Product description: The 3DO Game Guru is a disc based program that enhances
the features of certain 3DO titles, and serves as an advanced
storage memory utility. The Game Guru allows files saved in the
3DO system's internal storage memory to be edited and patched.
This capability allows the game to be resumed with more lives,
ammunition, access to secret levels, more spells, money, and much
more depending on each game's features. The patches may be selected
from an internal code library, or may be entered manually. Additional
Game Guru codes were printed in various video game magazines in
1994-1995. Unfortunately, there is no longer any support for
the program.
The Game Guru can also copy, delete, move, rename, compress, and
uncompress saved game files. The Game Guru file manager is able
to automatically identify the cryptically titled saved gane files
from a variety of 3DO titles.
Compressing saved game files will free up more useable storage
memory. The amount of memory saved varies on the efficiency of
the compression, which changes from title to title. There are
two algorithms used to compress files. One algorithm is faster,
the other is more efficient in size reduction.
The Game Guru comes with more than 200 built-in codes for 39 3DO
titles, such as:
AD&D DeathKeep, AD&D Slayer, BladeForce, Crash 'N Burn,
The Daedalus Encounter, Escape from Monster Manor, Flying Nightmares,
GEX, Gridders, Guardian War, IceBreaker, Immercenary, Iron Angel
of the Apocalypse, Iron Angel of the Apocalypse: The Return, Jurassic
Park Interactive, MegaRace, Night Trap, Panzer General, Policenauts,
Quarantine, Return Fire, Road Rash, Scramble Cobra, Seal of the
Pharaoh, Shockwave: Invasion Earth 2019, Shockwave: Operation
Jumpgate, Space Hulk, Star Control 2, Syndicate, Wing Commander
III: Heart of the Tiger, and Wolfenstein 3D.
The Game Guru retailed for $29.95 new. The best place to find
one currently would be through the used game marketplace. A good
place to start would be the rec.games.video.3do Usenet newsgroup
or by searching the various online auction web sites.
