When starting the game, go into Character Creation mode. Create your desired character or just go to the last tab, then down to "Name Entry". Once there, press the Square + X to push the letters off of the alphanumeric pad and send them to the bottom of the screen. After a few seconds they will return into position. During most of the intermission sequences in Tales Of Souls mode, a directional or attack button may appear in the upper right hand corner of the screen. Pressing the button (or buttons) promptly will result in a positive turn of events in the sequence, while failing to press the button(s) results in a negative turn of events. Endings vary the most, with dramatic differences in pressing or not pressing the buttons (some outcomes may be as drastic as your chosen character living or dying). Note: Once you have completed Tales Of Souls with a character, you can experiment with the possible outcomes using the "Event Viewer" in the Museum.

Get up to level 20. You can then purchase the new job in the items shop for 20,000 gold.

Hint: Defeating Keres:
You can only damage Keres with a counter hit (a hit while he is attacking). Because Keres uses a lot of throws, your best bet is to use your character's crouching horizontal move. You should deal more damage to him than he does to you. If this does not work, add in evasion and defense but remember that Keres can only be damaged while he is attacking. Also, Keres does not stagger when you hit him.

Hint: Saving Kanon:
In the chronicle where you must save Haltesse troops, you must rescue Kanon at any cost. If you fail to do so, she will die and not appear into your sortie menu. Note: This also applies to Leraje in chronicle 8 as well. However he is much easier to save than Kanon because there are no buildings in the way. To save Kanon, you must go around the building. Choose Cervantes for this fight. At the beginning back, far away from Colossus and press Up (A + K) to shoot your pistol upwards. This will damage Colossus from a far distance and he will not be able to hit you with any strong attacks. However, his sword swiping attack has a far enough range to hit you. Because the pistol fires at a rapid rate, you can defeat him with about fourteen shots or less if you have the Soul Edge, or more shots if you are using another weapon. Position all your character so that they attack the fortress keeping you from Kanon. Chose the cavalry rank for everyone. This really increases their speed. Send one character to rescue Luca and have everyone else attack the tower there. Fortify your strong to a level three. After rescuing Luca, send your character to join the rest of your squad in rescuing Kanon. Fend of the attackers, then send one or two characters to defend your tower behind you. There is an 80% chance that all the Haltese soldiers will be saved after this initial skirmish. Remember to select all characters so that they are close to Kanon or this will not work.

Choose any character. You must win all battles without retrying in order to take on Night Terror. Do the first battle, and always pick the first option on the screen after a battle. After the fight against Zasalamel, you choose the first option as always, then move on to the next battle. Soon, you will enter the labyrinth. You must fight a randomly generated character in complete darkness and Olcadan before fighting Night Terror. When fighting Night Terror, he will have the same moves as Nightmare and some special attacks. He is good but lacks speed while executing his attacks; do not underestimate him. Do some quick blows and when he charges up for a powerful attack, grapple him with a strong grapple. After he is defeated you should continue to the monastery as usual. When you defeat him you will unlock his biography and be able to fight against him once more in Tales Of Souls.

In order to fight Night Terror, never lose all the battle without continuing in the "Tales of The Soul". By using Siegfried, perform common skills to beat the opponent by Knock Out or Ring Out:

Press A, Down + A, A.

Press B, Down + A.

Then, choose the following path: Seek cursed sword with power; avoid chasing him; investigating the cursed sword; stop (vs. Shadow Master); it is worth a try; proceed further in (Grand Labyrinth); defeat Olcadan during the battle. The best way to achieve this is to equip the Soulcalibur, get at least one perfect, and do not lose or ring out. Note: Alot of players fail by using Mitsurugi to get through Night Terror's path.

In order to fight Keres, never lose all the battles without continues in the "Tales of The Soul". By using Maxi, perform common skills to defeat the opponent by Knock Out or Ring Out:

In the "Tales of The Soul" by using Seong-Mina in Chapter 1, you will face Swordsman.

Hint: Yoshimitsu: Easy wins:
As soon as the match starts, crouch down and perform the Spinning Low Kick. This can be executed by pressing Down + Away while crouching and tapping Kick. Pressing Kick(5) will result in a black out. Press Kick only four times, wait for about a second, then repeat the process until the enemy is defeated. This move is not easily blocked by any of the CPU opponents, and it does a staggering amount of damage. If practiced, you can win the game with a large amount of perfects. This can help immensely with gathering money in Tales Of Souls mode. The move Stone Backhand and Stone Fists are not as effective as Spinning Low Kick because the CPU controlled opponents have a large tendency to block almost any medium to high moves. Note: This move can be blocked later by tougher enemies, but the trick is to be persistent.

Hint: Angry shopkeeper:
Go to any shop and highlight anything you cannot afford or something you already have. If you try to buy the item, it will either say you do not have enough gold or that you already have it. However, if you rapidly press either X or Circle enough times, the shop keeper will get mad. Each has a unique move that they will do.

Hint: Unlocking weapon disciplines easily:
Go to "Options", then "Game Settings", and "VS Standard". Set "Battle Count 1P" to "1" and make sure that "Handicap" is on. Then, go to standard versus mode. Select two characters from the same class (Monk, Ninja, etc.). Set player two's handicap to 0% so that you can kill them in one hit. Repeat the fight fifty times and you will have all disciplines for that class (even the "Soul of" disciplines). Do this for all classes and you will have every discipline for your character creations. Although this sounds like a long process, it is still easier than leveling up characters in the Chronicles Of The Sword.

Choose a custom character with a staff. Go to practice free play then use a move where the staff gets very fat (without knocking your opponent off the stage). Pause game play, then start the replay. Notice that the staff will not get fat when the custom character uses the move.

Use a created thief for player one and player two. Equip any dagger to player one and the sickle "Mizuchi" to player two. Set player two's handicap to 0%. When the fight begins have the player with the dagger press Forward, Forward (hold down), Triangle. When the player with "Mizuchi" dies the weapon will bite his crotch.
