Gym tactics: First, try using Kyamome or a Water/Grass starter.
Then, try Water/Fire starter Grass at level 20 to 25. Finally,
try Sandshrew with lots of Ground attack.
Information in this section was contributed by Omar Field-Rahman.
If you chose Torchick as your first Pokemon, you will soon find
out that the first Gym Leader will be difficult without the proper
Pokemon. When you reach the first beach area (next to the forest
entrance), try to catch a Wingull. Then while in the forest, spend
some time to level it up and your Torchick. Get the Wingull to
at least level 10, and the Combuskin to about level 16 to 18.
You can now take out the three Geodudes the Leader has with the
Wingull's Water-Gun, and use the Combuskin as backup.
Information in this section was contributed by PHILIP SHACKLEY.
Defeating your Rival: When facing your rival at the start that has Treecko,
use a level 6 Wurmple; Mudkip use a level 7 Silccoon or Cascoon;
Torchic use a level 5 to 6 Wingull. Wingull can be found in Route
103. Wurmple can be found in Route103. To get Cascoon or Silccoon,
evolve Wurmple at level 7.

Defeating the Poochena to save the professor:
At the start of the game, when you have to battle the
Poochena to save the professor, use an attack such as Growl or
Tail-Whip repeatedly. You will not lose. Afterwards, your Pokemon
is very weak, and the wild Poochena will run away. This is a battle
that is impossible to lose.
Information in this section was contributed by bookworm642.
Defeating the first Aqua trainer: Start with Mudkip and raise it to level 10. Its moves
will be Tackle, Growl, Mud Slap, and Water Gun. The Aqua trainer
has a Poochyena at level 9. Use Water Gun and it will faint. You
will also get a lot of experience points.
Information in this section was contributed by Metaldriger.
Getting through Dewford Gym easily: Catch a Sableye or have one traded. Battle using only
it throughout the entire gym. Alternately if you picked Torchic,
keep Combusken from forgetting Peck, which is strong against Fighting
types.
Information in this section was contributed by Samuel Clifton.
Defeating the Elite Four: Get Kyogre to level 50 with Water Pulse, Ice Beam,
Hydro Pump, and Rest for moves. Have at least one other Pokemon
in your party (preferably Sceptile), and ten Revives and some
Full Restores.
Information in this section was contributed by Eric.
The first Elite will use Ghost type Pokemon. It is best to use
Dark type Pokemon to defeat him. The next Elite will use Dark-type
Pokemon. It is best to use Ghost type Pokemon to defeat him. The
next elite will be using an Ice type. It is best to use Fire types
to defeat her. The last elite will be using Dragon types. it is
best to use Ice types to defeat him. Then, it goes on to the champion
Steven. He uses all the types that the Elite Four uses. It is
best to use Dark, Ghost, Fire, and Ice types to defeat Champion
Steven.

You will need a variety of Pokemon when facing the Elite Four.
Information in this section was contributed by Eric Clemens.
Use the following Pokemon when facing the Elite Four. All Pokemon
should be at about level 50. Stock up with Hyper, Max, Super Potions,
and Revives.
Information in this section was contributed by MysticSDG.
The following Pokemon are recommended when facing the Elite Four:
Blaziken, Camerupt, Glalie, Groudon, Golem, Hariyama, Kyogre,
Magneton, Manectric, Ninetales, Regice, Swampert, Wailord, and
Walrein.
Take as many Leppa Berries as you can. They regain 10 PP to a
single move on one of your Pokemon.
Information in this section was contributed by dopher1.
When you fight the Elite Four, make sure to have a Pokemon with
an Amulet Coin held for each battle to double your earnings (which
are a lot).
Information in this section was contributed by Adam Lee.
Get a level 50 or higher Blaziken and teach it Blaze Kick , Double
Kick, or Rock Smash, Hyperbeam, and Overheat. Overheat can defeat
most Pokemon in Wallace's gym in Soopolis in one hit if it does
not use Double Kick. Hyperbeam (150) and Overheat (140) are the
strongest moves excluding Explosion, Self-Destruct, and the three
One Hit KOs. This way, you can defeat the Elite Four in about
five to ten each and Steven in six to twelve. Get a Kyogre at
level 50 or higher that knows Icebeam, Hydropump, Bodyslam, and
Thunderbolt. Then, get a level 40 or higher Castform that knows
Thunderbolt, Icebeam, Flamethrower, and Hail. Get a level 40 or
higher Kecleon and teach it Slash, Psybeam, Faint Attack, and
Shadowball. Also, get a level 40 or higher Skarmory and have it
know Swift Fly, Steel Wing and something else. The last Pokemon
should be a Rock/Ground type or a Dragon. They should all be equipped
with good items such as Quick Claw, King's Rock, and Amulet Coin.
Carry at least ten Revives, Hyper Potions, Sodapops, Lemonade,
Full Heal, and Ethers/Elixir. Leppa Berries are good to equip
in-between battles.
Information in this section was contributed by JKingJr2.
Use a level 80 Crowbat, a level 70 Rayquaza (if traded), a level
60 Groudon or a level 60 Kyogre, a level 65 Registeel, a level
80 Salamence, a level 70 Rhydon, and a level 70 Golduck.
Information in this section was contributed by Gammer20031.
Get all your Pokemon to about level 60 and buy the following items:
35 Revives, 35 Full Heals (or Full Restores), 35 Max Potions (or
Full Restores), and 35 Max Elixirs.
Information in this section was contributed by pieter moonen.
The best Pokemon for the Elite Four are Mantrike at level 56,
Ninetails at level 54, Blazeiken at level 62, Groundon at level
59, Wailord at level 52, and Walrien at level 60.
Information in this section was contributed by game master.
You must have Psychic, Electric, Ground, Fire types; Rayquaza;
and another Pokemon. You must use all of them on the first battle,
mostly Fire. For the second battle, use Shadow Ball. For the third
battle, Electric type. For the fourth battle, use Rayqaza. For
the fifth battle, use all of them.
Information in this section was contributed by Roybrown34.
Try the following team:
Information in this section was contributed by Muhammad Ariff Bin What.
Have your starter with you. Do not use any legendary Pokemon.
Traded Pokemon work well because they will get extra experience.
If you go through the game raising your pokemon five levels before
the next gym, you will only have problems until your fourth badge.
Vary your types, and you will need a well-balanced team to win.
Try the following team: Medicham, Walrein, Magcargo, Sandslash,
Raichu, and Skarmory.
Information in this section was contributed by phil minogue.
Use a level 70 Rayquaza with Fly, Fire Blast, Blizzard, Thunder;
a level 60 Swampert with Surf, Mud Shot, Blizzard, and Dive. Use
Dive or Surf at the first two elites; Fire Blast and Thunder on
the third elite; Blizzard on the fourth elite; and Surf, Mud Shot,
Thunder, Blizzard on the champion.
Before starting, go through to compete in the Pokemon League.
Train your pokemon so that they are between level 45 and level
50. Next, buy fifteen Lava Cookies for 500 coins each from the
old lady by the cable car entrance (at the top, after you came
up). The Lava Cookies heal all the status problems and are cheaper
that full Heals. Next, go back to the Pokemon League place and
buy 25 Revives, 25 Max Potions, and 10 Sodas (at Lilycove from
the vending machines on the roof). Also, you may want to use these
items: -Focus Band, Hard Stone, Never Melt Ice, Charcoa, Quick
Claw, Miracle Seed, Incense-Sea, White Herb, , Leppa Berr, Persim
Berry, Aspear Berry, Rawst Berry, Pecha Berrym Chesto Berrym,
and a Cheri Berry. Always save the game after defeating each leader.
If you lose the next battle, you can turn off the game and keep
trying until you win. Each time you defeat a Pokemon, make sure
you choose a very effective Pokemon against the next type. After
every battle, restore all of your Pokemon to full health. With
the first Elite Four, use Flying against Grass. Use Fighting against
Dark. With the second Elite Four, do not use Normal, Fighting
or Rock as they have no effect. Use Fire and Water against Ghost.
For the third Elite Four, use Fire against Ice. Use Electric against
Water. For the fourth Elite Four, use Water against fire. For
the champion Steven, the Pokemon are varied; make sure you have
one of each type. Only use your Pokemon's most powerful moves.
Be careful; these Pokemon are at about Level 70. If you have Blaziken,
Combusken Torchic, or any Fire pokemon, use TM Overheat. This
move is incredibly powerful, but sharply lowers SP. Defense and
critical hits can wipe out a champion Pokemon in one move. The
PP is only 5, so use a PP Up. In battle, use Overheat. If your
Pokemon faints, then switch to another. Do not get the other Pokemon
to battle. Instead, on the first turn use a Revive on the Fire
Pokemon. On the next turn, use a Leppa Berry to restore the HP.
Then, bring out your Fire pokemon. Keep doing this routine until
all the Pokemon are defeated.

The following is a good team for the Elite 4 (during the first
time):
Information in this section was contributed by Brandon Nelson.
All of the Elite Four's Pokemon are female. Try to use female
Pokemon especially on ghost Pokemon (Sabeleye) because they know
Attract.
Information in this section was contributed by liam huffman.
In the beginning of the game, pick Mudkip. Do not catch any Pokemon
until you get to Mauville City. Spend all the money you get on
Zinc to increase your resistance to Mudkip/Marshtomp/Swampert's
weaknesses. Catch two Pokemon that you want and put them in the
Day Care. Take them out just before you fight the seventh gym.
Put them back when you complete it. By the time you complete the
eighth gym, you will have three strong Pokemon for the Elite Four.
Note: Make sure when you fight May/Brandon on the grass bridge
your Pokemon knows Bide to defeat Grovlye.
Information in this section was contributed by Wells Kenney.
A good team to beat the Elite Four with is:
Swampert (level 60)
Flygon (level 55)
Groudon/Kyogre (level 60)
Manectric (level 58)
Rayquaza (level at least 55)
Alakazam/Gardevoir (level 58)
This team will wipe out the entire E4. Swampert and Flygon will
defeat Sidney. Alakazam and Flygon (if it knows Crunch) will defeat
Phoebe. Manectric and Alakazam will defeat Glacia. Swampert will
defeat Drake. Swampert will defeat Steven. Use Kyogre/Groudon
and Rayquaza as backup. They can most likely KO any Pokemon.

First, get through Victory Road. Then, heal up at the Pokemon
Center. Check the levels of all the Pokemon in your party. Train
all Pokemon in your party up to level 50 or higher. Save the game
at the entrance that you use to get into the rooms to fight the
Elite Four when ready. The rest is purely up to skill and chance.
After you defeat an Elite Four member, save the game. If you lose
to the next member, turn off the game and go back to the saved
game after the last member was defeated. This will keep your prize
money in your pocket, and bring back any health restoration items
that you may have used.

Defeating Brawly: Try using a level 18 Ralts that knows Toxic, Psychic,
Confusion, and Double Team; and a level 19 Meditite that knows
Meditate, Toxic, Hidden Power, and Confusion
Information in this section was contributed by Tony V.
Defeating Flannery: Try using a level 27 Marshtomp that knows Mud-Slap,
Toxic, Water Gun, and Double Team; a level 27 Goldeen that knows
Toxic, Water Sport, Water Gun, and Rest; and a level 29 Surskit
that knows Bubblebeam, Toxic, Rain Dance, and Secret Power. That
should be able to cool Flannery down.
Information in this section was contributed by Tony V.
Try using a level 32 Pelipper that knows Water Gun, Wing Attack,
Swallow, and Stockpile.
Information in this section was contributed by Douglas Badgele.
Defeating Norman: Try using a level 29 Machoke that knows Toxic, Karate
Chop, Revenge, and Bulk Up; a level 31 Meditite that knows Detect,
Toxic, Brick Break, and Rock Tomb; and a level 32 Hariyama that
knows Toxic, Vital Throw, Double Team, and Dynamicpunch. This
team is a 99% chance of winning against Norman.
Information in this section was contributed by Tony V.
Defeating Pheobe: When battling the second Elite Four (Pheobe), do not
use Psychic Pokemon, because the Ghost Pokemon know Dark moves
which will immediately kill you, no matter what level you are.
Instead, use a very powerful Pokemon against him.
Information in this section was contributed by dueldevon.
Defeating the twins: When you battle the twins everywhere the second time,
you must have the levels lower than those Pokemon in order to
battle them.
Information in this section was contributed by Eevee Family Luver.
Defeating Wallace: Try using a level 41 Sceptile that knows Leaf Blade/Solarbeam,
Crunch, Toxic, and Sunny Day; a level 41 Magneton that knows Tri-Attack,
Thunder, Thunder Wave/Toxic, and Rain Dance; a level 43 Vileplume
that knows Razor Leaf/Mega Drain/Giga Drain, Sunny Day, Toxic/Stun
Spore, and Solarbeam; a level 44 Kyogre that knows Sheer Cold,
Thunder, Toxic, and Rain Dance; and a level 43 Breloom that knows
Leech Seed/Toxic, Mega Drain/Giga Drain, Solarbeam, and Sunny
Day. Those Pokemon and their moves are almost all strong against
Wallace's team.
Information in this section was contributed by Tony V.
Defeating Wattson: Wattson is the third gym leader. Start with Torchic,
Shroomish, Zigzagoon, Poochenna, Silcoon/Cascoon, and Wingull.
Train them evenly. Evolve Shroomish at level 23, then at level
25 it should have learned Mach Punch. When you reach Wattson,
put Combusken first then talk to him. You can either use Ember
or Double Kick, but when he faints use Bellom, Shroomish's evolved
stage, and keep using Mach Punch.
Information in this section was contributed by michael D.
When you get your first Pokeballs, catch a Nincada. Train the
Nincada to level 25, but do not let it evolve. Recommended moves
are Sand Attack, Leech Life, Fury Swipes, and any other move.
When you face Wattson, his electric moves will not effect you.
Information in this section was contributed by IcceDemon.
Wattson has a good deal of Electric type Pokemon. Use Earth types
at a level of 25 and higher. Teach them strong Earth attacks.
The best Pokemon you can use is a Numel or Sandshrew or their
evolved forms.
Information in this section was contributed by finalcrest995.
Try using a level 22 Numel that knows Protect, Magnitude, Flamethrower,
and Sunny Day; a level 22 Nincada that knows Leech Life, Toxic,
Sand-Attack, and Dig; and a level 25 Combusken that knows Double
Kick, Ember, Double Team, and Protect. This team will ground and
burn.
Information in this section was contributed by Tony V.
Defeating Winona: Try using a level 32 Manectric that knows Toxic, Thunder/Thunderbolt,
Rain Dance/Protect, and Secret Power; a level 31 Raichu that knows
Thunder, Rain Dance, Toxic, and Attract; a level 32 Blaziken that
knows Fire Blast/Blaze Kick, Toxic, Sky Uppercut, and Focus Energy;
and a level 34 Shelgon that knows Dragon Claw, Dragon Dance, Toxic,
and Double Team. This team is almost guaranteed to win against
Winona's Pokemon.
Information in this section was contributed by Tony V.
Use the following trick to defeat Winona, the Flying Pokemon Gym
Leader at Foretree City. You must have a Castform that is at least
level 30 and knows Powder Snow, Weather Ball, Thunderbolt and
Hail. You also need a strong fire type, but Torkoal is recommended
as it learns Flamethrower at level 30. Also if you taught it Overheat,
its special attack is high enough to still inflict major damage
after using it. Once you have these two Pokemon, you will almost
always defeat Winona. She will send out Swellow first. Make sure
Castform is your first Pokemon. Use Hail then Weather Ball to
make it Faint in one turn. She will most likely send out Pelliper
next. Use Thunderbolt to faint it in one turn. Then when she sends
out Skarmory, use your Fire type to faint it in one turn. Finally
when she uses Altaria, she will nearly always use Dragon Dance
first, and as it should still be hailing, use Castform and its
Weather Ball attack to inflict double damage on her Dragon/Flying-type
Pokemon. Note: This strategy only works if your Fire-type Pokemon
knows a strong fire move. If it only knows Ember, then Skarmory
will not faint in one turn, and the Hail will stop before you
get to use Weather Ball on Altaria. Therefore, use either Overheat
or Flamethrower.
Information in this section was contributed by Owen Batchelor.
Winning in the Pokemon League: When going to the Pokemon League, use only Blaziken
with Slash, Blaze Kick, Sky Upper Cut, and Double Kick; and a
Kyogre with Sheer Cold, Surf, Water Fall, and Hydro Pump. With
the first opponent, use blazikBen and its Blaze Kick. On the second
opponent, use Kyogre with all Hydro Pumps and one Water Fall (in
that order). On the next opponent, use Blaziken with Sky Upper
Cut. On the next opponent, use Kyogre and its Water Fall (all
or any number, but save Surf). On the next opponent (the champion),
use Kyogre and its Surf. Once you defeat it, train your Pokemon
with Experience Share. Use Amulet Coin to gain more money.
Information in this section was contributed by Zach the Pokemoniac.
Use the following group for the Pokemon League:
Information in this section was contributed by Michael Werner.
Dusclops (any opponent or the champion)
Crobat (third and fourth opponent)
Claydol (third and fourth opponent)
Groudon (third and fourth opponent and champion)
Blaziken (first, third, and fourth opponent and champion)
Raquaza at least at level 50.
The best thing to use in the Pokemon league is a Grass type.
Information in this section was contributed by THOMAS HART.
Experience and money obtained in the Pokemon
League in Pokemon Sapphire: Information in this section was contributed
by Los Carlos and Pokemon fan 4 ever.
Winning in the BattleTower: Use Rayquaza, Kyogre, and Groudon or the following
Pokemon at least at level 70. Use the Pokemon you started with.
Information in this section was contributed by JKingJr2.
Blaziken: Slash, Blazekick,Skyuppercut, Overheat or Earthquake
Swampert: Earthquake, Icebeam, Surf, and a good normal move
Sceptile: Bodyslam, Sunnyday, Solarbeam, Toxic
Latias or Latios: Dragonbreath, Mistball/Lusterpurge, or Psychic,
Thunderbolt, and Icebeam
Castform: Weatherball, Sunnyday, Raindance, and Hail
Easy Tough Contest wins: Catch a Mawile in the wild, or have one traded from
another version. Train it. At level 41, Mawile will want to learn
Iron Defense. Teach it Iron Defense. At level 46, Mawile will
want to learn Stockpile, Swallow, and Spit Up. Teach it all three
of those moves without making it forget Iron Defense. Then, max
out its Tough condition. After that, go to the chairman of the
Pokemon Fan Club with your Mawile in the lead. If you maxed out
its Tough condition, he should give you a Yellow Scarf. Give it
to Mawile. Then, take part in a Tough Contest. Have Mawile do
moves in the following order: Stockpile, Swallow, Stockpile, Spit
Up, Iron Defense. If you follow these steps exactly, you will
win even the Master Rank contests without much of a problem.
Information in this section was contributed by Samuel Clifton.
Hint: Easy wins: This trick requires a Shedinja, a Pokemon that knows
Skill Swap, and a Ghost-Dark hybrid, and can only be used in a
double battle. Enter the Shedinja and the Pokemon that knows Skill
swap into battle first. Have the Pokemon that knows Skill swap
use it on Shedinja. Then, switch Shedinja out with your Ghost-Dark
hybrid, and have the Pokemon who knows Skill Swap use it on your
Ghost-Dark hybrid. Because no move can deal Super Effective damage
to a Ghost-Dark hybrid, using this trick to swap Shedinja's Wonderguard
over to one will make it completely invincible. However, even
with Wonderguard, the Ghost-Dark hybrid will only be invulnerable
to attacks. This means that special conditions, recoil, etc. will
still do damage to it.
Information in this section was contributed by Samuel Clifton.
Catch a Groudon. Teach it Solerbeam (train to level 65 or use
TM). Make Groudon the first Pokemon in your party. When he comes
out, his Drought effect will activate. With Drought you can use
Solarbeam without waiting a turn.
Information in this section was contributed by Chris Shores.
Avoid battles: To avoid trainer battles, stay out of their sight.
Some trainers will follow your movements. To avoid them, walk
slowly and pass through them. If you run, they will quickly turn
to you and battle.

Use this trick to avoid land battles at places where you can ride
your bike. On the Acro Bike, jump sideways not looking at the
trainer.

If you fighting a wild Pokemon, such as a Trapinch and try to
run, the "Wild Trapinch's Arena Trap makes it impossible
to escape" message may appear. Normally, the running part
takes up your turn, but if you press B quickly as the message
appears you will be returned to the battle menu.
Information in this section was contributed by Inggridwibowo.
More trainer battles: Use the following trick if there is a certain trainer
that you wish to battle repeatedly. Note: This only works for
trainers who are on Routes that can be faced again (for example,
Lady Cindy on Route 104). Go to the nearest route/town/city to
the trainer. Move back and forth for about twenty to thirty seconds
from route to route (for example, between Route 104 and Rustboro).
Then, talk to the person that you wish to battle and they may
want to fight again. Note: If this does not work, try going from
route to route/town/city for more than thirty seconds.
Information in this section was contributed by pina_briganti_16.
If you defeat Gabby and Ty a lot of times, they will stop moving
and remain in one place. You can still battle them as often as
desired. This is much more effective than winning the Poke-League,
if one of the Pokemon you are using has an Amulet Coin and the
other one an Exp. Share.

Elite Four Pokemon: The Elite Four have the following Pokemon (not in any
order).
Information in this section was contributed by Jespo15.
After defeating Steven, you will also be Pokemon League Champion.
Weakening Pokemon: Do not use Endeavor. Instead, use False Swipe. Many
Pokemon learn this attack. It can never KO a Pokemon, and lowers
the enemy to 1 HP as long as the attack is strong enough. It works
well against rare Pokemon.
Information in this section was contributed by ender.
View your HP: During a 2-on-2 battle, press Start to see exactly
how much HP you have instead of only a color meter.
Information in this section was contributed by snowfie.
Avoid Brawly: If you have reached Dewford and battled everyone you
can but cannot defeat Brawly, go through the Granite Cave and
give the letter to Steven. It is possible to get through without
Flash. Once you leave the cave, talk to Mr. Briney. He will now
take you to Slateport. You can now train your Pokemon at Slateport
and continue in the game without battling Brawly. If you do not
have a Pokemon that is effective against Fighting types, catch
a Zubat in the Granite Cave. Then get it to level 21 and have
it learn Wing Attack. It is very effective against Brawly's Pokemon.
