Extra lives: Move to the left edge of the screen instead of going
through one of the two doors at the "Continue/Quit"
screen that appears when a game is over. You will enter a secret
room that contains four extra lives. To immediately display the
"Continue/Quit" Screen, press Start during game
play, highlight the quit option and press Select.
During game play, find the bear's mouth in the lower part of the
portrait gallery that is not a source for the small bears. Walk
into this mouth to find extra lives.
Hint: Basement passage: Enter the music room and wait for the music to end.
The passage to the basement will now be accessible.
Hint: Hidden items: Jump into the bottomless pits to find extra items.

Hint: Using the password system: The game may be started with a new number of lives,
different weapons, or other areas by changing the password. The
characters in positions three and four control the number of lives,
with position three being the "ones" digit and four
the "tens" digit. Positions one and two control which
areas have been completed and which weapon, if any, is present.
Position five is the "check" that verifies that a password
is valid. It should be changed by trial and error until the password
is accepted.
Use the following number to character conversion, change positions
three and four of a password to the desired number of lives. Note
that the lives appear in reverse in the password; enter the characters
for "07" for seventy lives.
Keep entering the first four positions of an altered password
with a different fifth position until it works. Passwords with
99 lives will not work. However, a valid 100 lives password may
be created by entering "11" and keep changing the check
position until it works.
