After emptying the moat in front of the castle, use the ramp to
walk down into it. Go under the bridge and press C-Up to
look up to see two yellow coins. Perform a wall kick to get both
the coins. Once you get both coins, an extra life mushroom will

coins. If you have collected all 120 stars, cannonball yourself
to the top and get the flying hat. Jump of the castle and fly
under the bridge to get the first coin. Swing around in order
to get the last coin. Then, pound ground to land so you can get
the extra life.

Thousand coin unlimited lives (Japanese
version):
During the first fight with Bowser, avoid him and collect
all the coins that appear. After a considerable amount of time,
you should be able to collect 1000 coins. At this point, a green
"M" will appear next to the number of lives remaining.
From this point on, when a life is lost, the number of lives increases.
The reverse is also true - gaining lives will actually lower the
number of lives remaining. The cheat will end if the number of
lives reaches zero, such as when Yoshi gives Mario 100 lives after
obtaining 120 stars. The North American version only allows 999
coins to be collected.

the same "hoohoo" as the second jump. He will jump as
high as a normal third jump and appear as if he is flying, with
his arms straight out. This works against enemies. Note: If you

look for three Goombas and a Koopa. Koopa will not appear if you
have not selected the right star before you actually entered the
level. Kill the Koopa and take the shell. Be careful not to hit
anything or you will lose it. The shell will not disappear until
you hit anything, so you can "surf" forever and can
jump with it. On the shell, carefully follow the path that goes
through the Bow-wows yard over the tipping bridge and jump over
the steps that lead to the field. Weave around the Bob-ombs and
dodge the water bombs. Go slowly through the metal bar gate and

Information in this section was contributed by XBizkit22.
Hint: Cool, Cool Mountain: Hidden land:
Go down the slide to where the snowman's head is located
and find Wrigglers (colorful teapot-like enemies). Jump on one
and you will be able to fly. Fly down and you will see land.
Information in this section was contributed by Marit Flowers.
Hint: Cool Cool Mountain: Shortcut:
At the part of the mountain that you have to use wall
kick, if you are having problems just try backflipping.
Information in this section was contributed by Jmrspd9.
Hint: DK's Jungle Parkway: Shortcut:
When you reach the cave exit, stop and look at the
side of the wall going into the cave. Try to drive into the wall.
You should go right through it and see "green" water.
Then, one of three things will happen:
Information in this section was contributed by LAWRENCE DEPAOLI.
1. You did not move fast enough and Lakitu will put you at the
cave exit, wasting time.
2. You moved too far to the right and will get placed by the river.
3. You moved fast and far enough to the left (right in Extra mode)
and get placed near the entrance of the cave. Continue through
the cave and you will get an entire lap for free. Note. It is
nearly impossible to get a "save ghost" to work.
Hint: Hazy Maze Cave: Control the beast:
Get on the beast's head and use the Analog-stick
to point in the direction that you wish Mario and the beast to
go.
Information in this section was contributed by SonikDark.
Hint: Hazy Maze: Alternate way to location:
Find the sealed entrance to Hazy Maze, where all the
red coins are located. There is a slope coming down and a little
gap underneath the grate. Go to the slope. Do a mid-air kick up
the slope by pressing A, then B. If you make a mistake,
you will fall back down.
Information in this section was contributed by Cooltom666.
Hint: Lethal Lava Land: Bully:
When cornered by a Bully, face the corner and press
Up + A to get out.
Information in this section was contributed by Calvinrizan.
When in a fight with a bully, you can either throw something at
them or run jump and press B.
Information in this section was contributed by Calvinrizan.
Hint: Lethal Lava Land: Extra lives:
There is a secret track in Lethal Lava Land. First
go to level 7-6 and grab the Koopa Shell. Go through the small
split between platforms and under the lifting bridge (that is
how you are supposed to get the coins from under it). Then, go
over a small slope, getting four coins and an extra life. When
you go down, go straight ahead and around a bend to get four coins
and an extra life. Keep going straight and jump at just the right
moment to land on the flame-throwing machine and getting the extra
life. Jump down, then go straight until you get to the platform
in the lava with the eye on it. This is where you circle it (picking
up the coins as you go along), until it disappears. Take the blue
coin. Go towards the next slope, just picking an extra life. After
that, go behind the platform that the first star appears (where
you first face the big bully). There will be an extra life behind
it. Get it and keep going straight until you come across the next
bend. You will get another extra life and keep going straight
until the third bend, where you pick up four coins. That is the
end of the track. If you want to do it again, just turn into the
lifting bridge again. Note: It is easier to control in "Mario
Cam" mode.
Information in this section was contributed by Scot Romijn.
Hint: Rainbow Ride: Get to maze faster:
When starting on Rainbow Ride, turn around to find
a pole. Do a long jump and get to the maze faster and the bomb
guy to that prepares the cannon for you.
Information in this section was contributed by Jesse Fontaine.
Hint: Rainbow Ride: Shortcut:
At the starting point of the level, turn around and
face the pole. Do a long jump (Z + A) at the pole
so that Mario grabs onto it. Climb up or down the pole to get
to where you need to go. By doing this, you will save yourself
the time and risk it takes to use the first carpet.
Information in this section was contributed by EllCoolKid1632.
Hint: Shifting Sand Land: Carry Mario's
hat in his hands:
Let the birdie steal your hat. Go onto a pillar and
wait for the birdie to appear. Whack him so that the hat falls
onto the pillar. Do not pick it up. Go to the palm tree near the
oasis and use the teleport somewhere in its shadow. Keep going
back and forth at least four times. Go to the hat and it should
have a small pile on top of it. Collect it and you should collect
the others. Now you should be holding Mario hat.
Information in this section was contributed by ThunderBlaze.
Hint: Shifting Sand Land: Find last Red
Coin:
At the start, instead of going to the area where the
flying cap is located, go the opposite way. Go to the very corner
to find the Red Coin.
Information in this section was contributed by Michaelwhitcomb.
Hint: Shifting Sand Land: Fat Mario:
Get on the pillar closest to the vulture. Jump off
towards the vulture. If done correctly the vulture will make "kwa"
sound and you will land on the sand and get stuck. While you are
stuck, the vulture will grab your hat and drop it immediately.
The hat will go through you and will make you look fat. Note:
This may require a few attempts.
Information in this section was contributed by JoeLovesNintendo.
Hint: Shocking Arrow Lifts: Easy Star:
On course 11 (Shocking Arrow Lifts), instead of actually
using the "arrow lifts", there is a warp on the ground.
There is a small pillar being circled by an electric ball. In
the indented corner is a warp that leads to the cannon. Once you
get to the cannon, find the ledge and jump down to it where there
is a yellow box. Break it open to reveal the Star.
Information in this section was contributed by michellemercer.
Hint: Snowman's Land: Carry Mario's hat
in his hands:
Allow the big snowman to blow Mario's hat off. Enter
the warp that is under a tree, and go back and forth through the
warps about three to five times. Return to where the hat was blown
off and pick it up. Mario will now be holding it in his hands.
Information in this section was contributed by M&W Watson.
Hint: Snowman's Land: Warp:
There is a broken bridge. If you go to the end of the
bridge in the center, an use the up camera button to look around.
You will warp to the bottom on another bridge. You can also use
the same method on the bridge on the bottom. You may have to try
a few times before it works.
Information in this section was contributed by Jperschon.
Hint: Snowy Mountain: Shortcut in penguin
race:
On the way through the penguin race you will see a
wall. About midway through that wall is a shortcut. When you reach
the wall, run into it about in the middle and you will enter a
small cavern. There are coins and an extra life in this cavern.
You will defeat the penguin, but he will claim that you cheated
so you must race him again to get the star.
Information in this section was contributed by Sporkster4.
Hint: Snow Summit: Free fall:
Jump off somewhere high and make Mario scream. If he
lands in the snow, his lower body will be covered in snow but
you will not lose any health.
Information in this section was contributed by Frederik Bak.
Hint: Tall Tall Mountain: Shortcut:
Go to the extra life, which is located to the left
of the start. Go against the wall and start walking against it
until you fall off. If done correctly, you will be surfing in
the wind and can go to any part of the mountain on that side if
you are careful.
Information in this section was contributed by mcafee53.
Hint: Tall Tall Mountain: Kill the monkey:
Get to the top of the mountain where you find the monkey.
Catch the monkey and walk down the mountain a short distance until
you find a ledge, then drop him off.
Information in this section was contributed by Arron Barragan.
Hint: Tall Tall Mountain: Breeze:
When you start, turn left. When you get to the edge,
turn right. You should see a Life Shroom at the very end. As if
the pathway continues, keep walking. If done correctly, you should
fly up with a gust of wind going upwards.
Information in this section was contributed by adam blaskovic.
Hint: Tiny-Huge Island: Easy coins:
When on Tiny-Huge Island while you are small, instead
of jumping on Goombas (the mushroom enemies), go next to them.
Smash the ground and you will get a blue instead of a yellow coin.
Information in this section was contributed by SuperSonicMewtwo.
Go to the Tiny-Huge Island room and jump into the very large picture,
which will make you small. When you get into the world there will
be three big Goombas. Instead of just jumping on them, do a super-butt
slam and a blue coin will appear. Do this to all three of the
Goombas, then go to the wooden pole. Run around it five times
and it should give you five coins. You now should have twenty
coins.
Information in this section was contributed by BASKETSTAR1000.
Hint: Tiny-Huge Island: Defeating Koopa
The Quick in "Rematch with Koopa the Quick":
Go to Koopa The Quick when you are tiny and talk to
him. After you select go, immediately turn around and start running,
but stay near the fence. Once you reach the end of the fence,
long jump (hold Z + press A) up to the box where
the big balls originate. Long jump to where the balls turn and
start to roll down the hill. Turn and long jump to the bottom
(you may take some damage). Then, run across the board (running
straight for most of the time, and only running sideways when
you are about to be blown off). Finally, run to Koopa the Quick's
flag in the corner.
Information in this section was contributed by Joe W.
Hint: Tiny-Huge Island: Koopa skyboarding:
Go to Tiny-Huge Island and enter the level being in
Huge Island. Go through the door in front of you and head to the
hill with the Koopa walking around. Go up and jump on him to make
him lose his shell. Then jump on the shell to start riding it.
Head to where the cannon is located, but do not enter it. Be careful,
and head to the gap. You should be going fast enough to make it
over. Then, continue to go straight and jump over the next gap.
When you jump over, the wind will pick up, push Mario, and keep
him in the air while he goes forward. When you get to the next
ledge you should land safely then go straight. Do not worry if
you bump into a Goomba. Keep going and when you see the pipe,
circle around it and head back to the ledge. Then, jump off and
you will be in the air again. When you reach the platform the
wind will be against you, but go forward and at the next gap,
jump. When you land, go right and head for the water. Circle the
platform in the water, head back, and do it over again. You can
keep going until you hit a wall or fence. You can even time yourself
on the so-called track. This takes some practice.
Information in this section was contributed by Shinigami579.
Hint: Tiny-Huge Island: Ultimate leap:
Note: You must know how to skyboard to do this trick.
Get Koopa's shell and go up the nearby hill. Jump off the ledge.
If this works, Mario will fly in the air, but slightly higher
than the regular way.
Information in this section was contributed by SpeedyBoalt.
Hint: Tiny-Huge Island: Opposite directions:
When you get the Koopa Troopa shell, go up the hill
where you will see a Goomba. If done correctly, you will go in
opposite directions. Note: You will go down if you point down.
Information in this section was contributed by Nathan.
Hint: Wet Dry World: Flood:
After getting the key from the second Bowser, go upstairs
and walk through the door that leads to the room with all the
pictures. Stop when you get through it and press C-Up to
look around. In front of you is a picture of a spider. It is Wet
Dry World. To flood it, jump very high into the picture. If you
time the triple jump extremely well, you will flood Wet Dry World.
Information in this section was contributed by Whitney.
Hint: Wet Dry World: No water:
This trick is very similar to the "Wet Dry World:
Flood" hint. The only difference is, instead of jumping high
into the picture, jump very low into it. You should try to jump
directly into the bottom of the picture.
Information in this section was contributed by Whitney.
Hint: Wet Dry World: Getting to town:
In order to get into the town, which can be found surrounded
by a "gate" in the corner near the beginning, you can
either try to use the cannon on the other side (does not work
too well) or try to make a triple jump into the very top of the
painting at the entrance to the level, making the water rise all
of the way. Once it is up, swim to the gate's ledge and jump while
pressing Up or Down (whichever way would point upwards
for you) to grab a hold of the side. Pull yourself up and swim
down through the tunnel quickly so that you do not run out of
air.
Information in this section was contributed by michellemercer.
Hint: Wet Dry World: Secret cannon shortcut:
When you enter the third floor, jump into the bottom
of the frame to drain all the water. Once you have entered, go
to the stairs next to the pier in the air. There will be a little
corner up against the stairs. Walk over next to the stairs into
the corner. Stand still for a moment and wait. Mario will disappear
then reappear next to the cannon that is at the very top of Wet
Dry World.
Information in this section was contributed by JMAN.
Hint: Wet Dry World: Red coins:
To get the red coins on Wet Dry World, raise the water
all the way to the top. Then, get in the cannon. Look for the
fenced-in area in the corner. Aim above this and shoot. This may
require a few attempts. Once you are in, swim down into it. You
will reach a fence. A hole is in the bottom of the fence, then
a hole will be in the top of the next fence. The button to lower
the water is directly under where you came out from. The first
red coin is in a block on a ledge across from the point with coins
around it. The second coin is on top of the hut across from the
first coin. To get this, you must do a backflip onto the top.
Then, bust the two blocks on the wall and get the coins. Next,
go onto one of the walls and run. Do a long jump to get on the
building. There are blocks on the buildings that you cannot reach.
To get these, go to the buildings and wall jump across from wall
to wall until you reach the top. Then, do the same thing to get
the others. This could take a few tries. You should then have
the star.
Information in this section was contributed by Brohicks4.
Hint: Whomp's Fortress: Extra life:
Go up the course and go to the first stone man that
looks like the person you have to defeat on the first star for
that course. Jump over the fence to the pole. Climb it all the
way to the top. You will get an extra life. Repeat this as needed.
Information in this section was contributed by Stormy9112.
Hint: Whomp's Fortress: Whomps will not
kill you:
Go to the Whomp's Fortress level and find a Whomp.
While it is walking, double jump so that you hang on to its head.
Pull yourself up and you will be riding a Whomp.
Information in this section was contributed by BEstGAmeR.
Hint: Fly with Mr. Owl:
When you start, look to your left. You should see a
tree. Climb up the tree and do a handstand at the top. You will
then see an owl come out. By going underneath him you can fly
all around the world.
Hint: Whomp's Tower: Shortcut:
If you can, crawl up the brick wall directly next to
the cannon. Then, switch sides when you reach the top. You can
go through the edge of the fence and not have to go through all
of the other things to get to the top.
Information in this section was contributed by coitfamily.
Hint: Whomp's Tower: Extra lives:
Go to the top of the mountain before you go up the
elevating stairs and you will see two mini Whomps. Make one fall,
then jump on him five times (not a Butt Slam). Then, knock it
down again and do a But Slam to get five coins.
Information in this section was contributed by Marit Flowers.
Hint: Open the red boxes:
In the first floor main hall of the castle, look straight
up. You must be standing on the picture in the middle of the room.
There will be a switch in the middle of the stage you just entered.
Jump on it and all the red boxes will now be opened. You can now
get the wing cap and fly around. Fly and get the red coins to
get the star in this stage. To exit this stage, fall.
Information in this section was contributed by Hickman976.
Hint: Water level:
If you jump in the water level, the level of the water
will vary. For example, if you jump in the picture at the bottom,
the water will be at the bottom. If you do a triple jump, you
can get in the top of the picture and the water level will be
at the top.
Information in this section was contributed by Slyguy1500.
Hint: Get all items in Vanish Cap section:
When you empty the moat that floods the bottom of the
bridge outside the castle, go into the newly opened hole. This
is the Vanish Cap section. Slide and try and get all the mushrooms,
red coins, etc. It can be climbed if you missed anything. If you
land on a platform or go straight to the ground, climb up by crawling.
This can be done by holding Z + Analog-stick Forward
(do not release Z). This will take awhile, but it is worth
it.
Information in this section was contributed by zubclub.
Hint: Defeating second Bowser:
When you meet the second Bowser, he will jump and the
platform slopes. After that, go very close to the farthest bomb
from Bowser. Press Z to duck .When he tries to bump you,
and is very close, press A. Mario will do a backward somersault.
After that, grab his tail and throw him to the bomb.
Information in this section was contributed by Paulo Talion.
Hint: Defeating third Bowser:
To defeat the final Bowser very easily, stand on the
edge of the arena opposite of Bowser, next to a bomb. Face the
outside (make sure you can still see Bowser) and hold Z.
When he charges at you, press A and you will backflip over
him. Press B to grab his tail and you will have his face
already stuffed in the bomb -- you do not have to aim or even
throw him. Press B again and repeat the sequence again.
After you blow him up a few times, the edges will fall out of
the arena and it will turn into a star. Do not fall off along
with them. Go to a corner of the star and do the same thing, but
you will now have to throw him. Go to the middle and get the big
star. Some things will happen and you just basically complete
the entire game.
Information in this section was contributed by Fen H..
The third Bowser has a lot of different tricks. During the beginning
of the battle he will raise his head and throw a rain of flames.
Once the flames fade, some will reveal coins. If you throw him
off the arena, he will jump back and send two electric rings.
After you throw Bowser two times into a mine he will break the
arena into a star, with the inside corners away from the mines.
After you defeat him, you will see the ending scene where Mario
frees Peach.
Information in this section was contributed by gabbie99.
Hint: Extra lives in third Bowser battle:
Walk behind the top left pillar to collect an extra
life if you lose a life during the battle.
Information in this section was contributed by Jason Hogan.
When you get to the pipe where Bowser is on, there is an extra
life at the last pillar on the left. Get it, and every time you
fight Bowser and lose go to the same location and get the extra
life.
Information in this section was contributed by NCS61985.
Hint: Shortcut in third Bowser level:
Climb up the "Lego" platform, to reach to
a part that levels out just a bit. Get as close as possible to
the part that continues to climb, then turn around and perform
a long jump in the opposite direction. Mario will land on the
checkered platform right before the moving platform with the arrow
on it. Using this will allow you to avoid the time and the danger
of the flameblowers along the way of the "Lego" path.
Information in this section was contributed by Jerry Caskey.
Hint: Defeating Chain Chomp:
Jump on the Chain Chomp's peg and take the red coin.
Quickly stomp the peg, and jump off the platform. Then, grab the
Little Throwing Box. Take it to the Chain Chomp, and throw the
box at him. Quickly run under him, stomp the peg, and run towards
the Seesaw Bridge. Near the stompable pegs and the Goombas, is
a Little Throwing Box. Run up to the Chain Chomp and paralyze
him with the box. Run under him, and stomp the peg one last time
to release the Star.
Information in this section was contributed by Mackenzie.
Hint: Spiral stairs shortcut:
Walk into the castle, walk up the stairs to the door
with the key hole, then go inside. You will see a column to the
left, just before the staircase starts to spiral. Walk along the
wall to your left until reaching the corner where the wall and
the column meet. Perform a double jump while still moving in that
direction. This should allow Mario to jump through the ceiling
and bring him right to the top of the stairs. Although this is
not a very large shortcut, it will save a few seconds and some
dizziness.
Information in this section was contributed by Jerry Caskey.
Hint: Highest point of the castle:
Get to the second peak of the castle. Then, find the
wall facing the waterfall and walk up the wall. You will now be
at the highest point of the castle. It is possible to fly up here
in the center where the flag is located.
Information in this section was contributed by Cooltom666.
Hint: Reaching high ledges:
To reach high ledges, back flip, triple jump, or wall
kick.
Information in this section was contributed by Pika312.
Hint: Bob-omb Buddies:
Talk to Bob-omb Buddies. They do not give you information,
but get the cannons ready for you.
Information in this section was contributed by Ryan Flynn.
Hint: Defeating the Bob-omb King:
When he is slowly coming after you, crouch down then
wait for him. As soon as his shadow touches your shadow, do a
backflip. You will land behind him, and it will take him awhile
to turn around. You now have plenty of time to walk up, grab him,
and throw him.
Information in this section was contributed by Ryan Flynn.
Hint: Reject-Boo:
When you see a Boo, do not run away. Stare at the Boo's
face. After a while, the Boo will go away and no harm is done
to anybody.
Information in this section was contributed by Jackmario64.
Hint: Defeating Whomps:
When you find a Whomp, run into the bottom middle of
it. As it tries to crush you, go in between its legs. This is
your chance to either kill it immediately or get your five coins
out of its back. Note: This also works with The King Whomp.
Information in this section was contributed by Sacredfire059.
Hint: Koopa Shell locations:
Information in this section was contributed
by Mackenzie.
Course 1: After defeating Koopa the Quick, return to the course
to find Koopa in the Bomb-Omb field near the bridge. Punch him,
then hop on his shell quickly. Run over him to get a blue coin.
Course 3: Jump into the water at the start of the course. Near
the circle of gold coins, there is an oyster. Inside is a Koopa
Shell.
Course 8: In the start of the level, walk to the edge of the two-story
tiered platform. Perform a backflip to reach the second story.
Bust the Orange Switchbox to reveal a Koopa Shell. Mario can ride
this green skateboard over soft, sinking sand.
Course 9: Go to Submarine Bay. At the far end of the bay, there
is an Oyster containing a Koopa Shell.
Course 10: In the pond with the two Spinning Flower Guys, jump
on the first one's head to launch you spinning over the wooden
wall. You will then find a Koopa Shell in the right Orange Switchbox.
Use it to capture Star 5.
Hint: Extra stars:
Collect a hundred coins on a stage to get a star.
Information in this section was contributed by Austinhh13.
Besides the six stars in each course there is an additional a
seventh star obtained when 100 coins are collected. There are
also stars in the castle. Toad gives Mario a few, as well as the
running rabbit in the basement.
Information in this section was contributed by Pika312.
After you get the first key from Bowser, unlock the door in the
basement. Go in and look for a rabbit and catch it. This is very
hard and frustrating, but will result in a star after he stops
complaining that he is late for tea.
Information in this section was contributed by SykoSmurf.
On the Princess' Slide level, there are actually two stars that
can be obtained. The first is collected by completing the course
in under 25 seconds and the other can be obtained by completing
it in under 20 seconds. To complete it in under 20 seconds use
the following trick. When you first see the coins that move from
the surface towards the air, jump. Hopefully you will land on
a solid floor which is barely three seconds from the finish.
Information in this section was contributed by Android12.
Go to the first floor and into the one with a boat picture. Go
right and face the cloud wall. Do a flip. You will find a black
box. Jump in and then get eight red coins. On the other side,
it is the same thing but you will get a mushroom.
Information in this section was contributed by Gatomon286.
Play the magma Level with the mini volcano (the red hot log rolling
mission). You need the red wing cap to fly. Get the wing cap box
behind you with a long jump and start flying. Stop directly in
front of the volcano and start doing the 1, 2, ,3 jump and fly.
Start flying over to the logs in the bottom right corner, directly
from where Mario starts. When you see the log, fly above it and
you will see the Star. Fly into it.
Information in this section was contributed by Rylan.
In the desert level, get the shell out of the box near the wing
cap box. Keep jumping on the pyramid for the top of the pyramid
star. Be careful not to hit a fall or a fire.
Information in this section was contributed by Rylan.
Hint: Star locations:
Information in this section was contributed
by mcafee53.
Level 1-1: Go to the top of the mountain and kill the big Bob-Omb
with B to throw him.
Level 1-2: Talk to the Koopa near where you start and race him
up the mountain.
Level 1-3: Talk to the red Bob-Omb and go to the cannon on the
blue rock hill. Aim at the point on the red thing and shoot all
the way up. Hit the yellow switch.
Level 1-4:
Coin 1: Below chain chomp.
Coin 2: By the cannon.
Coin 3: On Chain chomp.
Coin 4 and 5: From a top view the world, it would be on the top
left.
Coin 6: Below the mountain.
Coin 7: Up the hill after Coin 6.
Coin 8: On the island in the sky on top of the tree.
Level 1-6: Press Down + Z on top of Coin 3.
Level 2-6: Go to the cannon and shoot at the wall corner.
Level 4-5: Talk to the snow ball and control it until it goes
to the head.
Level 4-6: Jump on the spinner and spin under the mountain.
Last Coin: Where you start, go to the broken bridge and walk off
of it.
There are three different extra lives in the rainbow level opposite
the "Rainbow Ride" level. The first is in one of the
highest transparent clouds. The next can be found on the poles
hanging down from another cloud near a cannon. It is slightly
difficult to see at first. The last one can be acquired by climbing
the pole next to the Bob-bomb Buddy and doing a handstand. The
main point of all fifteen secret stars is to find the red coins.
It is recommended that you get the one on the poles last, since
it is difficult to jump off without falling down. You should talk
to the Bob-Bomb Buddy before trying the level (cannons make it
easier). Do not worry about losing a life when you fall. Instead,
you will fall all the way down into the pond in the front of the
castle.

Hint: The meaning of "L is real 2401":
The meaning is a clue. 2/4/01 was the expected release
date for Paper Mario on the Nintendo 64, and it was being
made the same time as this game. The "L" stands for
Luigi, giving the phrase the meaning "Luigi is real in Paper
Mario".
Information in this section was contributed by Scot Romijn.
Glitch: Complete the game without 120 stars:
Get 15 stars in any worlds. When the rabbit appears
in the underground world, pick him up and take him to the door
between the room you are in and the room with the second Bowser
door. Place the rabbit as close to the door as possible, then
go through the door. As soon as the the door animation ends, jump
towards the door. If you get the distance correct, you will merge
with the door. Pick up the bunny and walk through to the other
side of the door. Move towards the star door. Place the bunny
a very small distance from the door. If done correctly, you can
jump in between the bunny and the door and can walk through to
the other side. After you defeat the second Bowser, go upstairs.
At the staircase before the third star door, do a super long jump
at the bottom of the stairs facing away from the door. As soon
as you land, press A as fast as possible and you will fly
through the door. Repeat this glitch on the endless staircase.
Information in this section was contributed by Tuscanincs.
Note: This trick will require extreme practice and a fast finger.
Start a new game. Get 8 stars from anywhere and defeat the first
Bowser. Then, get 7 more stars from anywhere, so your total is
now 15 stars. Then, go downstairs and find the bunny that is running
around. Catch it, but do not pick up the star. Pick up the bunny
again and carry it to the door that leads to the room with the
second Bowser battle and Dire Dire Docks. Pull him through the
door by dropping him next to the door, running through the door,
then quickly turn around and pick him up. This is the hardest
part of the trick and will take some time to master. After you
get the bunny through the door, walk him up to the big-star door.
Stand next to the door with your back turned to the door. While
still holding the bunny, hold Z and press A very
fast. You will flip through the door. Complete the Dire Dire Docks
level and Bowser as usual. You should now have 16 stars. Go upstairs
to the floor with Wet-Dry Land. Walk up the stairs and long jump
backwards up the stairs. To do this you must turn around and long
jump, then move backwards. Keep doing this until Mario begins
staggering on the stairs. You will fly up the stairs and go through
the door. Walk up the blue stairs and into the "endless stairs"
door. Then, repeat the long jump glitch. Be careful; if you are
touching the walls at any time while you are performing this part
of the trick you will fly through the stairs and into Wet-Dry
World. After you achieve the speed long jump, you can just walk
up the stairs and into the last battle. Note: The endless stairs
sound will be playing the entire time you are on the top floor.
You should have completed the game with 16 stars. This trick is
used in speed runs and with some practice you can complete the
game in 25 minutes.
Information in this section was contributed by Alec.
If you do not 120 stars, keep continuing or start a new game.
At the beginning of the game, go to the right side of castle and
go to the first tree you see. Face the castle and start performing
a triple jump. You should be at the base of the hill or the top,
then start sliding back down. Try quickly jumping at the correct
speed. If done correctly you will end up hanging on the castle
wall. Go up and you will see the usual scenery, but Yoshi may
not be there. You can also go to the middle of the castle. <br

Glitch: Stuck inside of the castle:
After getting 120 stars, then use the cannon to go
on top of the castle. Get the flying cap at that location, then
fly back to the canon as quick as possible. Aim for the cloud
that is right above the castle's peak. Land on the second ledge
of peak. Jump into the wall (facing the castle's entrance) until
Mario falls in. Try diving in if you can not get after a few tries,
or the whole process may need to be repeated. Once stuck, Mario
will be in between the castle's entry way and the first floor.
You can go through the doors to change places, but the only way
to get out is to get on the main entrance side and walk through
the walls on the sides of the doors or jump over the doors.

After getting 120 stars, then use the cannon to go on top of the
castle. Go to the upside-down cone shaped roof section in front
of you. You can just walk right through it. If you try to run
off the back of the castle, you will just start pushing on an
invisible wall, where you can see right through the castle.
Information in this section was contributed by Case
and morscman.
Use the following trick to get this glitch without the wing cap
or any stars. Go to the right hill next to the castle. Do two
jumps before hitting the steep slope, then on the third one on
the grass hill slope. If you are high enough, you should be able
to grab onto the castle wall. After that, go to the first castle
peak underneath the second one. If you are at the correct angle,
do a side somersault towards the second castle peak. If done correctly,
you should be able to get on it and continue with the glitch.
Information in this section was contributed by Cooltom666.
Glitch: Reach top of castle:
Get all 120 stars then shoot yourself on top of the
castle. Obtain the red flying cap fly back down to the cannon.
Then, shoot yourself at the highest point the cannon can aim.
[Screenshot]
Fly so that you land on the second level above the picture of
Peach. [Screenshot]
Go around two sides of the hexagonal tower (the first shaded side).
Run forward and you should go up the wall like the pillars in
Shifting Sand Land. Keep running and you will end up on top.
Information in this section was contributed by Collin Robertson.
Glitch: Upside down world:
Go into the castle and look up at the cloud part on
the sun thing. When the game starts to bring you into the world,
jump into the air and perform a Butt Pound (A + Z).
When you enter the red cap world and are exactly upside down,
then the whole level will appear upside down.
Information in this section was contributed by John Warzala.
Glitch: Swim without water in moat:
Get rid of the water in the moat. Collect all 120 stars,
and following the instructions for the "Stuck inside of the
castle" glitch. Go in and out of the castle a few times,
and walk through the wall in the castle to quit and return outside.
Do a somersault into the moat and Mario should be swimming in
mid-air.
Information in this section was contributed by Jacob Carver.
Glitch: Flying hat music with no flying
hat:
Go to the Bob-Bomb Battlefield. Go to level two. Put
on the flying hat to the right of the bridge, then agree to race
Koopa The Quick. It does not matter if you win or lose. When you
reach the finishing flag, talk to Koopa. The song is still the
"flying hat" music, but you are not wearing the flying
hat. Note: If you want to turn it off, get another flying hat
and wear it until it disappears. The music will become normal
again.

Glitch: Water under the lava in Bowser's
Castle:
When you get to the lava chamber (with the rope bridge
over it) drive into the lava in Extra mode. You will go through
it, landing in "black" water. While you are in the "water",
you can see through the wall and watch other drivers race on the
track.

Glitch: Water under the water in DK's Jungle
Parkway:
When you get launched over the river in Extra mode,
stop at the landing spot. Try to drive to the island in the water.
You will go through the water and end up in "green"
water.
Information in this section was contributed by LAWRENCE DEPAOLI.
Glitch: Go through bridge in Lethal Lava
Land:
Go to the little bridge that goes up and down. When
it starts to go up, run up it then get burned by the lava. You
should be under the other side of the bridge when you hit the
lava. When you fly up, you will go through the bridge and be on
the square where the eyeball is located. Note: This will effect
your health; be at full health when attempting this.
Information in this section was contributed by BASKETSTAR1000.
Glitch: Ride on a Koopa Shell dead in Shifting
Sand Land:
Open the box with the Koopa shell but do not get the
shell. Go to the cannon that is on the platforms where the Tox
Boxes roam. Hit the Wing Cap and enter the cannon. Go as far to
the left and as high as possible and fire. You will lose half
of your health and land back in the cannon. Repeat this, then
shoot to where the Koopa shell is found and fly into it. You will
be riding the Koopa shell with all of your health gone. As soon
as you lose it, you will die no matter what. Note: This can be
difficult and it may require practice.
Information in this section was contributed by Scot Romijn.
Glitch: Condor has a hat in Shifting Sand
Land:
Go to Shifting Sand Land and let the condor take your
hat. When you take it back, do not pick it up. Instead, take the
warp next to the tree about seven to nine times. There should
now be a pile of hats where yours was. Get close enough to them
to only take one, then let the condor take it. Pick up another
hat (only one so you do not end up holding it in your hand) and
the condor will not swoop on you anymore. Note: After the condor
takes the hat, the other ones will become fakes. If you leave
the level with a fake hat on, you will lose it when you go back
to the castle.
Information in this section was contributed by Scot Romijn.
Glitch: Fly while holding your hat in Shifting
Sand Land:
Do the trick to make a pile of hats in one spot. Get
a flying cap and take all of the hats from the pile. You will
be holding your wing cap. You can then fly around holding your
hat until the wing cap ends. You will then just be holding your
hat. There are three ways to put your hat back on your head. You
can yet another wing cap; talk to something or read something;
or warp somewhere.
Information in this section was contributed by Scot Romijn.
Glitch: Teleport in Wet Dry World:
Go into Wet Dry World at full water level (jump into
the painting as high as you can). Swim to the canon launcher (make
sure it is open) and aim just above the sun and slightly to the
right. Fire and you will rebound back near the cannon, and will
teleport to another part of the stage.
Information in this section was contributed by John Luke.
Glitch: Pass through wall:
Enter the castle then walk up the staircase to the
door that has a lock. Next, enter the door and face the left wall.
Do a double jump and you will end up at the top of the staircase.

First, collect the 120 Stars. When the cannon is open in the backyard
of the castle, go to where Yoshi is found, in the right top part
of the castle, on the roof. Talk to Yoshi. Take the Wing Cap and
go to the cannon. Go to the highest tower. Try to fly to the highest
part of the tower. If done correctly, you should pass through
the tower. You will get trapped in some kind of black thing inside
the door. If you use the door to get out, you will enter the castle,
but will also be behind the door. To get out you must jump over
the door, slightly higher, to pass through the wall. Note: This
will require several attempts.
Information in this section was contributed by Tobias Valdes.
Once you have all 120 stars, shoot to the roof in the cannon.
Get the Wing Cap and go to the front side of the castle roof.
Get to the highest part you can reach then perform a triple jump
to fly. While you are flying, go into the lowest platform on the
tower that you cannot reach without the Wing Cap. Go to the front
of that section of the tower. Dive into the wall and you will
fall into a black room of death, which is on the other side of
the door leading inside. If you go through the door, you will
be in the castle section of the room. To escape, walk through
the wall while inside the castle to reach the castle foyer.
Information in this section was contributed by Scot Romijn.
Glitch: Go through and under tower:
Go to the place where you unlocked the Flying Cap.
If you fly low enough, you will notice all five towers' bottoms
become semi-transparent. You can fly through these semi-transparent
walls, but make sure that you do not hit the bottom or you will
end up back in the castle.

Glitch: Get to the third Bowser without
75 Stars:
Go up the stairs jumping backwards rapidly. You will
eventually get to the end.
Information in this section was contributed by Zander Arnondin.
Glitch: Jump through ceiling:
When you put in the key to get onto the top floor,
there will be a staircase after you go through the door. Walk
all the way to where the floor starts to rise up, then go over
to the wall. Jump up, and you will go through the ceiling, bringing
you up near the top of the staircase.
Information in this section was contributed by Rmaster801.
Glitch: Flying Mario:
Get Mario's energy down to the last one to two units
on his meter. Find a ledge to jump off, making sure that it is
low enough to get the correct timing. Collect a wing cap, then
fly back to the ledge. Initiate a triple jump, jumping off the
ledge on the second jump, and hit the jump button for the third
time the instant Mario lands. If timed correctly, the fall will
take off the rest of Mario's energy. However, Mario will do a
somersault and start flying. He will not be very high off the
ground, but he still will be flying. You can safely enter a cannon,
but the instant you touch the ground Mario will "die."
Collecting coins will not restore Mario's health; neither will
the spinning heart. Mario will not be able to grab any stars.
This can be done in the Bob-Omb Battlefield, off the ledge with
the spinning heart. It is possible to fly into the cannon by the
large fence, right in front, shoot toward the Island in the Sky,
and get the wing cap in midair.
Information in this section was contributed by Oliver Goste.
Glitch: Lose two lives at once:
This trick requires at least one star. Go to Princess
Slide. Go down the slide until you are able to jump off the side.
Immediately jump off when you get out. There should be another
part of the slide down there. Hit the slide and make sure you
fall off it. It will take half of your health away. Go back to
the slide and do the process again. Do not get any coins or else
this trick will not work if you heal. This time, when you hit
the slide Mario will die. Make sure you fall off. After you fall
and die, you will start back in the middle. After you hit the
ground, Mario will die again. You will start back in front of
the castle.
Information in this section was contributed by Garynn Cahill.

When you are still running, jump and throw the bomb at Chain-Chomp.
It will go straight up for a few seconds. This will not effect
his health. The Chain-Chomp will drop down and start chase you
as normal. If you want to do this again, go away from where the
bomb was located then return a little while. You can keep doing
this an unlimited number of times.

Glitch: Ignored by bird:
Go to Shifting Sand Land. Get on top of the structure
with the winged hat and get it. Then, fly across the level near
the entrance to the pyramid. Go to the pillar on the left of where

the top of it. After it disappears, remain there and the bird
will ignore you.

Glitch: Make Mario turn a box into his
cap:
Go to course 8 (Shifting Sand Land) and do the trick
that makes Mario hold his cap. Go to the place with the stone
pillars. Pick up a box and Mario will appear as if he is carrying
his cap like he would a box. When you press B to throw

to see those things.

Go into the cannon that shoots you into the five coin
rings. Aim at the middle coin for the first three rings, then

on the star.

strangest part is that when Mario is talking to the mother penguin,
he stands up and his eyes are open (as if he is a zombie).
Information in this section was contributed by Cooltom666.
Glitch: Strange warp:
Once you have the key from the second Bowser, go through
the door to the room with all the pictures. Stop wen you get through
it and look up. To the left are some gray shapes. Jump into the
