room with a large square column in the center. The
corner of each square column that is directly opposite the passageway
will raise and lower. Jump on each of the four square column corners
when they are lowered to rise above to an upper room. Take the
items in the upper room and step on the platform in the center
of the room to descend. There is a fortress key in the upper room
that is reached by moving down the passage to the right of the
locked door. Use the key to unlock the door in the lower area.
Move up the long ramp and open the door at the top. Enter the
rest area and move into the blue temple chamber to complete the
level.
Level 15
Opponents: Bone Golems, Pit Fiends, Kelubar
This level begins in a rest area with four exits (one on each
side of the room). The remaining portion of the level consists
of a maze. Drop unneeded items to help mark your character's path
to avoid becoming lost. From the rest area, turn right and go
up the ramp. Turn left and go down the ramp. Turn right and go
down the ramp. Turn right at the lamp and go down the ramp. Turn
right at the feast, move forward to go past the first intersection,
and stop at the next intersection. Turn right and move forward
to go past the hanging lamp. Turn right and go down the ramp.
Turn left and go up the ramp. Turn left and go up the ramp. Turn
left and move forward to go down two ramps. Turn right and go
down a ramp. Turn right at the potion, and move forward to go
down two ramps. Turn left and move forward to go up a ramp and
down a ramp. Continue moving forward until the passage corners
to the right. Turn right and move forward. Turn left and go up
the next ramp. Turn right and go down the ramp. Take all the items
including the fortress key.
Turn around and go up the ramp. Turn left and go down the ramp.
Turn right and move forward to the pulsating cone. Turn left,
follow the passage, and go up the ramp. Turn right at the helm
and go down the ramp. Move forward until the passage turns right.
Follow it to the right and go up the next two ramps. Turn right
and go down the ramp. Turn right and unlock the door. Enter the
room and exit Take the items and enter either blue temple chamber
to exit the level.
Level 16
Opponents: Shators, Fire Elementals, Mages
This level begins in a room with a single door. Open the door,
enter the short hallway, and open the next door. Your character
will enter a wide room with two archways and two passageways.
Enter the passageway to the left of the door used to enter the
room and follow the ramp to the top to find a feast and other
items. Return to the wide room. Enter the other passageway and
follow the ramp to the top to find more items. Note that there
is a fireball trap in this room. Return to the wide room. Position
your character's back against the door. Enter the archway ahead
and to the right. (Entering the other archway will trigger multiple
fireball traps.) Your character will enter a second wide room
with two doors (one locked), two ramps, and two archways (that
lead back to the first wide room). Enter the unlocked door to
find a rest area. Exit the rest area and turn left. Move up the
ramp ahead of your character and enter the archway that appears
on the left. Follow the passage until it enters a large room.
Follow the spiral ramp downward until the bottom of the large
room is reached to find a feast, fortress key, and other items.
Follow the spiral ramp upward and return to the second wide room.
Unlock the door and enter the blue temple chamber to complete
the level.
Level 17
Opponents: Ultraloth
This level begins in a large room with items on platforms and
four teleporters. Use the teleporters to reach a rest area with
more items. After any needed items are collected, walk along the
far wall to find a set of two archways. Enter the archways and
kill the Ultraloth to complete the level.
Level 18
Opponents: The Necromancer
This level begins in a suspended platform with arches above a
rest area, some items, and four teleporters. Enter any teleporter
after collected any items and readying your character's weapons
and spells. Your character will be teleported into a large room
that contains the Necromancer's image on a platform in the center.
If more items are needed, take the four fortress keys and open
the doors at the edge of the room. A feast is also located behind
one of the doors. Kill the Necromancer to complete the game. Note
that fire based spells and weapons have no effect on him.
