Resident Evil

Note: This game was also titled Biohazard.

Change clothes:
Rescue the other two players and finish the game. The phrase "You've got the special key" will appear after the credits. Save the game. Start the game that was just saved. Enter the room with the large mirror on the second floor of the mansion. Unlock the door in the back. Enter the closet and move all the way to the end of the rack of clothes. A message asking "There is an outfit that fits you perfectly, do you want to put it on?" will appear. Select "Yes" to change your character's clothes.

Reset game:
Pause the game during play and press Start + Select. The game will reset and return to the main menu.

Unlimited rocket launcher:
Finish the game within three hours without rescuing anyone or saving the game. A rocket will appear after the credits. Choose to continue playing after the game restarts. The rocket launcher will be available when the new game begins. Note that the rocket launcher does not shoot well upwards or downwards.

Configure game (Japanese version):
Pause the game during play and press Start + Select. Game options may be changed before resuming game play.

Change difficulty during game (Japanese version):
Note: The game must have been previously completed on the hard difficulty setting. Press R1, L2, R2, L1, X, Triangle, X, Square at the title screen. The sound of a zombie confirms correct code entry. Hold R1 + R2 + L1 + L2 and press Select during game play.

Unlimited Colt Python:
Successfully complete the game. When starting a new game, check your inventory for an infinite Colt Python (Magnum) revolver.

Hint: Changing clothes:
When playing as Rebecca or Barry Burton, you can change your clothes by going to the special door containing alternate costumes. You must unlock this door first before you can use it.
Information in this section was contributed by Aldian Hudaya.

Hint: Defeating Cerebuses (zombie dogs):
Shoot it one time with a hand gun (Beretta), then knife it to death. Use the shotgun if they appear in a group.
Information in this section was contributed by Aldian Hudaya.

Hint: Defeating Plant 42:
Chris can save ammunition when fighting Plant 42 by using the combat knife. Only about a dozen hits with the knife are needed to kill it.
Information in this section was contributed by Craig Aldebert.

Do not face Plant 42 in the Plant 42 room. Instead, create the V-Jolt chemical and immediately kill the plant by using the chemical on the plant's root.
Information in this section was contributed by Aldian Hudaya.

Hint: Defeating Zombies:
When playing in Arranged mode, the Hand Gun (Beretta) will be different. Shoot a zombie several times. If you are lucky, the zombie will be decapitated. Also, the shotgun can split zombies if you are lucky. However when the zombie is split, the upper body will still attack you while the bottom part will covered in blood.
Information in this section was contributed by Aldian Hudaya.

Hint: Easy kills:
When playing as Jill at the very beginning of the game where you go into the dining room, instead of going into the hall to fight the zombie where the dead Kenneth is, run back into the mail hallway where Wesker is located. He will say something, then you will return to the dining room. Try to leave again, then walk up the side where the clock is. A zombie will appear there, and Barry will kill it. From this point on, all of the zombies will die in three hits.
Information in this section was contributed by Scott Miller.

Hint: Logging onto the computer:
To log in to the computer in the lab, and unlock the areas B1 and B2, use the following passwords.

1st: John
2nd: Ada
3rd:Mole
Information in this section was contributed by Dennis Vink.

Hint: Getting the Star Crest:
Go to the hall with the numerous paintings and crows. Put the switches behind the paintings in the following order: new born baby; infant; lively boy; young man; middle-aged man; bold looking old man.
Information in this section was contributed by Michel Vink.

Hint: Save ammunition as Jill:
When playing as Jill, do not shoot the first zombie that is standing over Kenneth's body. Instead, run into the dining room. Barry will speak to Jill before the zombie comes though the door. Barry will shoot it three times, blowing off its head.
Information in this section was contributed by Suzkid3.

Hint: Save ammunition as Jill or Chris:
Stand behind the statue in the room above the dining room. When the zombies come up on the other side, they will try to walk through the statue leaving you free to knife them to death.
Information in this section was contributed by OctWarlock.

Hint: Meet Barry in save room:
When you start the game as Jill in original mode, after talking to Barry in the hall, go to the dining room. Then, go to the piano room without looking at Kenneth's dead body. Play the piano, then run to the left stair's save room. Save the game and put all your weapons in the chest. When you go to leave, Barry should enter and update you on the mission.
Information in this section was contributed by Michael Persico.

Hint: Bad language:
Start a game as Jill. When Barry and Jill are asked to check out the dining room, follow Barry. When you are in the dining room, run out into the hall way. The captain will ask "Have you investigated?". Re-enter the dining room, then try to leave once more. Barry will stand up and say "Scared already... It isn't like you Jill". Walk near the clock. A zombie will come through the door. Barry will shoot it and then use some bad language. Note: This trick does not work with Chris.

Hint: Checking Zombies:
If you are not sure if a zombie is dead, walk up fairly close to it (but not so close that they start chewing your ankles) and simply back up. If the Zombie is alive, the character will do a wary backup move instead of the standard backup done when there is nothing there.
Information in this section was contributed by OctoberWarlock.

If the zombie is on the floor and is still alive, its head will keep turning side to side.
Information in this section was contributed by JOSH WILLIAMS.

If you are not sure if a zombie is dead, back up away slightly so that you can see the body. If there is a blood pool around it, it is dead.
Information in this section was contributed by Justin.

If you can walk over a zombie, it is dead. If you walk over a zombie and the corpse moves, it is still alive.
Information in this section was contributed by Aldian Hudaya.

Hint: Detecting enemies:
In order to tell whether or not there is an enemy that you can hear, but cannot see (off screen), turn in the opposite direction of where the enemy may be, and press Aim. If there is an enemy present, your character will turn around and aim in the direction of the enemy. If nothing is there, your character will just aim in the direction you are facing. This also is useful if you are not sure if a taken down zombie is actually dead.
Information in this section was contributed by Joe Colunga.

Hint: Kill Rebecca:
Go to the serum room and see Rebecca down there. Tell her to stay, then do everything else to go outside. Do the piano last before you fight the snake. After fighting the snake, you should get the scene where Chris faints and Rebecca carries him to the serum room. Once you get back inside from the guardhouse, kill the first Hunter and Chris will say he is worried about Rebecca. Waste at least a half hour of time, then go to the serum room. Once you get down the stairs, the scene with a Hunter cornering Rebecca should start. To kill her, simply run in the save room. You now have a choice of the two endings that the Capcom guide missed (save Jill or not).
Information in this section was contributed by oozarugump.

Hint: Herb mixtures:
Note: You cannot mix more than one Blue or Red Herb in a mixture, and you cannot add a Red Herb or Blue Herb to two Green Herbs already mixed together
