1. Downtime notice - Oct. 17, 2017

Well, it's a permanent downtime. After 22 years of service it's time for a final goodbye. Our live production servers will be taken offline on October 17th. The simple fact is that there are plenty of better ways to get the secrets hidden in games and connect with other gamers. There are plenty of Youtube channels and Twitch streams that will show games played at their best, something that plain text and screenshots can't convey. If you want to connect to other gamers outside of those services, there are plenty of Discord servers that offer a direct and engaging community experience.

Please visit our friends at GameFAQs.com or IGN.com for information such as codes, guides, reviews, etc. They're the real deal and have always been respectful and honest about how they operate. Our ghost pages can be found on Archive.org for those times that you'd like to take a look back at how things were.

Thanks to everyone that has contributed content and time managing our community, and especially to you, our dear visitors!

I decided to buy on Ebay Phantasy Star 2 Japanese version. Will I play it? No because I don't read Japanese nor do I have a Japanese Genesis. I own it in digital form and I'm on the look out for a complete version of the American version for my collection, but for 8.50 after shipping, for it complete I thought it was a great idea and I think it looks pretty awesome too

So does anyone collect games from outsider their region? I might start, I've seen some good deals on rare RPG's in their Japanese form...might be cool to own the Japanese version, which Japanese + digital version on some of these are cheaper than the American version.

Don't know if I'd be interested in PAL games, perhaps if I got an outlet converter over here, there are some games over there that didn't come stateside....like Terranigma, though the game isn't super cheap on Ebay for the PAL versions

I frequently collect Japanese games for the Saturn, and have thought about starting buying for the Dreamcast, too. Doesn't really matter if you can read or understand the language in most cases, since the games are pretty straight-forward. They're still great fun to play!

Personally, I'm looking for a copy of Super Tempo for the Saturn, but I just can't find one for a decent price (preferably less than 3 figures would be nice...). Imports can get quite pricey!

Interesting game, never heard of it...I'm more interested in importing RPGs, so would be much harder to plan than say a platformer like Super Tempo

I have a few Japanese games lying around mainly on the PSP and DS but also some Megadrive games too. I plan to make this collection a little bit bigger when I visit Japan next year.

I really don't as a matter of course. The only exception to that rule is import games that don't exist in the UK (of which there are a fair number), or special editions that don't exist in the UK.

I don't necessarily go out of my way for them though. The only two that are on my wish list are Chrono Trigger and Earthbound, which I would like to have in my SNES collection. I do own a universal adapter for the SNES, and have a couple of import games from back when I was younger and my parents would buy me SNES games on our holidays to the US (I bought Final Fight at Babbages in the Florida Mall; stick that in your retro pipe). I also have a Freeloader for the Gamecube, but the only NTSC game I have is Resident Evil 4, which came in a bundle that also included a PAL version. So yeah, not big on importing all things considered.
