Purchase an SUV. Put the biggest rims possible on it. Next, put the most tire profile on it. Leave the ride height as stock. This will allow you to hit traffic at high speeds and you will not lose any speed.

Hint: Freeway races:
The freeway races are the greater advantage, and at the same time, the greater disadvantage of the game. Hint: Help or hinder the law:
In Tokyo Challenge or Arcade mode, always do the Shinjuku Circuit with a car that has the Agro ability. On about the sixth turn you will see a big stone building on your right and a walkway overhead. On the right side sidewalk you will see a Tokyo policeman chasing a green car. You can be good or evil, depending on whether you use Agro on the cop or criminal.
