Put a pitcher on the mound who can pitch splitfinger fastballs or sinkers. Make the pitcher pitch a high splitfinger fastball or change up. The CPU batter will swing at the ball and miss it about 95 percent of the time.

Information in this section was contributed by JakethaSnake007.

Hint: Easy grounders:

Information in this section was contributed by KMMHERE.

Hint: Unlock cheats easily:
Begin game play in two player mode while using both controllers. Keep hitting homeruns, triples, and more off fastballs by pressing X(2) on controller two. Note: Make sure that you include ground ruled doubles and inside the park homeruns. Also, pitch and strikeout the player two in all 27 at bats in the 9 inning game. You can also unlock the codes in single game or exhibition modes.
Information in this section was contributed by And1220.

Hint: Defeating the Triple Play 2001 Dream Team and other All-Star teams:
Have a pitcher who has a change-up as one of his pitches. Then, throw inside change-ups to every batter.
Information in this section was contributed by RockGrt1.

Hint: Pitching as John Smoltz:
When pitching John Smoltz, use his curve or slider. Get it up to two blocks and the batters will mostly swing and miss because they break late.
Information in this section was contributed by Josh.

Hint: Lucky numbers:
Some numbers can be very lucky for certain players. Just trade the players to teams which have players with the same numbers, create players with the same numbers and sign them to the same team, or sign the players. Some examples are:
Information in this section was contributed by Robert Evers.

Ken Griffey Jr: 33
Fernando Tatis: 26
Mark McGwire: 30
Frank Thomas: 37
Matt Lawton: 60
Juan Gonzalez: 36

Better defense:
Before throwing the first pitch, move the outfield in two "clicks" and over either to the left or right to align the center fielder behind the pitcher. Note: The center fielder should not be all the way up (at second base). If that happens, move him back one click. Most of the time, with any line drive or normal base hit to the outfield, you can throw the runner out at first base by using a "power throw". This works especially well with the "Powerup Defense". There is also still time to get back to the wall if he hits a long fly.
Information in this section was contributed by Andy Bayles.

Hint: Increase chances of a hit:
When hitting, do not hold down the D-pad. Press X and you will get a better chance at a hit. Wait long enough and press X and you will sometimes get a double down the right field line. When doing this and pressing Square, you can get a double more easily and at times even a home run.
Information in this section was contributed by Robert Evers.

Hint: Easy points:
Keep stealing to unlock the Fast Players and Power-Up Speed bonuses. Use both of them and you can bunt for easy hits. By the time pitcher picks up ball your batter will be at first. If he tosses to first base, start for second base and you will reach it before the first baseman throws the ball. If you want to make hits, just hit into the outfield and you will get triples and homeruns. Then, use the suicide squeeze to bring your baserunner home. Note: Stealing home before pitch makes it to the plate will also unlock Jackie Robinson.
Information in this section was contributed by Andrew Lowden.

Hint: Perfect game:
Earn or purchase Satchel Paige (recommended) or Cy Young and have them start the game. If you have Paige, throw a screwball. If you have Young, throw a slider. After selecting the pitch, hold Up + X until the pitch meter reaches three bars. 95% of the time, the slider will catch them looking. 99.9% of the time, the screwball will get the job done.
Information in this section was contributed by Ryan Softcheck.

Hint: Get the lineup you want with points caps draft:
Since you have to average around 75 points a draftee, you can usually get a 90-100 level player for your first two picks before you cannot exceed 75 points. This is also true for the CPU. The CPU will always draft the max player points possible each time (i.e. 75 points player after 75 points player). It will always take pitchers and Marquee players, but not outfielders. For example, choose Pedro round one, Maddux round two and then Kerry Wood round three. Since Wood is a 57, you will have 18 extra points and can pick up A Rod on the next round. Usually players such as Shawn Green, Albert Belle, Carl Everett, and Juan Gonzalez are still available through 10-16 rounds. So select a 57 point man at first base, pick up Shawn Green and trade him for McQwire.
Information in this section was contributed by Andrew Lowden.

Hint: Drafting with or without points cap:
When you begin drafting with or without the points cap, you can get a better team by drafting the worst player you can in the following positions: SS, 3rd, RF, and five pitchers.
