Final Fantasy 7 cheats: Items…

Unlimited items:
This trick requires the W-Item materia. The materia is obtained after your party parachutes back into Midgar in Disc 2. After entering the subway tunnels in Sector 8, your party may walk away from the screen and encounter the Turks, or walk towards the screen to reach another subway section. Select the second choice and follow the subway tunnel until it ends at a dead end with the W-Item materia.
Information in this section was contributed by Aaron Bluhm and TomPatCat.

Equip the materia on the character with the item to be duplicated. When a battle begins, select the W-Item entry on the battle menu, select the item to be duplicated, then select any other item. Cancel that item, then choose another item, then cancel it as well. Every time you cancel the second item, the one that was initially chosen will increase by one.. Note: This will only duplicate item selectable in battle and can not be used to duplicate the various sources, materia, weapons, or armor. However, you must already own two or more of a battle selectable item.
Information in this section was contributed by WarmasterX.

Use the following trick to duplicate an item that you only have one of, and it can be a battle usable item. You must have the W-Item materia and have it equipped to any character. Get into a battle. Select the W-Item command and then select any item you want to be duplicated which you have one in value of (for example, an Elixir). Then, select the character to use it on. You now have a second choice of an item to use. Instead of selecting the same item like in the original trick, select a different item (for example, a Remedy). Then, instead of selecting the character to use it on, back out once to the item selection screen. You will then notice you have one more of the Elixir (or the first item you selected) instead of the empty slot after you selected the item you only had one of. Select the remedy again and back out and you will have another of the Elixir (or the first item selected). Keep repeating this to get as many of any item as needed.

Death Penalty:
Use the following trick to get Vincent's best weapon, Death Penalty, leveled up with very little effort. This requires a controller with an auto-fire feature, Fury Ring, and the Mega All Materia. Once you have given Vincent the Mega All (for Slash All), you can go almost anywhere on the world map with a fair amount of space. The weaker the enemies, the better. Also, avoid towns. Make sure the view is behind Cloud on the world map, and not above him, so that when you hold the D-pad you will turn and run and not continue in one direction. Equip Vincent with the Fury Ring so that he will always be in berserk status and will always hit all enemies. Then, tape Right or Left on the controller and set the auto-fire to Circle. You should be running in circles, and when a fight occurs, the only option available will be for Vincent to slay everything in a single blow. Enemy Lure is useful.

Getting a Gold Chocobo:
Get a Green Chocobo by mating two Great Chocobos or two Good Chocobos. Obtain Carob nuts by buying some the Gold Saucer Wonder Square for 500 GP or by stealing them from the Vlakarados creatures found near the Bone Village. Get the Chocobos to the S class, then give them a Carob nut. Race the Green Chocobo until it is in S class. Then, use a Carob nut and mate the same or different Chocobos. Then, race the Blue Chocobo until it is in S class. Use a Carob nut and mate the Blue and Green Chocobos. You will get a Black Chocobo. Race it until it is a S class Chocobo. Then, go to the Chocobo Tracks around the Icicle Inn area and get a Wonderful Chocobo. Race it until it is a S class Chocobo. Find the Zeio Nut on an island north of the Chocobo Farm. You can steal it from a Goblin that your party fights. If you do not steal anything at first, try a few more times then kill them and try again. Mate the Black Chocobo with the Wonderful Chocobo using a Zeio Nut. You should now have a Gold Chocobo that can go anywhere on the map.
Information in this section was contributed by Casey Mason and Richrich1989.

After you have the Desert Rose, trade it for the Gold Chocobo. Then, breed an S-Class Black with an S-Class Yellow Wonderful with a Zeio Nut. If you have a male and female Gold, breed them at S-Class with a Zeio Nut.

White Chocobo:
You can see a White Chocobo in a shop in Mideel -- it is not a baby Chocobo. That is a size of a White Chocobo, as they appeared in Final Fantasy 4.
Information in this section was contributed by Tyler Wright.

Catch Chocobo without Greens:
Get atleast 1 2x Cut materia and equip it to Cloud. Enter a chocobo match. Have Cloud use 2x Cut on the enemies. If you are lucky, the second attack will kill the other enemies, if there are any.
Information in this section was contributed by SonGohan.

Items from Chocobo racing:
Keep racing your Chocobo after it reaches "S" class. After racing seven to eight times, you will be complimented on finishing first in "S" class so many times. After that, you will be rewarded with a Chocobracelet, Counter Materia, Cat's Bell, and the Precious Watch.
Information in this section was contributed by AliMust and MarkDUhl.

Fast Chocobo breeding:
If your Chocobos are not ready to mate each with other, just catch two other ones and mate them. Repeat this procedure and after awhile the game will allow you to mate your Chocobos. Also try to catch a Chocobo and put it in the stable. Choose "Mating Chocobos" and select the Chocobos that you want to mate.
Information in this section was contributed by Twin Pixel.

Breeding a Chocobo is usually a very long expensive task. You must buy a lot of greens and have the gil to do it. There is a way to eliminate both problems. Visit both Choco Billy and Chocobo Sage and buy one of each Green. Then equip the W-Item Materia to someone and get into a battle. The best place to do this is just outside the Chocobo farm because it is close to your Chocobos and by this time the monsters can barely hurt you. Use the "Duplicate items" glitch by selecting your first Green, use it, select a second item, then cancel to clone the Green. Do this until you get 99 of that Green. Do this with the rest of the Greens. When you are done, kill the monsters and go back to the farm to feed your Chocobo. Select the Green you want to use and feed 98 of the Greens to the Chocobo. When you are done, you will have one of each green remaining. Repeat the duplication glitch to get 99 more Greens. You can now feed your Chocobos as many Greens as desired for the price of one. Note: It is best to put your Greens at the top of the item list when performing this trick.
Information in this section was contributed by davis thornton L.

Faster Chocobos:
Raise two Gold Chocobos to S rank, then mate them using a Carob Nut. You should get either a Blue or Green Chocobo. Make sure to keep a male and a female Gold Chocobo, as you will need them later. Once you can mate them again, use another Carob Nut, and you should get another Blue or Green Chocobo. You want the second Blue or Green Chocobo to be the opposite color and sex than the last one. Get them both to S rank, then mate them with a Carob Nut to get a very fast Black Chocobo. Race it up to S rank, then mate it with a Gold Chocobo of the opposite sex, using a Zeio Nut . You will not always get a Gold Chocobo immediately, so it is best to save the game before mating them. Reload the game if you do not get a Gold Chocobo and try again. Your new Gold Chocobo's speed should be an average of its parents' speed.
Information in this section was contributed by Jake Richardson.

Note: This trick requires at least 100,000 Gil. Go to the Chocobo Sage located on the Ice Continent near the Ice Village. Talk to him, and choose "Sell Me Something". Select Sylikes Greens and buy at least 10. Return to the Ranch and feed two Sylikes Greens to one Chocobo five times. This raises your speed, at by at least 11 each time. It also raises Stamina and Intelligence.
Information in this section was contributed by Ssj Gohan.

Get a male and female Gold Chocobo. Get them to at least class A, then use a Zeio Nut to mate them. A Gold Chocobo should be born. If it is not male, reset the game and try again. Give it Sylikes Greens (approximately ten) until it is maxed out. Its speed should now be 190.
Information in this section was contributed by Ssj Gohan.

Chocobo hunting:
Use the following trick to catch a wonderful Chocobo easily. When you are walking around on the tracks, if you encounter a Chocobo with two jumping rabbit monsters with it, catch that Chocobo. The Chocobo types are not random when you catch them. Every time you see the two jumping rabbits with a Chocobo, then that Chocobo is always a wonderful type. This also applies to the other areas where you catch Chocobos, such as the Mideel area. If you want to catch a great Chocobo, wait until you see a Chocobo with two spiral monsters with it.
Information in this section was contributed by GhEtToChiLdMaTiX.

Get Chocobos easier:
Get the Escape materia and raise it up a level so you will have Remove. When you battle a Chocobo, use your Remove magic and the monsters with the Chocobo will disappear, leaving you with the Chocobo.
Information in this section was contributed by Matt Craddock.

Use the Remove Materia. Chocobos cannot be Removed with the enemy and it does not do any damage to the Chocobo. Note: This works about 98% of the time.
Information in this section was contributed by Robert Carter.

Easy Choobo level up:
This trick requires at least two Slykis Greens and the W-Item Materia. You can buy these greens from the Chocobo Sage in the Northern Continent. After getting two of them, fight an easy enemy, such as the monsters by the Chocobo Ranch or Midgar. Kill all but one, then chose W-Item select the Slykis Greens. Use the "Unlimited items" trick to duplicate the greens until you have 99 of them. When you catch a good Chocobo, feed it 90 and everything will be leveled up fully.
Information in this section was contributed by Rosserfly.

Getting stolen Materia back from Yuffie:
Go to Wutai, which is located straight up from the location where she steals your materia. Yuffie should jump out in the item shop after you get Absorb materia. She will also steal that. Go to the house to the right, directly as you enter Wutai and press Circle (PlayStation version)next to the shade. She will jump out and leave. Next, she will be in the round case next to the bar. Press Circle (PlayStation version) there, and the two other members in your party will move to block the bridge. Hit the case and it will break. She will try to escape but cannot. She will end up taking you to her house and tell you to pull a lever. It does not matter which lever you pull -- a cage will drop down and she will escape again. Go to the well outside Lord Godo's house and ring the bell. A door will open. Go through it and you will find Corneo. Talk to him, then fight the shinra Soldiers. After that, you will team up with the Turks to get Elena and Yuffie back. They will be on the mountain where the hand meets the face. You will have to fight Corneo's pet. After you defeat him, Corneo will think he still has you defeated. The Turks will appear and you get your materia back.

On your first trip to Shinra HQ, you will meet Mayor Domino on the 62nd floor. He has a Keycard that he is willing to give you if you guess what the password is. If you get it correct on the first guess, he will give you an Elemental Materia as a bonus. To get the Keycard and Materia without going through the trouble of finding the hints, take the elevator down to the first floor and use the save point outside. Go back to Domino and take a guess at the password. If you are wrong, reset the game and guess until you are correct.

Master Materia:
To get Master Materia (Magic, Summon, and Command), have every materia of a color mastered. Then, return to Cosmo Canyon. Go to the color of all the materia you mastered. It will exchange all the Master Materia of that color and you will get the mastered materia. Do the same thing to every color to get all Master Materia. Alternately, defeat Emerald Weapon in the ocean off Junon. After you win, go to Kaml. Go to the house to the right. The man there will exchange all three Master Materia.
Information in this section was contributed by Fatedcircle255.

Use the following trick to get Master Magic, Master Command, Master Summon and Gold Chocobo. Morph the Ghost Ship in the tunnel in the Underwater Reactor. Take the Guide Book (which eliminates the time limit with Emerald Weapon) to the man in Kalm in the right-most house, up stairs. Defeat the Emerald weapon to get the Earth Harp. Defeat the Ruby Weapon to get the Desert Rose. When you have all of these, take them to the man and he will give you the Master Magic, Master Command, and Master Summon and a Gold Chocobo.

HP <-> MP Materia:
This trick requires a Black Chocobo. There is a desert cave located just opposite the Golden Saucer. Use a Black Chocobo to gain entry. Once inside, you will be able to get the HP <-> MP Materia. This Materia swaps your HP stats with your MP stats. For example, if your HP/MP is 9999/888, with this materia equipped it will be now 888/9999.
Information in this section was contributed by Slickone863.

Super MP Absorb:
Get the MP Absorb and Master Summon (W-Summon is suggested) materia. You can do this with any character, but Cloud is recommended. Equip the character you want to absorb MP with MP Absorb (it does not have to be mastered) linked with Master Summon. Enter a battle with this materia equiped and summon Knights Of The Round (two times if you have the W-summon materia). Once the summon is complete you will receive anywhere between 600 and 700 MP. This ability is very useful against the Ruby Weapon and Sephiroth.
Information in this section was contributed by R. Strife.

Unlimited Regen:
Instead of using Regen, which has a limited time of effect, equip yourself with an item or Materia that absorbs Poison. Make sure that it does not nullify Poison. Then, Poison yourself and you will recover health every turn until the very end of the battle. The best way to use this strategy is to equip the Poison Ring or the combination of the Elemental Materia level 3 with the Poison Materia in your armor.
Information in this section was contributed by Nightmarical.

Extra Ribbons:
Go to Geas Cliff. In the first cave after wrapping around to the bridge overlooking the door that was used to enter, walk straight to enter a cave with a box. Open it to find a ribbon. For a third ribbon, go to Northern Crater and morph a Master Tonbury. It is helpful if it is stopped first.
Information in this section was contributed by Tony Martinkus.

Information in this section was contributed by Tony Martinkus, Jonathan Fowlkes, and PJ Vogelsong.

Healing more effectively:
Equip Restore Materia linked to All Materia. When in battle, you can heal everyone in your party using the same amount of MP as if you were just healing one person.

Getting Protect Rings:
Equip any character with the Morph materia. Go to the North Cave in Disc 3. When prompted take the left or right path, choose the right path. This allows them to automatically start a new battle with Barrier in place.

Getting Cursed Rings:
You can get two Cursed Rings in the game, only before Mideel is destroyed. To get the first, go to Mideel on the Highwind when you are looking for Cloud and enter the town. Go up the staircase to the right of town and head towards the house to the far left. Go the right side of the house and you will hear a squeaky noises in some places. Press X (PlayStation version) and a message will appear, stating that you cannot get the object. Backtrack to the store near the staircase and enter. Go to the back of the store and press X (PlayStation version). You will say something. Go back to the squeaky floor and press X (PlayStation version). Tifa will get an idea, and you will get the object (Rusty Key). Go back to the store again and press X (PlayStation version) in front of the door. You will be given the option to try the key. Select "Yes" and the key will break. The manager will ask you if you broke the key. Tell him the truth and you will be rewarded with the Cursed Ring. To get the second Cursed Ring, simply steal it from Ultima Weapon when it attacks Mideel, when you visit Cloud for the second time. The Cursed Ring raises your statistics. The only drawback is that it casts a handful of status ailments to the equipped party member.
Information in this section was contributed by Cable.

Before Mideel is destroyed, go to the weapon shop. Examine the door in the back of the shop. Leave the shop and walk across the bridge to the left of the shop. Walk around the house until you here a kind of rattling sound. When you hear the sound, press Circle (PlayStation version) and you should get an Old Key. Take the key back to the weapon shop and examine the door in the back again. Choose to use the Old Key to unlock the door. After the key breaks, you will have a talk with the shop owner. When the shop owner asks "What happened?" tell him the truth and he will give you the Cursed Ring. This ring raises all of your stats by a lot, but it puts you on Death Sentence every time you enter a battle. The Death Sentence can be countered with a Phoenix Down.

Before Mideel has been destroyed, but after Cloud is missing, go to the Mideel Materia Shop. Run around to the right of it until you hear a "clink". Check the location to get a rusty key. Go into the weapons shop and use the key on the door in back. It will break off, and the shopkeeper will ask you what happened. Tell the truth to get the Curse Ring. This interesting accessory increases all your stats, but starts the character using it with a death counter.

Equip at least one of your characters with the Morph (or Enemy-Lure) materia and a powerful weapon then enter the Gonzaga area. Enter the site with the destroyed reactor. Every enemy you encounter should be a Large Tank. The tank is not too powerful (about 1600 HP), and every time you Morph it, you qill receive a Power Source. Information in this section was contributed by Cybaroach.

To easily get Beta on Disc 1, you will need Enemy Skill White Wind, Big Guard, and some mid-level spells. You can return to Junon when you have the buggy via the ship in Coasta De sol. Before the battle, one character should have Enemy Skill while another character equips the level 2 spells. Go into battle and start using your level 2 spells. If you have Demi, use it as it causes significant damage. Do not let your character with Enemy Skill attack too much, or he or she will be kicked out of the battle. When the snake rises, cast Big Guard on your party. Use White Wind to heal. When one character is kicked out of the battle, the snake will use Beta. Big Guard halves the damage done by Beta. Cure the party and you can use Beta immediately to kill the snake. If he caused a lot of problems before rising, wait until you get Odin, which cause major damage to the snake. Aqualung also works well.
Information in this section was contributed by Wong Liangzhu.

It is possible to acquire the Beta spell from the Midgar Zolom and defeat it the first time you encounter it. Equip Cloud with the Talisman and give him Enemy Skill and Restore Materia and linked Fire/Elemental in his armor. Equip another party member with Poison. Sense and a Restore/All will also help. Put everyone in the back row. At the start of the fight, cast Bio on the Zolom until it is poisoned. Wait for it to get low on health, then have someone other than Cloud attack it. It will knock that person out of the fight. Get Cloud to full health, hold his turn, and have the remaining party member attack the Zolom again. It will cast Beta, which Cloud should survive. Immediately have Cloud cast Cure on himself. Continue Curing every turn until the poison kills the Zolom. This may require a few attempts.

Information in this section was contributed by Ben Helling.

This requires lots of Memmit and Tantal Greens, and the Chocobo Lure Materia, Sense Materia and Enemy Skill (with level 4 Suicide) equipped. Walk along the tracks either outside the Chocobo Ranch or the tracks near Mideel. Once you find a Chocobo, feed it some Tantal Greens (this will delay its turn), then use Sense.
