Pokémon: #1 Bulbasaur,
#4 Charmander, or
#7 Squirtle
You appear in your house when you start. Go out of the house and
try to head north. Prof. Oak stops you and takes you back to his
lab. When you get there, you and Gary must choose one of his three
Pokémon: Charmander, Squirtle, or Bulbasaur. Since you
can't get these anywhere else, you may to get your friend with
the other Version to get all three. If you don't want to, just
choose Bulbasaur. If you want all three here's the method to do
so:
Have Gameboy A start a new game.
Gameboy A chooses a Pokémon.
Go to Viridian City, get Oak's Parcel and deliver it to him
in Pallet Town.
Go back to Viridian City and go to the Cable Club.
Gameboy A trades the Pokémon for one of Gameboy B's.
Make sure that Gameboy B chooses a Pokémon that he doesn't
need because you'll lose it.
Gameboy A starts a new game and chooses a Pokémon..
Keep repeating until Gameboy B has two Charmanders, Squirtles,
and Bulbsaurs. Or just five since Gameboy B already has one. 8.
After all that, trade your Pokémon until Gameboy A and
B both have a Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur. Once you have
done that, Gary chooses one. Have you ever noticed that whatever
he chooses, it's in his favor? Anyway, he then challenges you
to a duel. It doesn't really matter if you win, you just get $175
for it. Now head north to Route 1.
