Also known as "Arcade Mod" or "Game Developer Mod"
codes, these settings require a hardware modification done by
MAS Systems prior to
use. This modification allows the Neo*Geo to appear to software
as an MVS. In addition to allowing blood to appear in various
games, the modification allows the continues, lives, bonuses,
difficulty, language, and other game parameters to be altered.
Game Debug Dip codes, which can enable custom effects in a manner
similar to GameShark and Game Genie devices on other game systems,
can also be entered.
To enter Game Debug Dip codes, press Select + C
after the game loads to enter the Arcade Mod main menu. Then,
select the Game Debug Dip option to display the following information:
GAME DEBUG DIP
12345678
DIP 1 00000000
12345678
DIP 2 00000000
Turning on one of these Dips actives a debug option. For example,
suppose a code is described as follows:
| Dip code
| Effect |
| 2-4 | Press Select for RGB test palette
|
To enable this code, highlight the Dip position at row 2 column
4 and press A. The zero value at that location will change
to a one:
GAME DEBUG DIP
12345678
DIP 1 00000000
12345678
DIP 2 00010000
Press C to resume the game with the code enabled. Some
codes require that the game be restarted before the effects can
be enabled.
When experimenting with unfamiliar dips, or if the system glitches
and freezes up, immediately remove the memory card. The development
system apparently uses a similar interface for saving information
and it can completely overwrite any existing data on the card.
This will only happen if the screen turns black except for a series
of numbers and the message "Load/V-Ram/Run/Save".
