Use Sonic and defeat the first Boss to unlock Cream. Cream is extremely useful when facing Bosses because her Chao will attack it when you press B button. This makes it especially easy to defeat Bosses that are hard to hit, such as the fourth, sixth, and eighth.

Play as Tails:
Successfully complete the Music Plant level as Sonic.

Tails follows Sonic:
Enter the character selection screen. Highlight Sonic then press Up. Highlight Tails then press Down. Highlight Knuckles then press L. Highlight Amy then press R. Then select Sonic as your character. Tails will now follow Sonic around.

Successfully complete the game with all seven Chaos Emeralds as any character.

Hint: Speed boost:
At the start of any non-Boss level, you can get an extra boost of speed out of the start gate. Quickly hold Right just before the counter says "START!". This may require a few attempts to get the correct timing.

Use the following for a speed boost on Sky Canon. Choose any character that is fast. Select the Sky Canon Act 2 stage. Once you find a fan that blows you to get more speed, go back near the fan. Wait a few seconds and their speed will increase. After this process, turn around. This is useful with Tails because he starts by walking, then jogging, and finally flying.

When you reach to a red spring ramp, press A just before you jump off. Your character's speed will rapidly increase. You will fly higher and farther than normal.

Hint: Secret move:
Go to any level with Sonic or Amy. Find a grind rail and grind on it. Just as you reach the end of it, jump. Sonic or Amy will do a secret somersault move, and fly farther and higher than usual. This only works on rails that end in midair.

Hint: Go higher and farther off a red ramp:
When you get to a red ramp in the level 1, you can get farther and higher. When your about to jump on it, press A when about to jump. This only can be done on level 1.

Hint: Cheese gets rings:
When playing as Cream the Rabbit, you can use Cheese (her Chao) for more than attacking enemies. You can also call Cheese to snag Special Rings.

Hint: Defeating Cream's final Boss:
Stand in between the first and second platforms and use Cheese (her Chao) to attack Eggman's machine. Be careful of its right hand -- it is the only weapon that can reach you. Once you destroy the right hand, Eggman can no longer attack you. Destroy the left hand. Once you have destroyed both hands Eggman can only use his laser. Stay on the ground and keep using Cheese to destroy his head.

Hint: Defeating Tails' final Boss:
On the huge machine at the end of the final level, use Tails' propellers to hit his head. Note: You need to hit him with the propellers precisely.

On the last level with Tails, get on a platform begin to spin. A little before you touch the spikes, let go and Tails will hit the robots head and come back. Repeat this until you win.

Hint: Defeating Robotnik:
While fighting the Boss in Egg Utopia, wait until he (Robotnik) starts dropping bombs at you, then press Up. You will be standing on the ceiling. Press Down to go back to the floor. Be careful, as he can still hit you. Note: This also works at the Final Zone (XX).

Hint: Cream: Cream and Cheese chuck:
Run at full speed and press B. Occasionally, Creme and Cheese may grab hands, giggle, then attack together.

Punch the Boss then quickly press Up or Down. Knuckles should be practicing punching or ducking.

Hint: Knuckles: Rocket Punch:
Get one of the containers that gives you high speed. While you are running, press Left, then press B continuously while holding Left. You will go very fast and do the Rocket Punch.

Hint: Sonic: Somersault attack:
To do a somersault attack at the Boss, quickly press Up or Down. Sonic should be stretching or ducking.

Hint: Sonic: Saturn Spin:
Get one of the containers that contain a green or blue barrier. Then when in midair, press R. You will look like the planet Saturn.

Hint: Tails: Tornado:
Get to an area where you can easily descend. Before you hit the ground, keep pressing B. You will continuously twirl your tails and spin like a tornado.

Glitch: Blurry/double characters:
This glitch works for Knuckles, Tails, and Cream. Go to a Boss with one of those characters and fly or glide to the left side of the screen. They will be blurry and you will see doubles of them. Also, if you are Cream and she gets tired while flying, when Cheese tries to pull her up there will be two Cheeses.

Glitch: Spin dash in a Boss fight:
Note: This can only be done with Knuckles. During any Boss fight (except the final Boss), glide. Hold A and Knuckles should go into somewhat of a penguin belly slide. While still holding A, hold Down. Release A and Knuckles should duck. Then, press A and release as usual.
