1. Downtime notice - Oct. 17, 2017

Well, it's a permanent downtime. After 22 years of service it's time for a final goodbye. Our live production servers will be taken offline on October 17th. The simple fact is that there are plenty of better ways to get the secrets hidden in games and connect with other gamers. There are plenty of Youtube channels and Twitch streams that will show games played at their best, something that plain text and screenshots can't convey. If you want to connect to other gamers outside of those services, there are plenty of Discord servers that offer a direct and engaging community experience.

Please visit our friends at GameFAQs.com or IGN.com for information such as codes, guides, reviews, etc. They're the real deal and have always been respectful and honest about how they operate. Our ghost pages can be found on Archive.org for those times that you'd like to take a look back at how things were.

Thanks to everyone that has contributed content and time managing our community, and especially to you, our dear visitors!

Our last words: "Up ,Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, A, B, Select, Start"

    Hey all,

In an attempt to streamline things somewhat, we've changed the (game related) forum listing a bit. The first thing you're likely to notice is that we've separated the more generalized forums from the focused game forums. I know it's somewhat of a radical departure from the listing we've gotten used to over the past couple of years, but hopefully this change will spur on some new activity and bring a focus back to the gaming sections of the GW forums.

Here's a breakdown of the new forum listing (only the changes):

    • General Game Discussion
      • Gaming News and Industry Discussion
      • Video Game Bashing
      • Competitive & Co-Operative Gaming
      • Game Collecting (link)
      • General Game Help
    • Focused Game Discussion
      • Action
        • Assassin's Creed Series
        • Fighting Games
        • Grand Theft Auto Series
        • Legend of Zelda Series
        • Mario Series
        • Red Dead Redemption
        • Resident Evil
        • Sonic Series
      • Shooter
        • Battlefield Series
        • Borderlands
        • Call of Duty Series
        • Dead Space Series
        • Halo Series
      • Role-Playing
        • Elder Scrolls Series
        • Fable Series
        • Fallout Series
        • Final Fantasy Series
        • Kingdom Hearts Series
        • Mass Effect Series
        • Pokemon Series
        • RuneScape
      • Simulation
        • Football Games
        • Soccer Games (link)
        • Wrestling Games (link)
      • Music
        • Music and Rhythm Games
      • Other
        • Blizzard Games
        • Star Wars Series
        • Valve Games
    • Consoles & Technology
      • Console Combat
      • Computers
        • Apple
        • PC Gaming
        • PC Troubleshooting and Programming
      • Microsoft
        • Xbox 360
      • Nintendo
        • Wii
        • Nintendo DS Line
      • Sony
        • Playstation 2
        • Playstation 3
        • Playstation Handhelds
      • Past Generations
        • ...no changes...
      • Other
        • Smart Phones and Other Technology
        • GameShark, Action Replay, and Codebreaker

If anything seems too far out of place, let me know and I'll work to correct it, but this new listing should be easy enough to understand given a bit of time to adjust. The overall goal, of course, is to bring a bit more game related discussion back to the forums by highlighting some of the broader-focused forums without compromising the specific game forums.

Apologies to those who were affected by the forum outages, it seemed more appropriate to turn things off while these changes were taking place!

    Enjoy :)

I think it looks good. Hopefully this'll help. I just want to see GW active again, and I"m sure there's a lot of others who feel the same way.

That's much better. Even being here for a long time, it was still a little hard to find just where to find specific things considering how merged and squished some of these forums were.

I've haven't had a reason to check the game related forums in ages. :(

I have noticed that the SciFi forum has been put back in the TV forum, which always made sense to me.

It doesn't really, it didn't get through Experimental and the threads were split accordingly into their corresponding forums. Some went to Movies, others to the Voting Booth etc.

That said, try out the general forums, you may find something to talk about on there.
