This is a bit confusing because of the switches. Around the building, you can find notes that tell about the mansion and Pokémon. When you enter, go up and enter the stairs. On the 2nd Floor, activate the switch nearby on the statue. Then enter the room that's north of you. Then go up the stairs. From there, there is another statue with a switch. Hit that and go into the lower room. Leap off the lower-left ledge. You'll land on the 1st Floor. In that room, there is another flight of stairs. Go down them to enter the basement. In the room to your left, activate the switch there and enter the hallway north of the stairs you went up. Keep going through to find the Secret Key at the end. Use Dig to exit the building.

With the key in hand, you can now open the Gym. In the Gym, you must beat Trainers in order for the doors to open. At the end, talk to Blaine for the fight...

Use L40+ Ground- or Water-type Pokémon to make this fight a sinch. Attacks such as Bubblebeam, Earthquake, and Dig prove to be quite effective against beating him.

With Blaine out of the way, you have one more Gym Leader to beat. Surf or Fly back to Pallet Town and go to Viridian City.
