Skeleton Warrior strategy

Note: This is the HTML version of an unattributed document. Inapplicable material has been omitted.

Attack hints:
Master the Bounce Attack. This involves jumping up and then using a Downward Slash on the enemy. If it is done properly, most of the early enemies can be killed with one strike with no damage to you. It is possible to stay in the air by rebounding off the heads of enemies while using this attack.

Using a crouch/walk can get you under the swords of the sword wielding skeletons on the early levels.

Kill airborne enemies first.

Remember that your character can run.

The Energy Attack (blue, non-special) shots rebound off the edges of the screen. Use this to your advantage by firing away from an enemy if you do not have time to turn around.

Gain proficiency with the block button. It helps with the bosses and later stages.

Level hints:
Crystal Mine
Those "Pirates" with the flintlock pistols can be tough, but you can duck under their shots. While ducking, a Bouncing Bomb or two will take care of them.
Run after the second group of platforms to avoid the falling rocks.
When you are scooting along the platforms, the skeletons are not a problem. Watch the beams. Jump over them.

Mountain Top

The Wolves can be annoying little beasts. A Bouncing Bomb will blast them from their lair, while a block/slash or two will take care of them once and for all. If there is a skeleton around, bounce from him to Bounce Attack the wolves.

Skybike (all)

Fire as fast as possible!
Try to avoid the extreme edges of the screen because you are on a 'track' and can be forced into a structure.
When you die on the Skybike bonus levels you do not lose a life in the "main" game. So be brash, be bold and get all the goodies you can! You can actually finish this level, but there does not seem to be any benefit to it.

Crystal Cave

Use the 3-shot to take out those "Crapping Jellyfish"
Treat the "Land Lobsters" as the Wolves were handled on the earlier levels.

Araculan Temple

Once you get here you need to start using the "hanging" move. Press Up or Jump to jump and hold Up + Left or Right to move along hand over hand while hanging from a platform. Press Jump again to let go or Jump or Up at an edge to jump to a higher level.
You can take out the Tendrils with a Jump + Right Slash. Stand almost under them so that they unfurl but do not touch them. Then, do the Jump + Right Slash move.
Try to jump when those funny guys in the background throw rocks at you. They do little or no damage while you are in the air.

Mudu

Not much Bounce Attack needed here. Just beware of those yellow "Chasers" in the air.
Take out the "Snappers" (green plants) with a Bouncing Bomb.
The "Gloop" on the floor can be taken out with angled Slashes.
At the very end of the level comes a "Big 'ol Mother" - waste him for a white energy ball (50).

Deeper Temple

Follow the tips for Araculan Temple.
Those funny guys who throw white rocks from the background are not so funny now. Jump when you see one of those babies coming!
The only way to get that tasty One-Up you see halfway through the level is to bounce off some Bats or someone's skull.
The "hanging move" (above) will get you by some hairy sections quickly.

Siminia

More "hanging move" here.
There is a "Napalm" power-up about halfway through the ground level. Use some "hanging jump-ups" to get this useful little toy.

Gorgon Airship

Keep moving to keep the Sentry Drones from firing, and save your ammo to waste them when possible.

Gorgon Tunnels

You must run to avoid those spiked balls!
The springs are color coded according to how high they push you. Use this as a landmark in case you become lost.
Rebound shots can help you here.

Luminicity

This level is tough! Use Jumpshots to pick off any enemies on a higher ledge before you climb up

Dark City

Drink two Jolt Colas before starting!

Baron's Manor

All your old friends are here to welcome you - is not that special? Save your Crystal Juice for the last four bosses

Hidden item:
In the Crystal Mines (level 1) there is a hidden extra life that you can find above the second platform. Here's how to get it: There is a single beam above the platform - press Jump while holding Up to hang from the beam by your hand. While hanging there press Jump again to land on top of the beam. Next, jump up and slightly to the right to get the hidden extra life.

The extra life is always there. Even if you die and have to re-start the level, you can pick it up. You can always finish this level with all lives (or one extra).

Bosses:
Ursa is pretty easy. Basically run to the far side of the screen while the rocks fall, and then Bounce Attack (see above) the rest of the time. Your life meter becomes filled on the next level so even if you barely scrape by you are OK.

Dagger is a little tougher. He has two lives for one thing! Basically, in round one use Bounce Attacks while avoiding his axe. In round 2 block his flame bombs while they are in the air and then run up on him with a sword attack. If you have any Bouncing Bombs they can be a handy way to whittle down his life bar. You can make Dagger come to you by standing and blocking his fire bombs.

Aracula "just" needs standard Bounce Attacks except when he jumps high. At that point stand and slash upward. Also, blast him with 3-Shot if you have it. By the way - he has 2 lives (found that out the hard way).

Shriek has a floating thing to distract you but forget it and kick her skinny butt. Look out for the edges though!

The Final Showdown has encore performances by everyone plus your "evil twin" and something else! The evil twin can do everything you can do except projectile attacks. Exploit this weakness! You go against Aracula and Shriek at once, but it's not too bad because they share one life bar. Use the usual tactics for each, but be aware that their attacks score higher now. This version of Dagger takes 25% of your life with every hit! Fight him like before, but very carefully. With the last boss - the Bounce Attack does not cut it with this guy. Pop the enemies that fly by for some extra health (which you will need). Good luck!
