Unlimited lives: Press Select during game play to display the
sub-menu. Press B, Start(2), B(2), Start(2),
B(2), Start(3), B, Start, B(3),
Start(3), B, Start, B, Start(2),
B, Start(2), B(2), Start, B,
Start. The screen will flash to confirm correct code entry.
Note: This also refills all potions.
Hint: Secret rooms in tower: There are two secret rooms in the tower containing
the final piece of staff. When you get to the top room where the
piece is located, hop on top of the piece then jump. This takes
you to a secret room containing a bomb detonator. Jump across
to the platform where the detonator is located and step on it.
Drop down to the room below to pick up the final piece of staff,
then in the room just below, pick up the block. In the middle
of the top right edge of the room, jump with the block until you
end up in the staff room. Press Up to enter the secret
room. Inside you will find some (at this point, useless) potions
and an extra life, just in case you manage to die at this part
of the game.

Addendum: Part 8: In part 8 of strategy, you can easily pick up the block
and press Jump. Then. release the block and jump on the
magic boots to get them. Then, jump off killing yourself on the
spikes.
