At the title screen where you choose to play the original Mario Bros. or Super Mario Bros. 3, keep switching the game highlighted continuously. Eventually on the top choice, Mario will appear with a turtle shell and on the bottom Luigi will pop out.
Information in this section was contributed by MagnumMan415.

At the title screen where you choose to play the original Mario Bros. or Super Mario Bros, keep pressing Up then Down as fast as possible. It will look like the Mario standing near the Super Mario Bros. 3 sign is jogging.
Information in this section was contributed by Dylan Gleit.

Level select:
Successfully complete the game (you can just use a warp whistle to get to World 8). You can now select any World you want to go to at anytime. If you complete all of the levels (including Hammer Bros., Toadstool Houses, and the casino-type game), you can play any level as many times as desired. This includes the Hammer Bros., the Toadstool Houses, the casino things, and even the fortresses and castles.

Hint: Extra lives:
Start a new game, playing as both Mario and Luigi. Steal (exchange) all of Luigi's lives that you can (four). Pause game play, then select "Save & Quit". Reload that same game, playing as only Mario. He will now have nine lives, and Luigi will not be around. Note: You can execute this trick at any point in the game if you need a few extra lives.
Information in this section was contributed by A Intelligent Gamer.

After you complete the game, go to the slot game. It will be pink and have a heart in it. Get a match and the symbol will change color. A new symbol will appear. Go into it and get one more match. Go back into the slot game and you will see that all the symbols are the same. The order of the grand prizes in lives are 5, 7, and 10 lives. The freebie is random.

Play as Mario and Luigi. Send all the lives to Luigi. Save the game and play only as Mario with one life. Intentionally die. When you die, select "Continue" at the game over screen. You will get five lives. Go to Mario and Luigi. Notice that Luigi has the extra lives and Mario has 5. Repeat this for unlimited lives.

Hint: Cape:
Available only through an e-Reader, the Cape allows Mario or Luigi to fly indefinitely, as long as you continuously press Left to stay in the air.
Information in this section was contributed by Glower333.

Hint: Shadow:
On the title screen after you select the Super Mario Bros. 3 game, look at the 3's shadow. It has a tail and an ear like Mario when he has the raccoon power.
Information in this section was contributed by JLite.

Hint: Special stars:
When you chose either Mario Advance or Classic, there will be stars over the Mario brothers part that are equal to how many millions of points your high score is. For example, a high score of 2,163,170 will have two stars.

An easier way to get star players such as Mario or Yoshi, is to defeat these players in Quick Game mode, which can be accessed at the start of the game in the main menu next to the "Story Mode" option.

Hint: Match Game:
The Match Game will appear every time you earn a multiple of 80,000 points. (80,000, 160,000, 240,000, etc.). This a mini-game in which you have to match two of the same cards.
Information in this section was contributed by DiabloNeonX and Trashman2036.

Hint: Coin ship:
Use the following trick to make a coin ship appear on the map. End any level with both the coin and the last two numbers of the point total equal to any multiple of 11. The time also has to stop on an even number. For example, 55 coins and 009844 points. The coin ship is a ship full of coins and an extra life.
Information in this section was contributed by Trashman2036.

To make a coin ship appear, use a music box when two Hammer Bros. are on your screen and are reachable. Once they are asleep, play and complete any level. One of the Hammer Bros. should have turned into a coin ship.
Information in this section was contributed by Chuck Murphy.

Hint: Flutes:
A Flute can be found in World 1-3. Hop on the white block toward the end of the level and hold Down on the block for six seconds. Mario will drop down. Finish the level and you will be sent to a chest room containing a Flute.
Information in this section was contributed by Travis Ragle.

On the very first fortress that you encounter, you have to skip across some lava. After the lava, there is a block with a Feather in it, and one of those skeletons that cannot be defeated. Squash the skeleton quickly with the Raccoon Suit on, then get your "P" all the way up so that you can fly. Fly up the right wall and you land on top. Go right until you cannot go further. Then, press Up as you would when opening a door. Inside there is a Flute that Toad gives you. You do not have to face Boom Boom.
Information in this section was contributed by Josh C.

There is a Flute in World 2. Use the hammer you get from the Hammer Bros. on the rock in the top right corner. On the next screen, you will find a Fire Bros. Defeat it for a Flute.
Information in this section was contributed by Jesse Kopelman.

The Flutes transport you to certain places, depending on what world you are in. If you are in World 1, it will transport you to the 2, 3, and 4 line. If you are in World 3 or 4, it will transport you to the 5 ,6, and 7 line. If you are in World 7, you can go to the bottom line that leads to World 8. World 2 is always random. If you use two flutes one after the other, you will automatically go to World 8. Note: Sometimes this may not be the exact method for when a flute is used, but 90% of the time it will be this way.
Information in this section was contributed by blinzer555.

Use the following trick to get from the start of the game to World 8 in about ten minutes. Start a new file. Play it until you reach the first castle of World 1. Go through the first room until you reach the end, a part with a door and a dead Koopa that gets up about ten seconds after you kill it. Note: You must be Raccoon Mario here. Fly upwards until you cannot be seen anymore, then fly right until the screen moves, implying that you are on some sort of platform. Walk to the right until the screen stops moving and press Up. You will drop down into a room that is completely empty except for a ball with a "?". Touch the ball and you will receive a Flute. Do not use it yet. Finish World 1, then complete enough of World 2 so that you have the hammer and can access the wall of rocks in the northeast. Use the hammer on the rock. It will break, allowing you to take a secret path. Get the Frog suit in the Toad house. Defeat the Fire Bros. to get another flute. Use the first one and go to World 5, 6,or 7. Then, use the second Flute and you will go to World 8.
Information in this section was contributed by John Davis.

Hint: Last World:
Get the two Whistles found in World 1-3. Use the first one to get to World 7, then use the other Whistle to warp to World 8.
Information in this section was contributed by Michael.

Hint: World 1: Get prize without fighting Boss:
Get to the end part of the castle next to the matching game, where there is a skeleton monster and you are Raccoon-Mario. Go to the door and turn around so that your facing to the left. Run (hold B) down to the end of the platform that you are standing on, and your speedometer at the bottom of your screen is all the way up. Then, fly up to the top of the building and go all the way to the right. You will drop down into a room and will get a box with a prize without having to battle the Boss.
Information in this section was contributed by BeatMaster924.

Hint: World 1: Flute:
When you are in the fortress level, fly up where you passed the lava part. You will be walking without Mario looking up. Run until you got to a secret area. There will be a treasure chest that contains flute. The flute is used to warp to worlds that you cannot pass.
Information in this section was contributed by Jacobo.

The first flute is in World 1-3. Just before the black curtain, you will see two green blocks, one red block, a blue block ,and a white block. Jump on the Koopa on the white block and hold Down for five to nine seconds. Mario will drop down. Hold B and run to the right until you are behind the curtain. You will be teleported to a toad house and get the flute.
Information in this section was contributed by elbel.

The second flute is in the World 1 at the first mini castle. Get the first mushroom, then go to the next mushroom without getting hit. Then, run back and get full P-wing. Fly up into the open area in the sky until you cannot see yourself. Then, run to the right until you cannot go further. Press Up as if you are opening a door, then collect your prize.
Information in this section was contributed by elbel.

The third and final flute is in level 2. Defeat the Boomarang Bro. with the hammer. Then, go to the top right corner and use it. It will open a passage to some Fire Bros. Defeat them to get the flute. The easiest way is by using a Star.
Information in this section was contributed by elbel.

When you have two flutes on World 1 use the first flute to warp yourself into the warping zone. When you get there, use the second flute to automatically take you to the World 8.
Information in this section was contributed by GlitchfinderX2.

Hint: World 1-1: Extra life:
At the first gap, hop around in the bush nearby to find a 1-Up.
Information in this section was contributed by Sonic9jct.

Hint: World 1-1: Shortcut:
Become Raccoon Mario. Go to where you must kill the two mushroom enemies and the winged mushroom. Kill them. Get your "P" gauge at the bottom of the screen all the way up. Fly northeast and you will reach a cloud bridge.
Information in this section was contributed by Hunter Bryant.

Hint: World 1-2: Extra life:
Go to the three platforms of coins and turn them into blocks. To do this, get a Raccoon suit, go to the blocks under the pipe, and whip your tail around. A button will appear. Jump on it. You will have be quick and jump on the three platforms. When you get to the top platform, wait for the fire-spitting platform to go back into the pipe. When it does, jump on the pipe. Jump around on the pipe until you hit an invisible box and an extra life will appear. Jump (or run) into it to collect it.
Information in this section was contributed by Pips.

With a Raccoon Tail, go past the first pipe. Jump on the mushrooms and slowly go down. Repeat this to get points and lives.

Note: You need to enter the level with Super Mario or Raccoon Mario. This trick requires Raccoon Mario to work. After the two "?" blocks in World 1-2, there should be a horizontal pipe. Goombas come out of it three at a time. A little further left is a dark brown winged Goomba. Lead it over to the pipe and continue to stomp on Goombas, using the Raccoon tail to slow your descent and continue collecting up the 1-ups. You can continue this as often as desired, time permitting.
Information in this section was contributed by Michael Parker.

Hint: World 1-2: Warp:
Towards the end of the level you will see some platforms going up. Jump onto the line of bricks which is next to it. Then, jump onto the other platforms. When they go up, let yourself go to the top. You will see another line of bricks. Jump onto that and run down it. You will be able to skip all the other levels in World 1 and can go to any world up to World 4.
Information in this section was contributed by CRBoulden.

Hint: World 1-3: Coins:
Defeat the first boomerang thrower and keep going. You will reach a group of stacked bricks. There will be a turtle on top of them. Jump on it and kick it to the left. After it hits a group of bricks, go down and jump around for a little while. You will hit a hidden orange jump block. Jump on it and you will go to a secret coin area.
Information in this section was contributed by Eric Sunset.

Have a Raccoon Tail or P-Wing. Hit the turtle on the set of blocks after the music blocks. Hit it back to break the blocks. Jump on the right edge of the six blocks. There will be an orange music block. Jump on that to go into the clouds. When in the clouds, get your P-Meter up. After the third set of coins, go up. There will be a ring of coins around a block with an extra life.

Hint: World 1-5: Coins:
After the first pool, go past the flower coming down and take the top path. When it goes straight up, jump on the left wall. An orange music block will appear. Jump on that to fly up and get hidden coins.

Hint: World 1-5: Extra life:
With a P-Wing or Raccoon Tail, take the top after the first pool and hit the orange block. When in the clouds, get your P-Meter up. After the third set of coins, go up. There will be a ring of coins around a block with an extra life.

Hint: World 2-4: Easy completion:
Get the Raccoon Suit, then get your "P" all the way up and fly to the upper left hand corner. You will se a brick there. Smash that brick and all of the other ones above it until you get to a hidden area. When you get to the bricks over the water, start smashing the ones on the right first, because there is one of those P buttons that changes coins to bricks and vice-versa. At the end, when you are going to fall, make sure you jump on the last music note block; it has a leaf in it. When you get to the ground, you will be at the end of the level.

Hint: World 2-3: P-Switch:
With a Raccoon Tail or P-Wing, fill your meter and go high above the third giant-blocked pyramid. There will be three blocks with two blocks above them. Hit the upper left block and a P-Switch will appear (with two conveniently placed block pyramids below and to the right).
Information in this section was contributed by Spitfirepunk1.

Hint: World 2-3: Hidden coins:
Three spaces up and two spaces left of the topmost block on the second small-blocked pyramid is a hidden note block. One spot left and three spaces up is a hidden coin block. Above that and to the right is a platform with hidden coins.
Information in this section was contributed by Spitfirepunk1.

Hint: World 2-3: Leaf:
This trick can be done in World 2-3 and the quicksand level after it. Go to Toad's house and get a leaf. Then, defeat the Boomerang enemy. Go to World 2-3 and use a mushroom before starting. Wait until the Fireball enemy passes by and break the blocks on the pyramid. Get the leaf and complete the level. You will now have a leaf for harder levels, and have completed World 2-3 and unlocked the Quicksand level. Prepare for another game of Toad's house after the Quicksand level.

Information in this section was contributed by Phyeken.

Hint: World 3-5: Easy coins:
Enter the level with a P-wing. Fly to the brown boxes. There will be a gold box that you can break with your tail. There will be coins inside. There is another tower like this shortly after the first one. Once you go through the pipe at the end of the level, stand on top of the third gray box and jump up. There will be a green mushroom here.
Information in this section was contributed by Dana Umbrio.

Hint: World 3-9: Unlimited lives:
Jump on a turtle and keep the shell. Go to the second Bill Blaster. Shoot the shell in front of it and quickly jump up in the chanter of the second and third. If done correctly, the shell will be stuck is the middle of two Bill Blasters and hit the missiles.
Information in this section was contributed by Elio.

Hint: World 4: Unlimited P-Wings:
After completing the game, go to World 4. Face a Hammer Head Bro. Get the P-Wing in the chest box after you defeat it. Repeat this as many times as desired.
Information in this section was contributed by nick zincone.

Hint: World 4-4: Frog Mario only area:
Enter the level as Frog Mario and go straight down at the beginning. There is a pipe that shoots bubbles out with another pipe to the left. As Frog Mario, you can swim past the bubbles and into the pipe. Inside is an area with P-Switches and Coins.
Information in this section was contributed by Glower333.

Hint: World 5: Easy lives:
Use the following trick to get extra lives from cloud to ground in World 5. Once you are in Cloud World, go to the pipe. Make sure you have a Raccoon Tail or Bear Suit. Go down the pipe. When you see the other pipe below, go to the block furthest to your left and swing your tail. Instead of breaking the block it will turn into a 1-up. If you save and quit you will lose the life. Instead of doing that, go down the pipe and you will be on the ground. You must be skilled enough at the Spiral Castle to be able to make it through without getting hit. Play the Spiral Castle. Make you have a Mushroom. Get the Leaf in the beginning and complete the castle without losing it. You have now completed the castle and can save your progress up to this point when you get in the clouds. The game also now saved your life and you will be in the clouds again. Repeat this as many times as desired for more extra lives.
Information in this section was contributed by s.obrien and m.obrien.

Hint: World 5-1: Easy completion:
Get your "P" Wing meter all the way up at the beginning of the level. Fly up to a pipe and go in. When you come down the pipe, go to the bottom of the little maze thing. Duck, then fly up into the narrow straits of the maze. Do not get up until you are past every single strait. At the end of this, there will be a music box and the level will end.

Hint: World 5-1: Enter the inner area:
Enter the level as either P-Wing Mario or Raccoon Mario. Fly to the top of the beginning area and into the pipe. Go down and into the next pipe. You will be inside the area with some blocks to the right. There are four 1-Ups inside, and the rest are breakable. If you fly to the top and find the P-Switch, a "3" and "4" made out of the Blue P-Switch Coins will appear.
Information in this section was contributed by Glower333.

Hint: World 6-8: Extra life:
At the "H" formed out of blue bricks, get on the top of the right stack. Do this by grabbing a block and killing the flowers, then run back and jump. Three spaces up is a hidden life.

Hint: World 6-9: Frog Mario only area:
Enter the level as Frog Mario and enter the pipe. Once in the water, stick to the floor and go right. Avoid the Giant Cheep Cheep and you will see a pipe that would force you into the above path as any other Mario. Swim through the bubbles and into the pipe at the other end. Inside are some coins you can only get from the freefall and a giant "?" Block with three 1-Ups inside. After you get the 1-Ups, exit the area and complete the level as usual.
Information in this section was contributed by Glower333.

Hint: World 7: Unlimited coins and points:
Go into the fortress in World 7 and use a P-wing before entering. Enter the fortress and do not go any further. Take the stairs down to the lowest level of the area. Notice that near you are some blocks that have three layers instead of over five. Jump under the fourth one from the left and fly into all of them. The third one will make a P-Switch appear. Once you hit it, all the blocks will become coins. Go around wherever desired and get coins. Make sure you remember the time limit. Falling down without a P-Wing is not a problem, as there are some metal blocks underneath the blocks (that became coins). Remember to always make a passage from the bottom to where you end up after time has run out, or you will be stuck in the middle of nowhere. If you get the coin under the door you were supposed to enter, then that block will be gone, and you will be stuck unless you have the path to the bottom door. You will also notice a white door appearing that will lead you to two pipes. If you have the P-Wing, you should enter it. The first pipe brings you to a bonus room which has a Raccoon Suit. The other one will lead you to the part that goes to the place that you would have ended up anyway. After the time limit expires, enter the door at the bottom and do everything as if nothing happened until time runs out. Note: You can spare one life if you are getting thousands of coins in two minutes. The blocks will all be back, and you can do everything again one more time. Try going to the north east corner and making diagonals falling down fast (without flying down) so that you gain time and money. This also a very good way to get the coin ship and lives.
Information in this section was contributed by blinzer555.

Hint: World 7-2: Toad's House:
Before entering the level, wear a Frog Suit. Enter and go into a pipe into the water underground. Swim to the far left and grab the coins before hitting the P-Switch. Hit the switch and rapidly swim to get the rest of the coins that were blocks. If you are fast enough, you can get the required number of coins. This may require a few attempts.
Information in this section was contributed by Glower333.

Hint: World 8: Easier completion:
This World has many ships in it. You can swim under the ships instead of fighting the enemies. Complete the first ship then jump into the water and continue swimming under the next ships that arrive.
Information in this section was contributed by shelly.

On the World 8 water ship, just get the power up, jump into the water, and swim underneath the ships until the end. Note: You must jump out of the ship that is lowered into the water.
Information in this section was contributed by Jason.

Hint: World 8-1: Easy lives:
This trick requires a P-Raccoon Tail. First, fly past the pipes with piranhas coming out of them, then fly up the long pipe with the two bouncy boxes in the middle of it. Next, go down the pipe and hit the big box to get the three power-ups.
Information in this section was contributed by Tommy Frazier.

Hint: World 8 final castle: Extra life:
In the final castle, you can find a 1-Up mushroom at the beginning of the level where you first see the spinning fireballs (next to where the candle that follows you is placed). Go up all three fire balls. Just when you start getting down on the highest level from the left, and the right-most corner, you will find a hidden 1-Up mushroom.
Information in this section was contributed by shelly.

Hint: World-e: Blue Mushroom house:
In World-e, get 30 "A" Coins and the lock with disappear in front of the Blue Mushroom House. Inside is a Digging mini-game, based on the vases in the first Super Mario Advance. Information in this section was contributed by Glower333.

Jump on the Boom Boom, and as soon as it gets into a defensive position, jump again. Once it is in its defensive position again, jump again then get its question mark ball.
Information in this section was contributed by Jason.

In the last level, either use P-Wing and try to get Bowser to keep breaking bricks until he falls, or use the Hammer Suit or Fire Suit to defeat him.
Information in this section was contributed by lachelle scott.

Hint: Easy Toad House:
Have an e-Reader and scan the Orange Switch Card to have Fire Mario's Fireballs turn enemies into coins. Go through a Hidden House level (for example, 1-4, 2-2, 4-2). The coins from enemies count as regular coins.
Information in this section was contributed by Glower333.

Hint: Gold Shiny panels:
Get a perfect score in all Worlds and the panels "Shines?" will be gold.
Information in this section was contributed by Jamydanny.

Hint: Reusable power-ups:

Information in this section was contributed by Gammer20031.

Hint: Avoid losing lives:
If you fall and are about to die, pause game play. Select "Save and Quit". You can now continue at that level without losing a life.
Information in this section was contributed by Matt M.

Hint: Dancing Mario:
Get to the part where you select the game that you want to play. Highlight "Super Mario Bros 3". Mario should appear. Note: Sometimes it is Luigi. Then, highlight "Mario Bros". Next, highlight "Super Mario Bros 3". Do this repeatedly quickly and Mario will appear to be dancing.
Information in this section was contributed by timothy opitz.

Hint: Special message:
After completing the game, go back to any final castle of any world other than World 8. Before entering the castle, put on either a Tanooki (Raccoon), Frog, or Hammer Suit. Complete the current ship and you will get a special message depending on what you are wearing.
Information in this section was contributed by D.C..

Glitch: Brothers switched:
In "Mario & Luigi" mode, go to World 5. You can do this glitch with either Mario or Luigi, but for this example Mario will be used. Make sure that Mario is up in the clouds. With Mario, go into the pipe that leads to the ground, and hold Right when the level starts. He will fall down and die. Once he dies and you are with Luigi, press Select and choose "View Now" to watch your replay. Notice how it reads "Mario Start", and that Mario is red. However if you look closely at him, you will notice that he looks like Luigi. In the status bar, it will show Luigi's stats. Also, when he dies, he will say "Mama-mia" in Luigi's voice. After the replay, Luigi is where Mario was (at the pipe to the ground). Furthermore, the status bar is gone. Press L. Instead of the inventory appearing, the status bar will fall down repeatedly. None of the buttons work. Wait for the inventory to appear after the bar falls 128 times, or reset/turn off the Game Boy Advance. Note: This was done with a this with a 100% complete saved game file.
