Ace Combat 2

Music test:
Complete the game with a rank higher than First Lieutenant. A selection for music player mode will appear in the options menu. Any of the 28 music tracks on the game disc may be played. Press L1 or L2 to jump to the next track, R1 or R2 to jump to the previous track, Circle to select a track, Select to toggle the screen, and Square, Triangle, or X to quit.

Free mission mode:
Complete the Kingpin mission. A "Free Mission" option that allows any mission to be played will appear at the opening menu.

View all aircraft:
Shoot all of the skilled enemy pilots marked as "Danger" at the briefing screen and complete your collection of medals on the statistics screen to get a rank of General. A new select will appear at the options menu. All the planes you have encounter so far (friendly and enemy) may be now viewed in 3D. You can rotate the fighters, and zoom in and out.

Lock replay view:
Hold Square during a replay to lock the camera.

Alternate mission map view:
Highlight the "Mission" option on the mission selection screen, and press Select. Three new viewing angles may be selected.

Display rear view of Sony analog controller:
Press Select at the control configuration screen.

XFA-27 fighter:
Complete the game under the normal difficulty setting. Play the game again under hard difficulty and reach the low altitude surprise attack mission (Dead End). Locate and destroy the four YF-23As in the special Fox Force Four squadron south of the target. A medal and the XFA-27 will be awarded on the debriefing screen.

To get the XFA-27 under the easy difficulty setting, complete the game and replay it under "Extra" aircraft selection until the "Escort The Channel Breakthrough Operation" mission. Then, shoot down Dao, Jian, and Xiao (the three "Danger" aircraft of that mission). Remember to kill all "danger" aircraft on the way.

Bonus aircraft:
Successfully complete the game with the normal or bonus ending. A new option will be unlocked after you choose a difficulty setting under the "Start Game" option at the title screen. Select that option to buy some new aircraft as you play through the game again. The new fighters include the F-15S, MiG-31, Su-25, and the XFA-27.

Hint: Normal ending:
Play the game up to mission 19, "Kingpin". Finish the mission without shooting down the skilled enemy pilot Z.O.E. This is the enemy plane that is marked "Danger" in the briefing screen.

Hint: Bad ending:
Play the game up to mission 19, "Kingpin". Finish the mission after shoot down the skilled enemy pilot, Z.O.E. You will then be able to play mission 20, "Last Resort". Do not shoot down the cruise missile that is launched during that mission.

Hint: Bonus ending:
Play the game up to mission 20, "Last Resort". Shoot down the cruise missile. You will then be able to play mission 21, "Fighter's Honor". Successfully complete this mission to see the bonus ending.

Hint: Hidden level:
A new Mine level is unlocked when you destroy the C-5 transport on the first Raven level.
