You  Don't have to cheat !

So you like the Pokemon Blue Editor but you feel like it's a way to cheat ? Well you don't have to cheat ! Fallow these simple
rules and make your Pokemon game fair and square. You'll have to limit your usage of the Pokemon Blue Editor for fair playing and to avoid screwing up your game. You won't even need to add a Pokemon, just a few items. Note that when see "link" that I'm referring to the No$gmb 2.1a

The starting Pokemons.

So you want Bulbasaur, Squirtle and Charmander ? Well you don't even need the Pokemon blue Editor for that one. Before you choose your first Pokemon, save your game (an actual save, not a snapshot). Quit the emulator that you were playing and go in your save game directory and copy paste your Pokemon Blue save file TWICE. Rename the new ones with the same name but with the extension ".sv2" and ".sv3". Run the No$gmb 2.1a and when you loaded the game, select the "link" option of the No$gmb 2.1a. You should see a second GB screen. Lets say that you'll be using the first screen for your main game. Now choose your first Pokemon and then proceed with the game. Once you've got your Pokedex, you can start hunting for Pokemons. Capture 2 useless Pokemons like a Pidgey or Rattata for example and then  stand right in front of the woman that applies you for the link option at the Pokemon Center. With the second GB screen, do the same except that you choose another Pokemon and you don't need to capture more Pokemons. Once your second character is at the Pokemon Center has well, then just apply and trade the useless Pokemon for the one you actually want. Now that it's done, press start on both games and select reset. Now you must exit the emulator (Note: never press the link option on the No$gmb emulator when it's already in link option ! You'll crash the emulator and your game won't get saved). Now go back in your save game directory and delete the file with extension ".sv2" and rename the one with extension "sv3" to ".sv2". Now restart the No$gmb 2.1a and click on the link option to have the second screen. On the first screen, you'll have your character in the Pokemon Center with two of the three starting Pokemons. On the second screen, you'll have your character ready to choose his first Pokemon, take the last one you don't have and go trade it so that it gets transfer on the first screen. Now save both games, reset, quit the emulator, delete the ".sv2" file and then go back to your favorite GB emulator to continue your Pokemon journey with Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle. It sounds complicated, but it's not. It's faster doing it then reading it.

The Fighting Pokemons

The same has before. When you're ready to choose between Hitmontlee and Hitmonchan, just save your game and repeat the process. You'll only have to do it once to get both.

The Clone Pokemons

Now this is tricky since you don't choose between Pokemons, you choose between two items, two fossils for which will later become Pokemons. Now this is one of the few times that it wouldn't be such a cheat to add an item. Choose either the Dome or Helix fossil, save and quit your game, add the other fossil using the Pokemon Blue Editor and return to your game.

Moon Stones

Their are 4 Pokemons that evolve with a Moon Stone: Clefairy, Jigglypuff, Nidorino, Nidorina. Unfortunately, the game only provides you with 3 Moon stones, that are in plain view ! Two other Moon Stones are hidden in the Game.

1- In Mt. Moon, right before you fight the guy who'll give you a fossil, there is a small passage 4 spaces long and 1 space wide, go to the end of it and press A and you'll find a Moon Stone.
2-  In the Pokemon Mansion on Cinnabar Island, go up to the right side of one of the pillars on the right-hand side near the entrance hit A and it will say you found a Moon Stone.

I'm not sure about the second one cause even if the item detector detected an item, I never found the Moon Stone. If you can't find it, it won't matter anyway. You only need 4 Moon Stones and by the time you get to Cinnabar Island, your Clefairy, Jigglypuff, Nidorino and Nidorina will have evolved by then. Plus, there's no market for a Moon Stone, so in another words, you won't get dick if you try to sell it.

Got to Catch Them All or Gamble Them All ?

Out of all the lame ways to obtain a Pokemon, buying one is the worst way ! There's only one way to get Porygon, and that's to pay for it. A Porygon cost 9999 coins or 199980 Yens. You need 1000 Yens for 50 coins or you can always waste your time trying to win at those rigged slot machines. I would recommend rather increasing your amount of Yens or adding a bunch of nuggets instead of adding Porygon to your list. It will save you the trouble of trading him with the No$gmb 2.1a just to add him to the Pokedex.

Look But Don't Touch

These are the Pokemons that aren't in any way available in the game.

Let's say that you're playing the Blue version and you want Ekans. Now the Pokemons are split evenly and commonly with both games. Ex: Where ever there's a Sandshrew in the Blue version, there's a Ekans in the Red. And also, lets' pretend that you named you Pokemon Roms: PokeBlue.gb (for Pokemon Blue) and PokeRed.gb (Pokemon Red).

-Save your game in the desired area where you would be able to get Ekans with the Red version.
-Rename you save game from PokeBlue.gb to PokeRed.gb.
Important: Make sure that you don't save inside a house or building,  the game might be bugged otherwise. If you saved outside and the game is still bugged, try getting into a battle and has soon has you're done, the game will be back to normal.
-Run your GB emulator and load Pokemon Red.
-Now instead of Sandshrew, you should find Ekans.

Note: It does happen that the game merge and the you get both Ekans and Sandshrew in you game if you do that trick. It's only temporarily and will change back to normal once you save and quit the game.

You won't find these in the Blue Version:
Scyther
Electabuzz
Ekans, Arbok
Mankey, Primeape
Oddish, Gloom, Villeplume
Growlithe, Arcanine

You won't find these in the Red Version:
Magmar
Sandshrew, Sandslash
Meowth, Persian
Bellsprout, Weepinbell, Victreebel
Vulpix, Ninetails

The Evolution Pokemon

By the title, you probably guessed that I was referring to Eevee. Eevee's the only Pokemon to have so many evolutions, to evolve into a totally different type, and the only Pokemon for which the original form is still useful. So if you want Eevee, Vaporeon, Jolteon and Flareon, you have two options:

1- Do the trade trick like with the starting Pokemons only this time you'll keep trading for the same Pokemon. Once you have four Eevees, use the Water stone, Thunder Stone and Fire Stone to make three of them evolve.

2- If you use the Editor to add a Pokemon, it won't be recorded in your Pokedex. But, if you add three extra Eevees once you get your first one and then make them evolve using the stones, you'll have Eevee, Vaporeon, Jolteon and Flareon in your Pokedex.

Rare Candy

Unless I miscounted, there's 9 Rare Candies in the game. If you fallow my chart for catching Pokemon at their best level you won't need the Rare Candy has a evolution resource for all your Pokemon. Only Rhyhorn, Omanyte, Kabuto and Dratini will be of a need of a lot of training before they evolve. Keep your Rare Candy for those Pokemon if you ever feel that you're going to loose it. Also, I recommend leaving Dratini at the Poke-sitter since it won't be has much use until it evolves into Dragonite.

The Fantastic 6

Another thing that sucks about this game is that 5 Pokemons can only be found once (twice for one of them) in the wild. I'm talking about Snorlax, Zapdos, Articuno, Moltres and Mewtwo. Sure you can always save your game and try over and over to get them, but what's the point ? You won't gain experience by fighting them if you capture them. I think this is a good reason to add items by using the Editor. Ultra Balls just aren't enough to capture them, you need to weaken them, put them to sleep, throw about 20 balls.... Why not just use a Master Ball ? Well you already get one in the game, why not get 4 more ? I think it we deserve to have better equipment for better opponents don't you think ? This is my personal way to play the game, but it's not your only option compare to the previous ways to get Pokemons. Oh and while you're at it, add one more for Mew, yes Mew, go down a bit and it will be explained.

Mew

You can't get Mew in the US versions, not without a code, a game enhancer code that is. Using the No$gmb, access the GUI and select cheats (Assuming that you disabled the debugger or else you'll have to go in the debugger to add the codes). In the Game Genie section,  add the following strings:

If you playing the Blue Version

151-91A-7FC
151-93A-F7E
151-9BA-6EB

If you playing the Red Version

151-91A-7FC
151-93A-F7E
151-9BA-5DB

With these three strings, Mew should now be available. You can only find Mew on Route 4, just before entering Cerulean City. You'll find a Mew has many times has you would find a Rattata, Spearow or Ekans. You'll only be able to find one at level 10 and with two moves: Pound and Transformation. It sounds to good to be true, right ? Well it does cause theirs a catch if you don't catch it fast enough ! If Mew uses the Transformation move and you capture it, you'll be stuck with a Ditto ! Yep ! So you'll need to put it to sleep right away, I was only able to catch it with an Ultra Ball when it had one hair of energy left. Of course, if you use a Master Ball, you won't have to go trough all that trouble.

IMPORTANT:  Game Enhancers do have the reputation of screwing up your game once in a while. To avoid loosing your game, make a copy of the saved file before proceeding with the Game Genie code. If your game happens to get screwed up, you'll have a backup. Once you got Mew, save your game and quit the emulator to get rid of the Game Genie mode. You'll no longer need it since you got Mew and it will avoid any bugs that could occur in the rest of your game.

With these tips and codes, you can play a Pokemon game and get all 151 Pokemons without cheating, well almost.
