1. Downtime notice - Oct. 17, 2017

Well, it's a permanent downtime. After 22 years of service it's time for a final goodbye. Our live production servers will be taken offline on October 17th. The simple fact is that there are plenty of better ways to get the secrets hidden in games and connect with other gamers. There are plenty of Youtube channels and Twitch streams that will show games played at their best, something that plain text and screenshots can't convey. If you want to connect to other gamers outside of those services, there are plenty of Discord servers that offer a direct and engaging community experience.

Please visit our friends at GameFAQs.com or IGN.com for information such as codes, guides, reviews, etc. They're the real deal and have always been respectful and honest about how they operate. Our ghost pages can be found on Archive.org for those times that you'd like to take a look back at how things were.

Thanks to everyone that has contributed content and time managing our community, and especially to you, our dear visitors!

Finally did a second play through once I got all the DLC. I know this is my second thread on ME3, bu hte other one really only talked about the DLC

    • The ending isn't as bad as I remember. My gripe isn't that our choices come down to three things (I like the choices), it is that I want (need perhaps) a Metal Gear Solid type of ending that is 30-60minutes showing me all that happened. I want to know what happened to the planets, my friends, and the entire population. I want to hear my crew eulogize me, I want to see statues built, civilizations picking up the pieces., families reunited and those who died put to rest.

    • It has been awhile since I played ME1 &2, but I feel the colors were better in those games. In ME3 I felt like everything was bland and dull, like some ****ty instagram filter. Perhaps it has been too long, but I still remember areas in the first two games that were very colorful, but perhaps I'm just misremembering

    • The missions in ME3 didn't do much for me. I enjoyed each DLC, especially Citadel and Omega, I don't know if I just got tired after the first two games of doing similar things or the locations were no longer as new other than a few, but there was nothing quite as fun as the loyalty missions in ME2 or as fresh as the first game.

    • Limited Party Sizereally killed it for me. First game there were 6. In ME2 11 plus two from DLC. In ME3 back to 6 and one from day 1 DLC, just felt like a huge step back.

Overall ME3 is still a great game, gameplay wise probably the most refined (though feels too shooter), though I feel like ME2 was better balanced, ME3 story wise would me my least favorite. I'm not sure how easy it would be to go back and play ME1, but the story was awesome and you could still rock the Garrius and Wrex duo!

Bear in mind they improved the endings, but I wasn't too mad with the original ones. I didn't really expect them to make different endings for every single choice you made in the game, and I think there's still a meaningful difference between the choices.

The biggest problem with the ending is that it doesn't properly explain the origin or motivation of the Reapers in much detail. That wouldn't have been so bad, but it's all explained in greater detail in the Leviathan DLC. That stuff should have been in the base game.

My ideal blend would be ME2 with ME3's shooting. It's been a while, but I definitely remember being a little underwhelmed with ME3's quests and content compared to its predecessor.

I thought that ME3 felt more like an extended ending rather than a full game, if that makes any sense. You were in the middle of the ending for the entire game, meeting up with old friends, saying goodbye to them
    Mordin :(
    while playing the third installment.

Still doesn't excuse the ending, it still sucks to me. I feel that most game endings are underwhelming for the amount of time you invest in the games but this one was both short and explains nothing.

I think that ME3 had my favorite gameplay, though. The shooting and general movement felt the most fluid, but I hated those damn Banshee guys near the end of the game. The screams...

I think in terms of story, I liked the first one best, in terms of characters I go with the second (Mordin, Miranda, Thane) and gameplay goes to the third.

I don't think Extended cut added too much

I don't remember much about the Leviathan DLC, I did it when I started my new game plus a couple years ago, so I didn't replay it recently.

Totally makes sense, I just wish we could have seen the aftermath, the scenes of my allies celebrating, picking up the pieces, rebuilding, etc and of course a kick ass eulogy by Garrius and Wrex

The Reapers never needed an origin, they should have remained a force of nature that was meant to have been overcome by an eventual civilization. Every time I think about the ending more holes poke through and it makes me so disappointed. At some point I'll replay the series, probably when the games rerelease on PS4 & XBone (eventually) and I am curious about the Leviathan DLC that is supposed to be a pretty important. But man... that ending.

I would have liked to have known more about the Reapers' origin, perhaps in Mass Effect 4.

I don't even remember much about Leviathan DLC, so I might have to rerun through with my Renegade Female Sheppard

I thought that it set the atmosphere perfectly. Everything was going towards this huge final confrontation and then it was kinda "well, here we are".
