Secret Garden:
Successfully complete the game four times (all four
modes) and get a large amount of stamina, Travel to the ends of
the world and locate the patch of ivy on the northeast side of
the shrine. Climb up the ivy and follow trail all the way up and
around the ledge to the right. Jump across at the other end of
the ledge to reach the next set of ivy. Continue on until you
get to another ledge above that you must climb around. Once at
the other side of this ledge, climb to the right then shimmy across
another ledge that leads behind a column. Jump to the ivy-covered
column, then continue climbing. The ivy will lead to a walkway.
Climb the stairs and walkway to the left of the garden. Note:
Eating fruit from the trees causes damage. You must defeat a seventeenth
Colossus to continue to the end of the path to the top of the
temple.
It is possible to reach the Secret Garden early. Find the patch
of ivy behind the Temple you start at (almost directly under the
huge bridge you came in on). If your grip meter is high enough,
you can just jump straight up the side until you reach the first
ledge, which has a small patch of leaves on it. Position yourself
directly under that patch of leaves. Continue to hold Grip/Duck
and jump straight up. Your character will immediately duck in
those leaves, allowing you to refill any lost grip. Then, continue
around and up the side until you reach the path leading to the
garden.
Dan.
After completing the game, start a continued game from the completed
saved gaem file. There should now be a number "2" to
the right of your saved game. Start the game and perform the time
attacks on the statues (press Circle in front of the statues
in the temple) until you receive the "Lizard Detection Stone".
Then, go around and start eating the tails of the white lizards
on the way to defeating a few of the first Collosi. Now that you
are strong enough (the grip meter's bottom should be out of view
off the bottom of the screen), go to the area below the bridge
you came from. Walk to the left slightly until you see an area
of wall that has vines going very far up. You can climb up there.
Note: Instead of trying to straight climb or jumping straight
up, jump side-to-side all the way up to the second ledge then
continue jumping sideways at all opportunities (even on the ledges
and precarious sections).
Kevin Escaloni.
Ride a hawk, bird, lizard or eel:
Get behind one of those creatures, then press R1.
Quick gallop stop:
Press Left Analog-stick Down + X.
180 gallop turn:
Quickly press Left Analog-stick Down + X,
Left Analog-stick Down + X.
Standing gallop:
Hold R1 + X.
Rearing Agro:
When stationary on Agro's back, quickly pull the Left
Analog-stick Back + X. Agro will rear, then
quickly bolt forward at a gallop. This is useful for getting away
from a Colossus quickly.
Draconis1719.
Control intermission sequences:
The view can be moved and zoomed in during all intermission
sequences. You can also allow the game to idle during the introduction
sequence to see Agro exploring the world without Wander. This
sequence can also be controlled. Use the Right Analog-stick
to change the angle and R1 and R2 to zoom in and
out.
Alternate ending sequence:
Eat fruit from the Secret Garden to reduce your HP
as much as possible. Dormin will now be killed when shot by the
crossbow, and will alter the following sequences.
Alternate introduction sequence:
Turn on the game and let the introduction sequence
begin where your character is riding Agro. Press Start
so that the title screen appears. Allow the game idle and a new
introduction sequence will appear. This time, the setting is where
you last saved a game. It will show your character resting or
sleeping at the altar. Then, Agro will start walking away and
begin to run and roam all over the open area.
Armarena27.
Save the game after completing it. Turn off the PlayStation2,
then turn it back on. Allow the introduction sequence to begin,
where your character is riding Argo. Press Start so that
the title screen appears. Allow the game to idle, and a new introduction
sequence will begin. Instead of Argo roaming all over the world,
you will now follow a hawk, soaring over the canyons and plains.
Draconis1719.
Hint: Powerful attack:
When your fighting a Colossus, a way to damage it more
than usual is to press Triangle, R1 + Square.
When you do this, it does about twice as much damage as a normal
hit. Make sure you do not fall off the Colossus when you do this
move.
MikeLyea.
While holding R1 + Triangle, hold Square
until the controller vibrates and/or the rings on the circular
meter fills. Then, tap Square again. This does significant
damage to the Colossi and make it easier to defeat them.
Shane W..
To do a powerful jump attack, jump and quickly hold R1
+ Square. You will hit the Colossus very hard.
raphop.
Hint: Fast Grip gain:
Note: This trick only works at the shrine labeled "Broken
Seal". Find the white tailed lizard in this area. Kill it,
save the game, restart, and kill the lizard again. It should be
near your horse. It will give you more grip. Repeat this as many
times as desired. This is a good way to get to the secret garden
early.
Mike Nickles.
Hint: Easier way to control Agro:
When you are riding on bridges with narrow paths do
not try to control Agro. Just tap X a few times and Agro
should take control and not run into anything unless it is a very
sharp turn. Agro should only bump into an invisible wall when
there is no path Agro can take or when you are about to reach
the edge of a cliff. This is useful when you are fighting the
tenth Colossus, and going through the forests, canyons, and bridges.
Reuben R..
Hint: Hang on birds:
After you defeat a Colossi you will appear at the temple.
Near the area that the girl is sleeping you will see some white
birds. To hang and fly on them, quickly run to them. When they
start to fly, jump and hang on one of them. Shortly afterwards
the bird will get near the ground and you will fall.
Frank.
Hint: Colossi locations:
Each individual Colossus can be found at the following
map coordinates:
1: F-5
2: F-3
3: E-2
4: G-5
5: H-4
6: D-6
7: D-1
8: G-6
9: D-3
10: B-4
11: F-1
12: G-2
13: E-6
14: C-2
15: G-1
16: F-8
Hint: Defeating Colossus 2:
This will require patience and moderate skill with
the bow. When the Colossus raises its forefeet to stomp on you,
have an arrow drawn to full with the controller vibrating. Keep
a bead on the Colossus' foot, and you will notice that the bottom
glows. Release the arrow when the foot is almost on you. The Colossus'
leg will fold, giving you an opportunity to climb up onto its
back. The rest is very simple, as it is a quadripedal Colossus.
John Doe.
Hint: Defeating Colossus 3:
This Colossus has a huge stone bar in place of a hand
and can either slam it straight down or on an angle. Do not get
hit, as it will take a remarkable amount of time to get up again.
When he slams it down on an angle, it will stick in the ground
for a few seconds. You can then jump onto it and run up to the
Colossus' arm. While you can do this, it will not do much good
as you cannot get past the armor. As you run around, you will
notice a large, circular stone platform. Stand on it and let the
Colossus try to hit you. Dodge, and it will smash down onto the
platform. The armor on its arm will shatter, allowing you to climb
up to its head and jam your sword in the sweet spot. After a few
of hits, it will change and be on the Colossus' stomach.
John Doe.
Hint: Defeating Colossus 4:
Go inside of the "shelter". Wait for the
Colossus to lay down. Then, come out of the shelter and climb
onto the "chains" hanging from its dragon-like head.
Climb up to the top of his head to the glowing symbol and stab
it a few times. The symbol will move. Find it and repeat the attack.
Shane W..
Hint: Defeating Colossus 5:
This Colossus is significantly more difficult than
the previous ones. Jump into the water and swim to the circular
pieces of stone underneath the bridge. Shoot an arrow or two at
the bird to attract its attention. Then, as it is flying towards
you, jump just before it gets to where you are standing pressing
Triangle and R1. Then, climb to the glowing symbol
on his head and stab it. The symbol will then move to each wing.
Stab them, and the bird will die. This Colossus is difficult because
the bird will fly upside down at times, making it very hard to
hang on without losing all of your strength.
Shane W..
Hint: Defeating Colossus 6:
When it gets out of its lair, let it destroy all walls.
You should take cover in the last building. Wait for the Colossus
to get to you. When it looks down on you, grab its beard using
R1 and Triangle. Climb up to its head and stab him
in the highlighted part. The highlighted part will disappear and
reappear at a different location; underneath his spinal cord.
Climb there and kill him.
thijs cramer.
Hint: Defeating Colossus 7:
Jump into the water and wait for the serpent to come
near you. When he surfaces, he should come up underneath you,
so that you are momentarily standing on him. When you are on top
of the Colossus, grab onto it and stab the glowing symbols that
are next to the lit up "rods". After stabbing all of
the symbols by the rods, the symbol will reappear near the tail
of the serpent. Stab this, and the colossus is defeated.
Shane W..
Hint: Defeating Colossus 8:
There will be an opening on the side of the building
which you are in. There will also be stairs. Go one stair case
down. Shoot the Colossus with an arrow to make it mad. It will
climb the building and come to you. You must go to the window
that its stomach is closest to. Shoot it in the stomach a few
times to make it fall. Make sure you have full health because
you must jump on it and stab it in the stomach. The symbol will
then move to its neck. Find it and stab it.
Christian Montesino.
Hint: Defeating Colossus 10:
Ride Agro across the battlefield. Keep doing so until
the Colossus appears. Shoot one of its eyes with the bow and it
will spin. Move to the side and wait for it to crash into the
wall. Once it does so, quickly jump on its back and stab it. This
must be done quickly because when it reaches half life it will
quickly recover. If you make a mistake, 75% of your life will
be taken away.
Ben B.
Hint: Launch the Wanderer into the large
room where Colossus 6 came from:
This is the best way to get into the sixth Colossus'
large room or lair. Get the sixth Colossus as close as possible
to the large room where he came out of. Wait until he smashes
the floor with his hand. Note: This may take awhile. When he smashes
his hand down, make sure he is still as close as possible to the
large room. Immediately after he smashes the floor, grab onto
his arm/hand fur. He will start flinging you around with his arm
violently. If he swings his arm when you are near the large room,
release his arm and you will hopefully be flung into the large
room. This may require a few attempts. The large room has a strange
large blue central symbol on the floor. Also, the Colossus just
stands as close as possible to the edge of the room endlessly
walking forward and stomping the floor.
Legaiaflame aka Jeremy Prusak.
Hint: Lizards:
If you are able to shoot a lizard's tail it will detach
from the body.
wildone65.
Hint: Tortoises:
Apart from lizards, eels, hawks and doves, you also
can find tortoises. One can be found at the very right side of
sector C3. If you tread on it or hit it with an arrow, it will
go inside of its shell.
Hint: Conserving energy:
When you are battling a Colossus and are holding onto
him, you can save some of your energy by releasing R1 if
you have a place to stand or are able to stand without being thrown
off. This can make it easier when it comes to defeating some of
the more difficult Colossi, such as the bird or the sea serpent.
Shane W..
Hint: Ico reference:
Have a saved game from Ico on your memory
card to change the diamond-shaped mark on Agro's head into the
"I" from the Ico logo.
Glitch: Cloth Of Desperation:
Under the hard difficulty setting, after unlocking
the Cloth Of Desperation defeat a Colossus. As the black strings
are headed towards you, use the Cloth Of Desperation by jumping
and pressing Crouch/Grab. If you are using it when the
strings hit you, the game will glitch. You will be surrounded
by the parachute in the shape of a clam shell when you fall to
the ground. Whether you save the game or not, after you wake up
in the castle it will still be glitched. To exit, get on Agro,
use the Cloth Of Desperation again, or climb.
Kyle H. Clark.
Glitch: Respawn Colossus #11:
When fighting this Colossus, you must make him fall
off the edge to break its armor. Then you have to fall exactly
on its back with the sword in hand to have a chance at killing
it. If you miss you must know where the lake is located. It cannot
get you while you are in the water. Press R1 + Triangle
rapidly. You may lose some health if you are too far from the
water. Once in the water, the Colossus cannot harm you. Swim over
to the zigzag ledge that you used to get there in the first place.
Climb it all the way to the top. When you get there the music
will stop. Go back down and you can start over. Note: The Colossus
will not have armor on its back and it will be already be waiting
for you when you get back to the altar.
BONEZ.
Glitch: Kill Agro and make the bridge disappear:
Near the end of the game you can kill Agro and make
the bridge disappear. To get this to work go to "The Broken
Seal" (the final area of the game). Line yourself up with
the bridge. You must move at the bridge with a running start (from
a standstill, while on Agro push Down + X). Just
before Agro is about to jump onto the bridge, you must jump off.
If done correctly, Agro will run across the bridge by himself
and will fall to his death. This may require a few attempts. Do
not save the game or the bridge will be gone forever. If you run
around the Overworld at this point, Agro's lifeless body will
follow you around either floating in the air, or lying on the
ground. [Video]
Legaiaflame aka Jeremy Prusak.
Glitch: Cloth Of Desperation during Agro
Bridge scene:
Just before the intermission sequence is about to trigger,
while riding across the collapsing bridge at the end of the game
jump off of Agro and start gliding with the Cloth Of Desperation.
When the sequence starts, the cloth will be wrapped around you
for the entire scene, making Wander look like a turtle. You can
also run around the last area for a while until the glitch wears
off. [Video]
