Debug menu:
Hold Up + X at the Naughty Dog logo until the title screen appears. Hold Left and press Square, Circle, Square, Start. During game play, pause and press Down, X(26), Down. The sound of a snort will confirm correct code entry. The game will resume. Push Select to display a debug menu.

Hint: Clearing obstacles:
On levels such as "Road to Nowhere", you can jump onto the ropes on the side and easily clear most of the obstacles. To keep from falling off the rope, you need to jump forward repeatedly on the rope.

Hint: Extra lives:
Go a few steps backwards on "The High Road" or "Fumbling Around In The Dark" levels to find extra lives.

This trick can be done If you completed the game or have reached the level 4 of Dr. Neo Cortex. Complete the level until you get all boxes and get a gem. Then, go into the stage and the Green Gem Ride will take you up. There will be 32 lives when you finish.

Enter the "Castle Machinery" level. Go to the left and jump on the green gem. When the gem stops, go to the right, and you will see floating extra lives (Crash heads). Note: You can only do this after using the "Super password" cheat.

Repeat the first stage and you will find masks very easily.

Hint: Defeating Papu Papu:
When you arrive, Papu Papu will be sleeping. You will have two Aku Akus. He will spin his club. When this happens, go on his seat to dodge it. He will then bring the club up to hit you. Dodge that as well. Then, jump on his head. Repeat the above steps twice to defeat Papu Papu.

Hint: "Native Fortress": Extra apples and lives:
There are some locations where you can get behind the log fence. At any location that is flat and not jagged, you can jump up onto and proceed behind where you can find extra apples and lives.

Hint: "Temple Ruins" level: Boxes:
When you start, go back and you will see one piece of fruit. If you step off the edge, boxes will appear and you will go to the next end and find more boxes.

Hint: "Up The Creek" level: Hidden items:
At about three quarters of the way through the level, you will see an exclamation mark box. If you hit this box then go backwards by following the lily pads, you will end up at the top of the waterfall. Begin to go down the log that allows you up the waterfall. When you look down you will see a few boxes at the side of the water. Jump down and get the boxes. You will also notice that there is now a path of lilies across the waterfall. Walk on these to obtain an extra life.
