1. Downtime notice - Oct. 17, 2017

Well, it's a permanent downtime. After 22 years of service it's time for a final goodbye. Our live production servers will be taken offline on October 17th. The simple fact is that there are plenty of better ways to get the secrets hidden in games and connect with other gamers. There are plenty of Youtube channels and Twitch streams that will show games played at their best, something that plain text and screenshots can't convey. If you want to connect to other gamers outside of those services, there are plenty of Discord servers that offer a direct and engaging community experience.

Please visit our friends at GameFAQs.com or IGN.com for information such as codes, guides, reviews, etc. They're the real deal and have always been respectful and honest about how they operate. Our ghost pages can be found on Archive.org for those times that you'd like to take a look back at how things were.

Thanks to everyone that has contributed content and time managing our community, and especially to you, our dear visitors!

On my phone I have WhatsApp (which still asks me every month to pay for and then extends my service by a month when I don't pay it), LINE and Viber. I also had Trillian on there to cover my standard PC IM options, but with the merger of MSN and Skype I had to have Skype open as well as Trillian, which my battery did not like at all and starting draining itself within a couple of standby hours.

I use an HTC Desire HD so I don't have BBM, and I assume there are no methods for non-BBM phones to access it, but what set of messengers programs would you recommend?

Most people that I know use WhatsApp. Everybody seemed to get it at around the same time and I'm a big fan of it. Mind you, I use it most for group conversations, rather than as an IM program. I rarely have "real time chats" with people like I would on MSN. It's usually just an alternative to texting.

I have different groups of people that use each as their main communication tool, so I'm trying to find a way to do it with as few apps as possible.

Yeah, I can understand that. I know you have an aversion to clutter.

My phone hates it more, battery life runs down and as it uses a lot of RAM the phone takes ages to switch between applications too.
