Hint: Super free agent: There is a fake free agent player, named "Sabrina
Ladha". She is a goalie with a 90 OVR rating. To make sure
she does not end up playing for another team in your Dynasty or
Be A Pro mode, use the "Edit Player" feature in the
creation zone. Get to the free agents and go down to "S.
LADHA". Edit her ratings down to "50" on everything.
This will ensure that nobody signs her. Alternately, choose to
sign her to a team that you will not be using or playing against,
such as like a European or National team. The problem with this
is that if your desired team wants to sign her, it will take $5
million off the team's salary cap regardless of overall ratings.
Rocky Mak.
Hint: Overcoming the salary cap: If you have created a six player squad of 99 ratings,
but cannot fit them to a team due to salary cap concerns, even
in a custom team, put them in an international or all-star team.
These teams are not restricted to salary caps. Rocky Mak.
Hint: Combined style goaltenders: Sometimes when you change the lineups for your goaltenders,
there may be some that is neither stand-up nor are butterfly-style
goaltenders. They are what as more common known as hybrid goaltenders.
Unfortunately, there overall rating tends to be low. You cannot
create a combined-style goaltender. For example, Tim Thomas is
considered a combined goaltender with an overall rating of only
78. When you try to edit him in any way, he will lose his combined
style and will be a stand-up or butterfly goaltender. Rocky Mak.
Hint: Getting good players: Avoid "one season wonders". For Season mode,
a seemingly cheap price tag on a great, young player (for example,
Ovechkin of Washington Capitals, Andrej Meszaros of Ottawa Senators,
or Cam Ward of Carolina Hurricanes) may at first seem to be a
good idea. However if this lineup is in Dynasty mode, when you
want to keep them after year one you will be in deep trouble.
An expensive tag on an old or poor player may mean that they are
retiring soon or have long contracts. Rocky Mak.
