General hints:
Talk to everyone, including Dr. Watson.
Try all the replies visible on the screen.
Look at every object, especially those that were picked up. They
usually lead to a new location on the map.
Alley
Get the cigarette butts, battered piece of paper, white powdery
residue, and iron pipe.
Look at the corpse, abrasions, scratches, and everything else
that can be pointed at. Likewise, look at every object that has
been picked up.
Talk to Inspector Lestrade. Exhaustively use up all the reply
options. It is also a good idea to talk to Dr. Watson or anyone
else. Use all the reply options.
Open the stage door and enter the Dressing Room.
Dressing Room
Get the perfume bottle, spring (under the wardrobe), flower, and
handwritten note. Remember to look at every object taken.
Talk to Henry Cattruthers. Give him the spring.
Talk to Shelia Parker. Tell Watson to give her a sedative to calm
her down. question Shelia again.
Sarah Carroway's Flat
Open the umbrella; get the brass key.
Look at the laundry basket; pick up the sweater; look at the rugby
sweater.
Look at the perfume bottle.
Belle's Perfumerie
Talk to Belle about the man who purchased the perfume bottle.
Exhaustively ask and answer her questions.
Buy perfume number 4: Cote D'Azur. Belle will go into the storage
room to get it; use this opportunity chance to talk to the cleaning
woman. Again, ask her about the man who purchased the perfume
bottle.
221B Baker Street
Use the flower on the lab table; use the flower on the microscope.
Use the oil-wicker burner. Use the flower on the flask.
Use the powdery residue on the lab table. Use the residue on the
flask. Use the oil-wicker burner. Use the residue on the test
tube.
Go outside and give the flower to Wiggins (the boy next to the
newspaper stand). Tell him to locate the person who sells this
artificially dyed flower.
Go to the Alley. Watson will suggest going to the Morgue.
Southwark Morgue
Ask the coroner for Sarah's effects. Try to get the large key.
He will state that he needs permission.
Talk to Inspector Gregson.
Scotland Yard
Holmes and Watson will not be able to go in.
Morgue
Talk to Gregson again. He will lead Holmes and Watson back to
Scotland Yard and permit entry.
Scotland Yard
Go in and talk to the duty officer. He will not be helpful.
Go outside and talk to the apparently blind vendor. Tell him that
some advice on getting past the duty officer is needed or else
he will be turned in.
Go inside and talk to the duty officer again. Ask for Inspector
Lestrade; tell him that his permission is needed to get at Sarah's
effects.
Talk to the duty officer to obtain a permission slip.
Morgue
Show the permission slip to the coroner.
Get the large key.
Alley
Open the stage door with the large key.
Dressing Room
Go inside; open the drawer with the brass key. Look at the top
drawer and get the opera tickets.
Chancery Opera House
Show the tickets to usher on the left.
Talk to the manager. Ask to see Anna Carroway's Dressing Room.
He will refuse.
Go right and show the tickets to usher on the right. Go upstairs.
Show the tickets to the elderly woman. Follow the dialogue and
she will provide a note giving access to Anna Carroway's Dressing
Room. Get all of the information from the elderly woman; it
is crucial mentions that Sarah's boyfriend (the one who hates
Sarah's pendant) name is James.
Go down and show the note to the manager. He will take Holmes
and Watson to the dressing room. Try to open up the drawer inside
the dressing room. The manager will protest. Go down and Watson
will suggest a distraction. Talk to the manager to return to the
dressing room.
Talk to Watson so he can distract the manager by going into the
closet to search for something. Open the drawer and look at the
middle one. Get the ring of keys.
221B Baker Street
Wiggins should be back. If not, wander around other locations
until he returns. He will state that he has located the flower
seller in Covent Gardens.
Covent Gardens
Talk to the young girl selling flowers. Buy a flower from her
first and then get all the information she has.
Pick up the flower bouquet in the barrel. Use the wire basket
in the barrel to get the cuff-links.
Moongate Pub
Talk to the bartender (Publican) about the cuff links. Then ask
him about the man who came into the pub. He must be defeated in
an interactive sequence of darts before he reveals this bit of
information.
Challenge the other three drunks. Beat them and then challenge
the bartender.
Hattington Street Chemist
Buy any potion from the chemist.
Talk to the stock boy. Get all the information that he has.
South Kensington Field
The person to be found is named James. These three pieces of information
are needed to find him: What he smokes (from the cleaning lady
in Belle's Perfumerie), his name (from the elderly woman
in the Chancery Opera), and his physical appearance (from
Belle in Belle's Perfumerie).
If all this information has been obtained, talk to the coach and
James will come running out from the field. Talk to him about
Sarah Carroway. Then show him the perfume bottle.
Dormitory
Talk to James; in the end he will not believe his beloved Sarah
is dead until he is shown proof.
221B Baker Street
Talk to Jonas the newspaper seller. Ask him for last week's newspaper.
Then talk to Wiggins as he can obtain it.
Dormitory.
Show the newspaper to James. Get all the information that he has.
St. Bernard's Public House
Talk to the two billiard players and the spectator. Not much information
will be obtained initially. The player in the yellow sweater (Jack
Mahoney) has the necessary information.
After talking to the trio, talk to the bartender. Ask him about
the marriage status of Jack Mahoney.
Then talk to Jack again. He will probably tell Holmes to bug off
at first, but then he will listen when threatened with telling
his wife about his mistress. He will give in and provide the location
of Antonio Caruso's Flat.
Antonio Caruso's Flat
Talk to Antonio. Get all the information that he has. He will
tell Holmes and Watson the location of Anna Carroway's Flat
and about a little boy who's attached to Anna and how he likes
to play with a gyroscope.
Anna Carroway's Flat
First, use the doorbell and use the knocker a few times. Then
use the ring of keys to open the door and go inside.
Look at the silver salver and get the calling cards. Be sure to
get the calling card of Jacob Farthington, Barrister. Ignore the
calling card of Antonio Caruso.
Move the left plant pot to spill some dirt.
Go upstairs and talk to the cleaning lady. Tell her some dirt
was spilled downstairs. When she's gone, move the statue and get
the book. Look at the book.
The Law Office Of Jacob Farthington
Talk to him and he will tell the entire story of the Carroway
family.
221B Baker Street
Talk to Wiggins and get his gyroscope.
Picnic Site And Playground
Use the gyroscope on solitary boy. Talk to him and then give
him the gyroscope. He will leave his cap. Take the cap and look
at it.
Eddington's Equestrian Shop
Talk to the counterman. At first, he will not reveal who purchased
the cap.
Look at the coat of arms. Some of them are fake. Cry fraud and
wait for the two customers to depart.
Talk to Watson and see what he thinks and then talk to the counterman
again. Get all the information that he has.
Bradley's Tobacco Shop
Talk to the young man behind the counter.
Move the crates. When he protests, just talk to him again. Move
all three crates so they form a step under the moose head. Step
up and look at the head. Then move the head.
Oxford Taxidermy
Get the knife (next to the carcass on the table) and the smock.
Look at both items.
Talk to Watson.
Talk to Lars. Tell him that he will be in trouble if he does not
reveal Blackwood's location.
Talk to Watson so to get Toby the dog to sniff out Blackwood in
the Surrey.
Sherman's Place
Talk to Sherman.
Get the leash. Use the leash on Toby (he is under the store's
two front windows) to be transported to the Docks.
Docks
Open the shed door and get the hammer. Move the barrel so it is
in front of the right door. Step up on barrel by looking at the
pail. Get the pail. Get the rag.
Use the pail on the Thames River. Use the rag on the pail. Use
the wet rag on the window. Look in the window.
Move the barrel to get at the door. Use the hammer on the door.
Holmes and Watson will return to 221B Baker Street.
Scotland Yard
Talk to the duty officer and ask for a pass to visit the prisoner
in Row Street Police Court.
Row Street Police Court
Show the pass to guard.
Open the gate and talk to Blackwood.
Jaimeson Buying And Selling
Talk to Nigel Jaimeson. Try all the different dialogue options
and he will eventually give some information to Holmes.
Moorehead And Gardner Detective Agency
Talk To The Receptionist. Try all the different dialogue options
and she will eventually give some information to Holmes.
London Zoological Gardens
Talk to Officer Dugan.
Open the gates. Go right. Look at corpse, its broken leg, and
all other items. Talk to Inspector Gregson and his constable.
Enter the head keeper office. Talk to Hollington. Get the name
of lion keeper from Hollington: Simon Kingsley.
Exit the head keeper office go left to get to the elephant. Go
left again. Look at the shiny object in the lion's den. Try to
get it.
Simon Kingsley's Flat
Talk to Simon. Look at his boots. Talk to Simon again. Look at
the picture of Felix the lion. Talk to Simon. Look at his books
about animals. Ask him to hold Felix down while Holmes enters
the lion's den to retrieve the shiny object.
London Zoological Gardens
Go to lion's den and take the shiny object. Look at it. It is
a pocket watch with a piece of paper inside.
Moorehead And Gardner Detective Agency
Try to open the door. Talk to Watson. Talk to the receptionist.
Pick up the typewriter and throw it through the door.
Watch the scene between Robert Hunt, Moorehead, Holmes and Watson.
Holmes and Watson will return to 221B Baker Street.
Moorehead And Gardner Detective Agency
Go into the office. Move the comfortable chair. Move the false
bookshelf.
Use the safe combination from the piece of paper on the safe.
Open the safe and get the pendant. Look at the pendant. Read the
letter.
Lord Brumwell's Manor
Ring the bell. Go inside and talk to Lady Brumwell.
Open door and confront Lord Brumwell. He will leave and lock Holmes
and Watson in the room.
Move the left Persian sword. Move the painting and open the safe.
Get the key and use it on the door to open it.
Follow Lord Brumwell outside. Watch the bridge jumping scene.
Robert Hunt's Flat
Open the small book (on the night stand next to the bed) and get
the bookmark.
Jaimeson Buying And Selling
Give the bookmark to Nigel. Look at the tarot cards.
Covent Garden
Go inside the Palmist Place.
Use the key on the desk drawer. Open it and the get silver key.
Move the candle on the left column. Use the silver key on the
strong box. Open it and get the parchment. Look at the parchment.
Savoy Street Pier
Save the game at this point, the next move will complete the game.
Use the iron bar on the door. Watch the ending.
