Bonus characters:
Before inserting your coin(s), press the Trigger nine or eleven times then hold the Trigger one more time. Insert your coin(s) while the trigger is held to unlock two new characters. A new set of characters will be available for each of the two different number of Trigger presses. The new characters are the "Original Default" police woman and detective from the Japanese version of the game, The Keisatsukan 2.

Hold Start and press the Trigger fifteen times while aiming off screen at the course selection screen. Release Start, then select a course.

Hint: Bonus level:
Most (if not all) of the stages have an elusive enemy with an orange target ring that darts across the screen during the level. For example, in Kobe he is in the distance at the part where the Yakuza are throwing grenades from the top of the building. If you kill three of these orange enemies, the last level will take place in a shopping mall with heightened difficulty and two crime bosses at the end.
