Fixing games that no longer save: After awhile, many games for the Game Boy Color stop
saving. This is because the internal battery inside the game has
died, and therefore the game no longer can save. Use the following
steps to fix the problem. [Screenshot 1][Screenshot 2]
Information in this section was contributed by Erminie1st.
1. Use tweezers or something similar to carefully open the plastic
casing of the game.
2. Find the battery.
3. There will be a metal strip over the battery and it will be
spot soldered on. Use the tweezers to separate the strip from
the game. Be extremely careful not to break the streps.
4. There will be another metal strip facing the other direction
attached to the bottom. Also separate that strip.
5. Remove the battery and take it to a store that sells similar
products. Purchase a matching battery.
6. Place the new battery in the location between the two metal
strips. Press the strips on tight.
7. Because the strips may be bent slightly, you may need to place
something small on top of the completed battery setup so that
it will be wedged between the battery and the outer cartridge.
8. Place the outer case back onto the game and snap it back into
place.
9. Tape the game shut to make sure both halves of the cartridge
do not separate.
10. Check if it works. You may have the battery positioned backwards,
so you may need to open the case to correct it.
